Lemmy must have been into heavy doses of the Ramones while recording this album, because his love for the band is quite evident throughout "Motorizer". In fact there is a fast paced, "punk" rock vibe to many of the songs here in the "Goin' To Brazil" & "R.A.M.O.N.E.S" vein. "Rock Out" does exactly what it promises and then some. Mickey Dee's drumming propels the album from start to finish without pause (no slowed down ballads here). Dee is arguably the best drummer in rock/metal and he proves it here. And friggin' Phil, the man never ceases to amaze me; his playing just keeps getting better. Phil takes his own chops, blends in a wee-wee bit of Chuck Berry, a heavy dose of Thin Lizzy era Brian Robertson (Phil's wah wah pedal tone is killer on this album) and consequently churns out guitar solos and fills that are short, sweet and very wicked. Then you have Lemmy.....'nuff said. I am a longtime fan dating back to the vinyl days. I would hesitate to put "Motorizer" up there with classics like "Overkill" and "Ace Of Spades", but it is darn close.
A great place to start for a newcomer to the band and a definite "add to cart" for current Motorhead fans.

Another great Motorhead album,

It is just amazing, that after a 30+ year career, Lemmy & co. would release their 24th album, with no signs of slowing down or watering down their sound, with the same energy as if it was 1977!
At this point Motorhead have become an institution! Motorheads' success is due to the fact that unlike most metal bands who have survived this long (and very few have), the band has NEVER sold out to current musical trends.. Motorhead has seen punk, NWOBHM, hair metal, grunge, nu-metal and punk come and go back again, and they have always sounded the same: as loud and heavy as ever. Motorhead are as uncompromising as always, which is why they have everyone's respect and this is why they keep on touring and releasing new music! The new album, Motorizer is not a groundbreaking by any manner, but this is not the reason why you listen to Motorhead in the first place.. what you get is what you expect: 11 pounding proto-metal Motorhead tracks loud enough to leave you deaf, with the always genial lyrics Lemmy has always written (hey, Ozzy wouldn't hire just anyone to write songs for him.. there is a reason why he hired Lemmy!) Overall, Motorizer may not be as good a Motorhead's surprisingly successful 2004 album "Inferno", but it doesn't matter.. it is still good enough to enjoy, because nobody writes songs like Lemmy and nobody sounds like Motorhead! This band re-invented and re-defined the way metal sounds forever (just ask Metallica!) and this album will be a great addition to any Motorhead fan's CD collection!

Motorhead-Motorizer ****1/2
Upon first listen Motorizer feels like just another Motorhead album. Yeah, a great motorhead album, well then again Motorhead never really made a bad album did they? Moving on... As you give the album time it seems to grow better with each listen. As Lemmy's lyrics become more recognizable to you the songs seem better that usual. Lemmy really stepped up the lyrics for Motorizer; they are both very personal and intelligent. His bass playing is exception as well ('When The Eagle Screams') much better than usual. Philip Campbell shows his merit here as well. His Wah-Wah tone makes his guitar scream and his riffs are solid and his solos kill! Mikkey Dee proves once again that he just might be the very best drummer in rock n' roll today. This is really his album. 'Runaround Man' is classic Motorhead destined to be a fan favorite as is 'Rock Out.' The latter being very Ramones influenced adding an extra layer of awesome. 'English Rose' kills just about anything out today and 'The Thousand Names Of God' is among the strongest sets of lyrics Lemmy has ever set to paper. 'When The Eagle Screams' is by far the strongest track on the album. Both musically, and lyrically it destroys. Played and sung with passion; the guys really nailed it here. Motorizer is among the very best Motorhead albums. Ace of Spades and Kiss of Death are the only who seem to surpass it.

What else would you expect, these days, from these guys but, keep the fight going! This one cleans your proverbial clock and then some! After only a few listens, the boys from Britian can still grind out that clever sound which distinguishes them from the rest! Mr. Kilmister, Mr. Campbell, and Mr. DEE have done a tremendous job over the last several years keeping true to their sound and the twists just seem to keep coming! One critic said this LP may not be as good as 2004's INFERNO? PLEASE listen again! It's as good or better than that one and KISS OF DEATH/their recent and last excellent studio effort! With such standouts as Rock Out(following a similiar classic style like Iron Fist), Runaround Man(A Sacrifice LP soundalike), Buried Alive, When the Eagle Screams, and a usual weird and metallic rocker like The Thousand Names of God, Motorhead continue to cement their place in music history as true icons
of loud rock 'n' roll! With this effort, fans like myself can truly appreciate that famous term STICK TO YOUR GUNS!! ALL HAIL MOTORHEAD!! Thanks again Lemmy, Phil, and Mikey for continuing to reign as true masters of fast edge, sometimes blues & punk driven, hard rocking, heavy metal!

