Weak overview of a few models.,

This review is from: BMW Motorcycle Buyer's Guide (Paperback)
Sorry folks, I'd like to say that this book updates the earlier one by MBI but that is not the case. Rather, they threw out all the good info and focused on a few models, condensing all the information into 'info bites' (what I call the style of writing developed by Maxim, the men's magazine for those with an eighth grade reading level and a sixty second attention span). If you can get your hands on one of the older versions, they are better. Also, there are other BMW books with more info and pictures. You're best bet is to google what you are looking for - there is a wealth of info on the internet. Shame on MBI, which used to be a fantastic publisher, and shame on Mark Zimmerman for such a weak presentation on a topic some of us happen to take pretty seriously.

Looking for a used BMW? Start here. While not uber-detailed from a technical standpoint, the information is well- organized and well-presented with fine photos. I refer to the book often as a memory refresher and "what to look for" reminders. That doubles its value in my mind: A buyer's reference and later a model reference -- a keeper for me! Remember -- it's current only to the early 2000's.
