It's definitely one of the better motorcycle racers for the playstation, but it suffers from Gran Turismo-itis and isn't quite as much fun as the original.

I'm a big fan of racing games on the PSX, and I really enjoyed the original Moto Racer. I'd been looking forward to the sequel for a while, and I was quite sure it would be a big improvement over the original--the specs sure sounded impressive.

The graphics are indeed improved over Moto Racer, with more detailed road surfaces and semi-realistic textures. However, this didn't come for free-there's noticeable slowdown if there's more than 2 other bikes on the screen, while the original did much better with up to 5-6 bikes or so. The bike graphics may or may not be improved, I can't really tell (and who looks at the other bikes anyway?)

Loading times are also extremely obnoxious. It was a serious problem on my original PSX, as it would take literally 30-45 seconds to load one track. (I recently purchased a new unit, and it sped up a bit, but it's still annoying.) This is really the most disappointing part of the game, especially as the first one was relatively quick to switch between tracks.They got rid of the excellent load/save screen in the first one, and instead you can only save one game per memory card. (Sony requirement to sell more memory cards?) In fact, all of the cute little touches they had in the original game (the neato waveforms on the audio screen, the 3-D rotating objects in the setup backgrounds) are gone.

There are a lot more tracks in Moto Racer 2 but they're all rather similar, and I often find myself thinking "didn't I just race this track?" It's easy to get them mixed-up.

The track editor isn't terribly interesting. It's fairly hard to use, and after playing with it for 5 minutes it's easy to see why all the tracks are similar, as the editing capabilities are quite limited.

Get the original Moto Racer. It's probably cheaper and frankly, it's at least as much fun. There's nothing in Moto Racer 2 that compels me to play it over the original, and I find the loading times and slowdowns annoying enough to want to avoid it.

This is a good moto game for playstation. I think you should get this game because it is really fun. You can also make your own tracks.
