5.0 out of 5 stars Better than GP3
This is probably one of the best racing games you can own; the realism is unparalleled for a racing game of its kind. Just look at the replay and someone walking past the television might mistake it for the real thing, especially with weather conditions on full.

This is probably one of the best racing games you can own; the realism is unparalleled for a racing game of its kind. Just look at the replay and someone walking past the television might mistake it for the real thing, especially with weather conditions on full.

MotoGP3 for the PS2 was released before the PC release of MotoGP2 and to be honest GP3 PS2 is a bit of a let down, not because it is not a great console game, it is, but because GP3 does not live up to GP2 on the PC. GP2 PC allows you a way more views while in GP3 you can only set up two switchable views before you start the game. Although the GP3 PS2 cockpit view is mightily improved from GP2, the fact that you can only switch to two limits the racing experience. Unlike GP2 PC GP3 PS2 has no switchable camera views in the instant replay meaning you are stuck on TV mode. GP2 PC gives you all the 10+ views. So GP3 PS2 is 4 stars because of these view configuration limitations. GP3 PS2 also has no training unlike GP2 PC.

However the GP3 PS2 racing engine is better than ever with more realistic tracks, more realistic driving (including simulation mode), faster bikes, improved environments, expanded multiplayer and lots more game modes than before. In terms of console bike sims, GP3 PS2 delivers in aces.

However the fact that GP2 PC is so much more makes me think that maybe GP3 PS2 will be best played on the PC when it comes. To be honest unless you are only looking for console biking get GP2 PC instead and get GP3 PS2 only for die hard fans of the series - which I am.

Great motorcycle simulator but limited when compared to its brothers.

*As a note GP2 PS2 is not the same as the GP2 PC version by a long shot. It has all the problems of GP3 PS2. As you can guess the PS2 is starting to show its age. It is not the sims fault.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty cool man...., May 29, 2003

This game gets five stars mainly because its one of the few (only?) recent motorcycle racing games out there for the PC. I'm glad THQ had the guts to publish it. Its not perfect (Alex Barros on a Honda Pons machine?)but I'm happy just to have something new (how many years can you go on playing SBK 2001?). Overall its a fun game and a good value for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome., October 31, 2004

Some people have made some negative comments that I just had to write and share my experience.

This game is awesome. I on the other hand find the physics of it awesome. On video replays you can see your front forks compressings as you slow down to take a curve. I find no frame rate slow downs at all... (1.4Ghz with a ATi 9600XT. )

The only complaint I have is they dont make control paddles with padded buttins. My fingers hurts from excessive game play. :)

I dont like simulation games (cars, planes or space fights) But I cant stop playing this game.

Im actually 25, but didnt feel like filling out the form... anyway....

Im a HUGE motorcycle racing fan and actually compete in the WERA circuit. Our LAN party group has played and loved sbk2001 for quite some time now and was really psyched about getting a new pc bike game to play, but.....

At first I thought we were in heaven...the graphics, custom bikes, custom leathers, paints....you name it, you can do it. It was all good, until we played the game. First of all you cant play all the track immediately. I can understand this on a single player career mode, but in multiplayer, this is a MUST. So after downloading a cheat for all the riders and tracks, we began to race. Two words sum up the simulation for this - IT [stinks]. SBK2001 has MUCH better physics than motogp....and when you get near another bike, the frame rate [stinks] so bad the other bike is a slideshow. (yes, our computers are over 2ghz with geforce 4 cards... and digital flight sticks for control)

Truely a waste of money if your a die hard sim fan. Although I can see people wanting an arcade type feel having fun with this game. I give it 4 starts for graphics/etc and gameplay/sim value of -5 stars. PLEASE EA SPORTS make a new SUPERBIKE or AMA BIKE RACING GAME!!!

This may be the best out there for Motorcycle racing, but it really is very poor. Graphics are ok, but the actual control and physics of the game is just poor! Nothing else to say except, not worth the shipping cost. Not at all like real Motorcycle response.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth it, December 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Moto GP 2 (CD-ROM)
the 2 guys that complained are idiots.
the 1st guy can't get it to play on his puter, so he blames the game instead of hardware or software problems with his puter.
i personaly know 3 guys with this game and none have any more then minor bug problems, but NO major crashes or lockups....
the 2nd guy complains about frame slowdown playing online DUH!!! how about s**T internet conn.. i've played online many times with no propblems other then normal bad server ping too many hops or just plain bad connection....NOT THE GAMES FAULT.

the game is WELL WORTH the price...