Not Ace of Spades, but their best since,
This review is from: Motorizer (Audio CD)
There is nothing fancy, sophisticated or classy about Lemmy Kilmister but, in his own words, 'that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live forever'. And so, whether you are a fan or not of him and his music, there is something fundamentally reassuring about the way in which he and Motorhead never seem to change. 'Motorizer' is as brutal and full of energy as any other Motorhead album over the years and if you've been a long term fan, you will simply lap this album up. Speaking however as someone that can appreciate the great man and his music rather than actually like a lot of it, I don't think that there are any individual tracks here to rival past glories such as 'Ace Of Spades', 'Bomber' or (my personal favourite) 'Killed By Death'. This said, 'The Runaround Man', 'Heroes' and the hilarious 'Rock Out' (with your cock out!) could all become favorites in time. That Lemmy and his band are still producing punishing, aggressive and 'dirty' rock and roll over 30 years into a musical career is a tribute to them and, let's face it, there's no-one that quite 'cranks up the volume' like Motorhead, is there? 'Motorizer' is a solid and consistent set, that delivers EXACTLY what you would expect it to.

This is my first review so here I go.
This new album is in my opinion their best in a while it still has that thrash metal vibe to it which I really dig and includes a blues influenced track Back on the Chain which in my opinion is the highlight of the album. All in all this is a great album and a must have for Motorhead fans.

They never stop...,

There's a lot of rock and roll and metal bands out there that have had rather long careers. The Ramones, AC/DC, Metallica, Cheap Trick, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest. The list goes on.
As these bands age a few things always happen. Either they slow down, their music gets softer, their music gets worse, and/or they just don't release as many albums as they did in their earlier days. Motorhead, however, has fallen prey to NONE of these problems. It seems that no matter how old they get (the collective age of this fine trio as of Motorizers release: 153 years old) Motorhead continues to be the same band we've always loved. They play some very heavy punky bluesy rock, and they play it as fast and loud as always, and they give us a new album at least every three years, if not sooner. Motorizer, like the 18 studio albums before it, continues this fine tradition, and it does it well. Lemmy's lyrics are still from the gut, the music still hits hard, and the melodies are still tough and surprisingly hooky. Fans will have plenty to like on this one (lets face it, if you've heard anything this bands done since 1993 you know EXACTLY what this album sounds like), and while (at least to me) its not quite as good as the magnificent "Inferno" or "Kiss Of Death," it IS just as good as anything else they've done since "Ace Of Spades." And that amazing level of prolific consistency is something truly amazing. We should all be happy that there's a band like Motorhead in the world.

Yep, its the best Motorhead album since the last best Motorhead album!
The production, to my ears, sounds more stripped down than the last few records with Lemmy's bass pushed to the fore once again. Hallelujah! Also, the overall sounds is more "punky" than it is "metal". Think OVERKILL era 'Head. In fact, the band even reference the relentless bass damaged groove of "Damage Case" on one track ("Back on the Chain"), and Mickey Dee cops the drum intro from 'White Line Fever' for another . Nice! Cheers to you if you know what I'm talkin' about. I was lucky enough to see 'em at a teeny club in SF on the Ace of Spades tour when I was just 13! And even saw the great Robo lineup, capezios and all. Kind of lost track of 'em in the mostly forgetable late 80's and 90's but am glad to see Lemmy back in such good fighting shape after all these years. Sure makes ME feel young! Cant wait to see the band again for the first time in 25 years...you should all pay homage to the man before its too late (too late). He turns 65 in 2010!!

MOTORIZER IS TURBO CHARGED,

Another great cd by the hard rocking Motorhead ! This one will get ya into gear and motoring faster than a top fuel rail off of the starting tree. When the eagle screams is my fav off of the album. Our brave heros of the airborne 101st screaming eagles should have this one as their theme song. Thats what I think of when I listen to it. Lemmie vocals are on spot, Mickey Dees drums are pounding and Campbells riffs are killer. I have personally gone nuts over this band. Down to roots ole rock n roll just on another speed. How they get so many different rythmns and riffs out of 3 guys and continued to roll out cd after cd is amazing. I also have to say that another thing that I love about Lemmie is that his lyrics make me laugh outloud at times, I dont know about others but some of his lines are just ridiculously funny to me. MY bud in the local music store agrees with me, I was afraid to say anything at first but once I did he immeadiately agreed. Yes in my opinion Motorhead helps ya relieve stress full out rock n roll with songs that cover the human experience good and bad and you can laugh too. Anyway yeah Motorizer is a darn good one to spin. They all are ! If your not a Motorhead yet try it I think you'll like it.
