UK double 180gm grey vinyl gatefold reissue of the UK rockers' 1977 debut album. The band had earlier recorded their debut album, On Parole, for United Artists Records, but the record company was stalling on its release, unsure of its commercial viability. For this album, the band chose to re-record that album in almost its entirety; only 'Fools' and 'Leaving Here' weren't re-recorded at these sessions. In addition, two new self-penned compositions were added in 'White Line Fever' and 'Keep Us On The Road', as well as a cover of 'Train Kept A-Rollin''. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Without this album,or this band,the evolution of "Heavy/Thrash Metal" would have been totally different or not at all.If this record had not been released and Motorhead had folded(which was a distinct possibility at the time)then it is conceivable that you would not now have the Metallicas and Slayers of this world. What has to be understood about this album is the musical environment it was released into.At the time there was NOTHING that sounded like this or was as heavy as this and it took the rock fraternity of the time and blew the top of its collective head off.This is also a damned good album and most of the songs here are classics,real rip-roarers that have stood the test of time.OK,by todays standards the recording quality is not quite up to scratch but don't let that bother you.Just turn your hi-fi up as loud as it can phisycaly go and enjoy an album which changed the course of rock forever.

Originally released in 1977,a year or two after Lemmy exited Hawkwind.As most of you probably know,this is Motorhead's stunning debut record. So good to finally get it on CD.Simply outstanding British metal.Does it get any better than this?I could listen to this CD two or three times in a row,it's THAT good. Tracks that more than make this disc a true keeper are the opener, title cut-the band's namesake "Motorhead", "Lost Johnny", the slammin' "Iron Horse/Born To Lose", "Keep Us On The Road" and "City Kids" (also liked the Pink Fairie's version of this tune). Plus you get four(4)bonus cuts tagged on. Line-up: Lemmy-bass&vocals,Larry Wallis(former Fairies member)-guitar and Lucas Fox(R.I.P.)-drums. So highly recommended,it hurts.

Everything that makes Motorhead great to this day was already in place. Stripped down, fast, aggressive hard rock with a punk attitude. And since I mentioned it, this recording often comes far closer to punk than metal. Everything that makes those early punk albums so much fun is here. Minimal production, raunchy, simple guitar, no pretensious vocals. Well written, well constructed songs abound just as I expect when I purchase a disc by this band. And this is so much fun!! Motorhead is a blast, from here all the way to Motorizer, and every stop in between. Every line up and every album have their good points.

Every song on here's a keeper. I've heard numerous versions of the song that gave this band their name and I love every one, from Hawkwind to the current live versions. Train kept A Rollin' has been covered dozens of times by dozens of bands, but does it get better than this? And what great bonus cuts! Songs like On Parole capture that early rock'n'roll feel of the 50's, but kick it up a few notches. To this day Lemmy starts every concert by proclaiming, "We're Motorhead, and we play rock'n'roll". That sums it up perfectly.
