Let me start off by saying that I have been a long-time gamer from the days of 286 PCs and 8-bit Nintendos and am usually
critical of most games out today. I don't write a lot of game reviews unless I think a game deserves special attention so
more people can become aware of it and support developers who create such quality games. I believe MotoGP 2 is one of them. Even though I consider myself a car racing fan, this title has to be (or very very very close to being) the best racing game for the Xbox, and belive me it has plenty of competition.

The original MotoGP already pleasantly surprised a lot of people when they tried it with their Xbox live demo disc. The second iteration improves even further. Please don't confuse this game (from THQ) with another game with same name on PC and PS2 which is completely different, from different developers. I got a taste of this game from a pre-release demo version. The developers (THQ) did a good job of keeping what worked well in the original and improved further in areas that lacked. The people who made this game definitely paid attention to small details, and when all is added up together, it results in a high quality game.

The graphics are further improved (I didn't think this was possible), distant scenery are added such as mountains and
cities in the horizon. The detail of the bikes are much higher, you can see dirt scrapes and wrinkled metal after you have
a wipe out. These are just some of the examples, there are much more that's hard to explain, but the result is the most
immersive visual experience I have ever seen in a game. The screenshots don't do justice, you have to see a demo or replay
of it in action to get a better sense of the environment. I spent a few minutes after my first race just watching the replay a couple of times to take in all the sights and sounds. It was as if I was actually at the races. There are about 6 different camera views while racing, from low behind the windscreen to a rider's eyelevel, to about 10 ft high behind your bike. The game is smooth, yet fast. Smooth in the sense that everything looks and behaves realistically, but fast just like a real motorcycle race. Nothing behaves like it was pre-programmed, everything seems to flow and collide like in real life, even crashes when your body is thrown off the bike and tumbles, it looks very realistic (and painful).

The sounds are also noticeably improved. The engines sound more authentic, not the generic buzz like the original. You can
get a sense of where other riders are around you just by the sound, which helps a lot so you don't have to glance behind
to see who's there. The race announcer can be heard in the distance as you approach the grandstands. Also new is wind
noise that is a constant low hum that changes slightly depending on your speed.

Gameplay is at its best, along with the solid physics from the original, wet traction handling is even more realistic
(though you can reduce the realism in the options if you're a beginner). When you try to steer the bike, you are actually
making your rider lean that way just like in real life. It is not the instant turn-on-a-dime type of steering in most
console racers. There is real inertia and a solid substantial feel in the bikes. I can actually feel the torque generated
by the engine when the throttle is turned all the way up. As you accelerate, the bike has a natural tendency to raise in
the front, and you have to consciously push down in the front to keep the front wheels down (very much like real-life
high-powered race motorcycles). It's enjoyable just riding the bike on the track at my own pace watching the scenery and feel the bike instead of racing. Similar to that feeling you get when just cruising down a highway on a motorcycle. There is a competition mode called stunt mode were you get to do just that, try to pull off wheelies, endos, burnouts to score points rather finish first. All the stunts simulate what can be done on a real bike.

There are 16 tracks total (6 more than original game). You can create your own custom rider and bike with a lot of options in their graphic design and show them off to others when racing online. The xbox live interface is simple, intuitive, and useful. Unlike so many other xbox live games, this is one of the few games where you can actually see the name of who is speaking when a voice comes on ingame. The new replay option is also a great feature, you can watch the entire race through about a dozen different camera angles and different riders.

I am not exaggerating when I say this title is almost beyond just a racing game, it's a racing experience. A completely
immersive experience for two and maybe three of your senses (Visual, audio, and even feel). We're just missing the taste
of the sweat and dirt, and the smell of the engine exhaust. Perhaps in Xbox 2 and beyond? For now, grab your copy of
MotoGP2 and you won't be disappointed. At least check this game out even if you're not a motorcycle racing fan.

I've only owned the PS2, as Gran Turismo is the family video game since the PS1. Being a moto nut, I got Namco's MotoGP2 and 3, and while they're better than nothing, I kept wishing they could've been more like SBK2001 for PC.

I was aware that Moto GP for the Xbox had gotten rave reviews, but there was no way I was going to spend $300 for another console, so I tried to ignore its existence. I couldn't help read the reviews anyway, but they're pretty generic and avoid comparisons between the Xbox and PS2 games (don't want to bite the hands that feed). The few remarks I could find on the net that directly compare the games were brief, and sounded like the usual console partisanship. Anyway, my curiosity (and the $179 price) got the better of me and I finally got an Xbox just for Moto Gp 2.

