Product Description

With the longest run-time of any motor in its class, and the advantage of precise variable speed adjustment, VariMAX gives you the freedom to fish all day with unmatched control of your boat-and the guts to get it done, day in and day out. You'll get over three-times the battery life of traditional 5-speed motors and never have to settle for a little too fast or a bit too slow. Dial it down and whisper through the shallows, or crank it up and cut through the wind with less amp draw. Fish longer, fish exactly the speed you want, and fish quieter... all with the extreme durability of MotorGuide Digital. This model includes the pontoon style mount with VariMAX Edition digital trolling motor featuring the BluVis function display.

Fish all day and enjoy stellar control of your boat, day in and day out, with the MotorGuide 55HT VariMAX freshwater hand-control transom mount trolling motor. Rugged and functional style is highlighted by an intuitive push/pull, forward/reverse speed adjustment system, and the motor features 55 pounds of peak thrust, 12 volts of power, and a 50-inch aluminum shaft. The built-in BluVis function display shows direction, precise speed settings, and 10 levels of battery voltage when the unit is turned off. VariMAX motors are designed to have best-in-class run time and the advantage of precise variable speed adjustment, enabling anglers to fish longer, at the exact desired speed, and as quietly as possible. Perfect for all-day fishing expeditions, VariMAX delivers more than three times the battery life of traditional five-speed motors.

MotorGuide's VariMAX motors include the Digital Advantage feature for quiet, smooth operation that allows anglers to hit the water with confidence and get closer to the fish. Protected from heat, moisture, corrosion, and shock, the digital module is completely sealed in a compact, lightweight lower unit. Building off of an award-winning technology, MotorGuide has also introduced a new benchmark with Digital Variable Speed, which allows for up to 3.5-times longer operation on a single charge than traditional five-speed motors. The control module allows anglers to find the precise desired speed setting while slowly and quietly ramping to speed, which increases boat control and mount longevity. So whether sight-fishing, throwing a jig into a submerged brush pile, or simply enjoying a peaceful morning on the water, VariMAX offers a stealthy propulsion solution.

The motor's BluVis display readout keeps you constantly updated on battery charge and speed.

Many anglers know the unpleasant feeling of traveling up an inlet and worrying about having enough power charge to make it back home. With VariMAX, that concern is a distant memory. The BluVis speed and battery indicators provide a constant reminder of how much life is left in the battery. And with Intuitive Direction Control, you'll no longer wonder which direction to turn the handle to reach your target. Simply push or pull the handle in the desired direction.

Additional Features:

  • Digital variable speed control minimizes amp draw and maximizes fishing time
  • 1.25-inch diameter aluminum shaft for greater strength and durability
  • Powerful, cool running, and long-lasting 3.5-inch diameter VariMAX Digital motor
  • Taper-lock mount with seven-point adjustment is constructed of proprietary tapered stainless steel, ensuring solid engagement and eliminating slack
  • One-touch, rapid slide-depth adjustment collar
  • Extending tri-lobe, soft-touch handle for feel and control
  • Easy to adjust with a simple Allen wrench, head can be positioned for placement on the bow, transom, or side of the boat
  • One year manufacturer's warranty

I bought this motor for my 21' Fishin'Barge Pontoon. It was easy to install except that the so-called "stainless-steel" bolts supplied for mounting were junk. They are so soft that the threads deformed before the nyla-nuts were tight and the Philips heads stripped. Had to break them off to get them back out - and it wasn't difficult with a Vice-grip. Got 4 real stainless steel 1/4" bolts and 4 good nyla-nuts and mounted the unit easily.

I would have given this motor 5 stars if it hadn't been for the mounting hardware. I wish companies would get their hardware from some place other than China. I have purchased several items over the past few years from otherwise dependable companies that supplied hardware that was simply junk. If I had been able to successfully mount the motor with the hardware that came with it, it could have easily broken loose on the water. I'd sure hate to loose a $400 trolling motor because of $1 worth of defective hardware.

This motor works really nice. Strong motor, and I like the capability to measure the actual battery voltage right on the unit. I highly recommend it, but get some good hardware before you try to mount it.

My husband loves it - said it is the best thing we have purchased for the pontoon. We take it off (to prevent it from being stolen) every time we dock and the process is not a problem.

My husband found the motor was reasonably priced and excellent for his needs. Because of the long winter he has not yet to take it on the Lake, but plans to do that very soon.
