Book Description

Motorbooks Workshop August 14, 2004
In the mid-1990s, fuel injection was available on only a handful of exotic, high-buck European motorcycles. Today it is the predominant motorcycle technology. Despite its prevalence, very few motorcyclists understand fuel injection. Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook dissects its mysteries, thoroughly explaining the technology from its origins through its subsequent development and examines ways to modify the technology for optimum performance. Systems from all the major manufacturers are included as are after-market products. Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook discusses remapping tips, racing bike systems, and future development. It is the ultimate resource for those who want to master the most important motorcycle technology of our time.

From the Publisher

Although it has been available on motorcycles starting in 1980, most mechanics and consumers know very little about electronic fuel injection and its use on motorcycles.

All that has changed with the publication of "The Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook" by Adam Wade. This member of the "Motorbooks Workshop" series from Motorbooks International educates consumer and mechanic alike about the basics of motorcycle fuel injection. Covering everything from engine and combustion dynamics to a comprehensive overview of aftermarket strategies and devices, it sets the standard for the understanding of and knowledge about today’s motorcycle-based fuel injection.

Whether you’re a dealership mechanic trying to simplify diagnosis, modification or repair, a bike owner trying to understand how to improve performance, or just someone who is generally curious about what’s "under the hood", this book is loaded with tips, information, and examples to help everyone understand the new wave in motorcycle technology.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK as an introduction, not much use otherwise., April 26, 2006
This review is from: Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
The content is somewhat dated, so of limited use to anyone seeking detailed information. The author struggles to explain concepts in parts, suggesting that he has been less than meticulous in his research. There are better books available.

1.0 out of 5 stars A worthy effort, but not quite enough., April 27, 2006
This review is from: Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
It's difficult to see quite who this book is aimed at. It is too dry and complex a subject for casual readers, and this volume lacks sufficient depth and clarity for serious students and professionals. As others have stated, much of the content is out of date. Needs a re-write.

This review is from: Motorcycle Fuel Injection Handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
OK Primer, BMW information is dated dealing with the Motronic systems and no updates for the BMSC or BMSK. As a BASIC overview it was informative.
