We use these in a restaurant to facilitate communication among the staff. So far they have been a valuable asset.

OK - but that's it,
This review is from: Motorola 56517 Earpiece with Inline Push-to-Talk Microphone (Electronics)
We use these in a very busy restaurant. For us these typically last about 2 years before the button stops working on them. There is a new type that I like better that doesn't go all the way around your ear. The new ones feel better as they hook just from the top of the ear. Had 2 of another type also, the one with the bud in the ear and the buttons also pooped out on those - one after 4 years, the other after 2 years.
All in all they're OK but consider them "disposable." The multi-charger I rated as a one star but the walkies themselves are AWESOME. We have some that are 5 years old and still have the same batteries and work fine.

I am a golfing rules official. We constantly use radios since we have normally a few people covering a very wide area. Since we do not want to disturb a player with a blast on the radio's speaker, we use earpieces. I have big ears, so I had to cut the bottom of the earpiece. In other words, it kinda hangs on the top of my ear, and is open at the bottom. Works VERY well, however. I have had several of the in-ear earpieces, but definitely prefer this. The microphone portion means that I can leave the radio on my belt when answering queries. Highly recommended

In my job I am often required to have a two way radio on me and listening for 12 - 14 hours a day. (medical first response) I have used different kinds of ear pieces similar to this over the last 20 years and I prefer the over the ear type like this rather then the in the ear ear bud type. The single wire construction of this and the brand were both factors in the purchase (other types had 2 wires more hassle) I did find in the long run that if you wore this for many hours your ear would get a little sore but that was due to the hard rubber ring around your ear. In order to relieve the pressure around my ear I cut the rubber earpiece in the middle behind my ear and because it was stiff rubber it still stays in place with no problem and now is more comfortable over many hours. I get many comments on my style of ear piece from other workers using the in ear style since they see this is more comfortable. I have had no problems with button not working (after 2 years) and I just finished an 8 month project and having to use this unit every day with no real problems. I gave this a 4 star for design of closed ear ring rather then either hook or the cut style I did myself which still keeps the ear piece close to me ear to have good sound quality but over all I am happy with this unit. By the way I have used the in ear bud style and got ear canal irritation after the long hours of in the ear rubbing, besides not being able to hear anything from outside the ear when needed.

Works decently. Volume is fine, receives clearly. I also bought two others that were slightly more expensive. My staff prefers the ones that do not have an enclosed earpiece. The other one seems to fit everyone. I'd buy them again, if the other ones were not available.

Work great, for about 2 weeks. Then it wouldn't let me call out. Sound quality is great. I can see it being uncomfortable for long periods on someone with larger ears. This is the third motorola product in a row I have purchased that didn't even make it a year. Their cheaper products are just that, cheap. If you want it to last a while you have to purchase their higher quality products. I now have a Yuasu model that I bought used. It works much better.

We purchased several of these for use at our veterinary hospital and kennel. So far we have been pleased with the headsets. They definitely make the radios easier to use in noisy environments. Some of our staff members have found them uncomfortable after extended wear - this has not been an issue for me personally. We have only been using them for a couple months, so it's to early to comment on their durability.

Good price however, wanted to test this item for bulk order, they sent me the wrong type. I did not even bother to send it back, was not worth the money to exchange it. Just collecting dust, found another distributor to deal with. Price you have to pay for dealing with things on line
