My dad had me purchase this mic for work because he hated wearing the earpiece all day and is very happy with the change.

Works great. As a detention officer this mic comes in handy when dealing with inmates. It keeps my hands free so I can stay on guard and when in a scuffle it is easier to get to rather than trying to get my radio off my hip. Also makes it much easier to hear the radio and reduces my asking to repeat. If your patrolling the streets spend a little more to get better quality.

Built like Motorola's radios,

I ordered a Motorola remote Speaker Microphone last week to use while at work and I have to say that even though the price tag is a little high it is worth every penny.
I've used the two most common varieties of cheap china made speaker microphones available online and they really aren't much good, neither build or the audio quality compare to the authentic Motorola. I think it even one ups some other competitors stock mics. I used it the day after I got it, while working in the crawlspace above a theater ceiling. Plugged it into my radio on the back of my belt and stretched the cord up, over my shoulder and clipped the mic onto the chest strap of my harness. The audio quality was identical, both on the send and the receive, to the radio alone and its easy to tell that this thing will take some abuse, the lapel clip in replaceable in a similar fashion to the stand radio belt-clips should it ever be needed, though I doubt the clip will go before the cord (which may be replaceable too, given the quality of Motorola's customer service)
