Creativity does not make much sense. It appears to have little survival value, and it takes up time and energy. However, humans have engaged in creative behaviour for centuries. With this paradox as its premise, "Motives for Creative Work" explores the mystery of creative behaviour in the human species. With case studies of Mozart, Austin, Hitchcock, Freud, and more, Dr. Abra looks at possible motives for creative work among artists, dancers, musicians and athletes. Abra's writing style tends to be wordy with convoluted run-on sentences. However, the material he presents is fascinating. This is a tough book, but it is worth reading if you are interested in a research-based look at creativity.
