Better in many ways than Twisted Metal,

I'm amazed that this game isn't receiving more attention. Graphically, I think it has a lot more impact than Twisted Metal Black...seriously, this is the best looking game I've seen on the PS2 yet. I rented it, but wound up buying - the multiplayer is a blast. Cool characters, MUCH more impressive special attacks than TMB, and a "T" rating - nice because I can play it with my kids without the gore of Twisted.

Worth a look,

Motor Mayhem is a great car combat game. Do not dismiss this title if you are a fan of the car combat genre. It may not win over the some die hard Twisted Metal: Black fans. But I own Twisted Metal: Black and Motor Mayhem and I am enjoying both. Game modes include Eliminator: You and all other cars get one life. Last one alive wins. Deathmatch: All cars can respawn after a death. First one to get the max number of kills wins. Endurance: No respawn, one on one match. Once you kill the opponent, a new one takes its place. One thing I like about the AI of MM is the computer cars are not only after you. They go after each other and do kill other cars in the match. Graphics and explosions are great. They have a meaty sound and explosions rock the video image to give you the illusion of being right there. Some slow down at times but it is minimal. Control is as if you are driving a car. You can not turn with out moving forward or backward. But you can turn slightly when airborn. Worth a look.

A Visual Feast,
This review is from: Motor Mayhem (Video Game)
I wasn't expecting to like this game as much as I do. I haven't been able to put it down. The graphics are smooth, brilliant and colorful. Load times are super-quick. Almost NO wait between levels. The lighting effects of the weapons are pretty cool. There's enough variety of characters to keep replaying the game over and over for a different experience. My only reservation in NOT giving the game a FIVE STAR rating is the lack of a deeper story, no FMV...even when the game is completed and it's a tad TOO EASY...even in hard mode. But that doesn't mean it isn't fun as hell to play. I know that up against Twisted Metal Black, this one will be over-looked, but just give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
