This review is from: Easy Motorcycle Riding (Paperback)
I knew Ms Wallach back in Chicago in th 1960's. She was the owner and chief mechanic for a BSA shop on the South Side. Before she would sell you a bike, you were required to take a defensive riding course from her. Ms. Wallach at one time had a line in the Guiness Book of World Records as the first and only person to cross the Sahara in a motorcycle. She did this a couple of times during WW II as a member of a Special Operations Division for the British Armed Services. I sat in on one of her defensive riding classes and it could well have saved my life. I remember her saying " if you hit something or are going to lose the bike let go" I was riding a Harley when I ran into one of Chicago's famous potholes. I let go of the bike and rather than getting tangled up with a mass of metal and rubber I sailed over the handlebars. Yes I broke my collarbone but I survived the accident, which if I had held onto the bike may not have been the case. The last time I saw Theresa was probably 1975.
