Great game for motorcycle fans,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

We've been a fan of the MotoGP series since it first came out. The physics and graphics of the game are astounding. MotoGP3 is a worthy sequel!
You begin by customizing your character - helmet style, nationality, name, even gender. There are a variety of colors to go through. Then you get into the game itself. For those familiar with the MotoGP series, you'll see a number of improvements here. The graphics and sounds have been tuned to be even more realistic than usual. There are now 15 real circuits plus 20 fantasy circuits on the map. There's the ability to play with up to four players, although it's done via multitap so everyone is on the same machine. Also, they've enhanced the riding to make it even MORE realistic by adding in separate front/rear braking and a front-back weight slide option. As any motorcyclist can tell you, how you shift your weight on your bike can have a huge impact on its performance. We are in fact motorcyclists and love these games in general. MotoGP3 does a great job of offering an easy "arcade" version for those not interested in realistic handling - as well as a full "season" mode for the ones interested in a hard-core, real motorcycling challenge. There are also fun time trials and challenges to keep things interesting. I really appreciate that there are the different modes. Some people just aren't real motorcycle fans and don't want their bike to act "squirrely" around corners. Other people actually do ride motorcycles and get upset when their motorcycle does something it shouldn't be able to. There are many motorcycles to choose from, and different levels of difficulty. You can set the weather conditions, number of laps, even the type of transmission. The details are just so impressive with this game. In essence they keep "revamping" the same game every year so the development team has had plenty of time to focus on those details. The tires get dirty when you ride in the dirt. The trees in the distance look like real trees. It really does feel like you're in a real motorcycle race. The AI is much improved over earlier games. The other riders with you have their own techniques and styles. You get to recognize who you're riding against and treat them as actual characters. While button-pushing can be fun for arcade mode, I highly recommend going into analog mode for real motorcycle fun. On an actual motorcycle, you don't have buttons, you have throttles and brakes that roll on and off. The analog control gives you far more finesse over your riding ability. Highly recommended for motorcycle fans!

If you have MotoGP 2, don't waste your money,

IMHO, this game is a ... Virtually exactly the same as MotoGP 2. They want to sell you on the new cockpit view, but good luck controlling the bike in this view. If you don't have MotoGP 2, go for it because it's still fun. Otherwise, there are better things to spend [$$$] bucks on.

PS2 lets it down a little,

Don't get me wrong. This is probably one of the best racing games you can own; the realism is unparalleled for a racing game of its kind. Just look at the replay and someone walking past the television might mistake it for the real thing, especially with weather conditions on full.
MotoGP3 for the PS2 was released before the PC release of MotoGP2 and to be honest is a let down, not because it is not a great console game, it is, but because GP3 does not live up to GP2 on the PC. GP2 PC allows you a way more views while in GP3 you can only set up two switchable views before you start the game. Although the GP3 cockpit view is mightily improved from GP2, the fact that you can only switch to two limits the racing experience. Unlike GP2 PC GP3 has no switchable camera views in the instant replay meaning you are stuck on TV mode. GP2 PC gives you all the 10+ views. So GP3 is docked a star because of these view configuration limitations. GP3 also has no training unlike GP2 PC. However the GP3 racing engine is better than ever with more realistic tracks, more realistic driving (including simulation mode), faster bikes, improved environments, expanded multiplayer and lots more game modes than before. In terms of console bike sims, GP3 delivers in aces. However the fact that GP2 PC is so much more makes me think that maybe GP3 will be best played on the PC when it comes. To be honest unless you are only looking for console biking get GP2 PC instead and get GP3 only for die hard fans of the series - which I am. Great motorcycle simulator but limited when compared to its brothers.

This is my favorite game. Its a blast to run, is very forgiving, has alot of options and immerses the rider completely by lap two. Haven't played GP4 yet but if its anything like this one, I am gonna have to buy it too. Gives you a real sense of speed. Love the season play, racing with alot of GP names to boot. In the Legends play mode, you have alot tougher time trying to catch up to the Swantzmeister and others, which is a great challenge. Having raced motocross and roadrace for real, I can say this game gives you a feeling of really being there, great physics engine. This games gets two thumbs up!

Counter-Steer? GP3 vs Tourist Trophy?,

Pleae, someone tell me are these motorcycle simulations realistic in that you have to counter-steer like real riding? I couldn't use an arcade m.c. game because you steered it like a car.
Which is better - GP3 or Tourist Trophy? (for PS2) I had to enter a fun rating number to be able to post this, although I've never seen these games/simiulations.

I agree, this is the most realistic motorcycle racing game I have ever played. The multiplayer mode is a blast. Especially the 4 player mode. The career mode is great as well, since it almost forces you to work your way up through the ranks of motogp. Wish the bikes were appropriately named but if you know anything about bikes its not that hard to figure out what each bike is actually based on. Definitely, BUY THIS GAME!!!

The game is extremely realistic. The tracks are almost duplicates to the real race tracks. The bikes are great and being able to handicap players makes the playing field even.
When is Moto GP4 coming out??????? I want it now!!!!!!

This is the best selection for motorcycle simulation that I've played before, so the 4 stars is really more like a 3 1/2 stars. Everyone has brought up most of the good points like playing with 'simulation' enabled, or the AI really bogs you down. The sounds are mediocre, the the physics are as well. I wish you could 'feel' the leaning a bit better. The stoppies are fun. Some of the bonus video footage is really amateur-looking. One of the things that I love about, say, GT3 is that you can do a U-turn if you feel like goofing around. Here you can't, which is a bummer.