I realize now why the comparisons are so brief: there's no comparison.

All the best stuff from SBK2001 is there, with better graphics, sound and control. The common thread between Moto GP 2 and SBK2001: Climax developers (THQ is the publisher). There seem to be some serious moto fans in the company, and the result is a real joy to anyone who has any interest in bikes (or an appreciation for apexes). You really have to hand it to Climax--they've managed to create a game that is true to the sport and is also very accessible to the unfamiliar.

At first, I was reluctant to learn a new controller setup for the Xbox game, but I can't imagine playing Namco's game ever again. At identical prices, the Xbox is a steal compared to the PS2, if Climax's Moto GP 2 is any indication of the quality of Xbox titles.

That says a lot since I am not really into motorcycle games. The graphics on this game are absolutely breathtaking and if you are an Xbox apologist then you need to shown this game to all those PS2 philes who think that their console is superior. The fluidity of the graphics and gameplay is really impressive in this game. Try playing this game in the rain and you can see raindrops on the screen that look so real and the water on the track has such a realistic reflection. This game is a winner.

Very realistic recreation of 500cc GP racing. The drawback, perhaps the ONLY drawback, is the steep learning curve for the gamer. It takes a LOT of practice to master riding these bikes competitively. While acknowledging that this is true in real life as well, I found that my real-life motorcycling skills were relatively useless in learning to keep the bike on the virtual track.

I might have found it easier had I had a motorcycle controller, the way some racing gamers have steering wheels and pedals, but I haven't seen those and likely wouldn't invest in them just for one game. Also, they'd have to incorporate 'countersteering' to make it truly realistic. That would be a challenge -- then again, everything else about this game is truly realistic.

The level of visual, audio and tactile realism that the programmers have put into this game is astounding. I can't imagine a more realistic recreation of those aspects of GP racing. If you can overcome the steep learning curve of controlling the bikes, you will love this game.

Moto gp 2 for the xbox is one of the best games in it's genre and I will tell you why. First off the gameplay is great, you can customize everything like the weather and even your bike in almost every way possible including any color imaginable, different pattern disigns so you will be stylin on the track, oh ya you can also costomize your biker and so on. This game is also very fun like if you hit another racer hard anough you and your apponent will go flying off your bikes in amazing detail and if you bump into someone they will shake their fist at you. There are a few good gameplay modes to including quick race,career mode,stunt mode and multyplayer mode OH!! wait it's also xbox live compatible which is great. But there is only one thing abour the gameplay that is not completely thrilling is that it is very hard even on easy but that's not a real big deal.

Next I want to tell you about the graphics in this game, they are amazing absolutely amazing, Completely realistic 360 degree amazement. Smooth textures add to the realism to but I won't go into to much detail this early in the morning yawn!!.
The sound moto gp2 is good but lacking detail but the sound in this game won't even get a seconds thought once your on the road.

This is the only game that I have that I can play over and over and not get bored. The graphics alone blow any other racing game away. Even the sound is good. But, the greatest feature of this game is that you customize everything to your liking. You want to race 1 lap? Done. You want a 20 lap race? Done. You want your own music in the background? Go for it. I could go on.
This game is so realistic that it makes you wonder why all racing games can't be like this. I will admit, this game is hard when you first begin playing. But once you get the hang of
it, there is no racing game on this planet that can touch it. You can do burnouts, wheelies, endos, and more. Do you need more
proof? Look at the price of this game. FIFTY DOLLARS! What game this old is still that high? Enough said.

Man are these graphics AMAZING! They are unreal! Dont be confused by the name though, this is NOT the same version as the PS2 one. This is made by THQ and the PS2 one is made by NAMCO. But Trust me...THIS ONE IS WAY BETTER. I played MOTO GP 1 and the Xbox Live online demo of Moto GP 1, and the OXM demo of MOTO GP 2. And playing this one with its great graphics and gameplay and playing the first one online, I can personly say that MOTO GP 2 on Xbox AND on the INTERNET is PERFECT COMBO! It cant get any better!

The sense of speed is great, but you will either love or hate the "realistic" steering. There is no arcade steering option so you will have to make carefully plotted turns and adjust your bike's engine to win races. But more importantly, the graphics are a bit plain, with lots of stuff in the far distant background of the track. The bike models look great but you won't see much of them on the track after the first lap. You are basically driving for the best time, with the other bikers in front or behind you in the distance. It makes for a somewhat sterile racing experience.
