Some Love it some hate it,
By
This review is from: Motorola H700 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The H700, some love it, some hate it. Wherever you fall, a lot of people are talking about it.
PRO's / CON's It is comfortable and light. / Depending on the size of your face, your cheek may block the microphone resulting in muffled sound. If you are a lady with long hair that falls over your ear it will get caught in the boom microphone and snagged by the rubber tip as you flip the boom open and closed to answer calls. Distance is quoted as up to 30 feet / Some phone combinations have distance issues if the headset and phone are not on the same side of your body. Pairs well with my Motorola Razr V3 and Cingular 8125. / Other phones and PDA's have problems SO your mileage may vary. The controls are small, multifunction (each button does may things) and are easy to access but hey, they are on the side of your head. Microphone is Very sensitive / People have complained about wind noise, echoes in rooms, and "Who else is in the car with you ?" Headset volume is loud, louder than most / Its adjustable so this is a good thing. The headset lights up in four different colors to show various status (charging, pairing, standby etc) / You can turn off the flashing blue 'dork lamp' but it will come back on after the headset is turned off and on again. A note a caution 1. This is a young product and the complaints and returns have resulted in two versions (Version A and Version B) of this headset in the market. Version B fixes a number of problems that version A had with certain phones. 2. Distance is POOR compare to other headsets and even other Motorola Bluetooth products. I have changed my headset and Cingular has replaced the phones (Razr V3 and 8125) twice with no improvement. Distance is less than 10 feet with Static and dropped calls. Do not expect to leave your phone in the car and pump gas or get the mail without complaints. Some folks with the Verizon V3C Razr have reported getting better distance but nothing past 15 feet. 3. Motorola gives you 30 days to try and return with refund, However the return shipping is ON YOU. So with shipping / tracking / insurance expect to spend another $5 even if its their problem, and there are problems with this headset. If its longer than 30 days, you are stuck with it. I would give it 5 stars for Style, 3 stars for execution, 2 stars for how well it works, and 1 star for their support policy. Google "Motorola H700 problems", make an informed decision. If you can, try before you buy. $100 May Not buy you the best, maybe just the smallest. I am waiting on Motorola to replace it one last time. UPDATE Product was returned and received by Motorola 6/15. A new one was to go out 2 day FedEx. 22 Days later I received it today 7/7, just the headset. NO charger, manual, case, or warranty card. Dead as a door nail with no charger to check it. After 30 minutes on hold they will now replace the Whole product as ordered and returned #98686H. Would not refund shipping charges. For those contemplating a replacement make sure they send out the latest headset part # SYN1311B. Remember a company is as the sum of its parts, support 0 stars.

Finally! Noice cancellation that works!,
By Shannon Moon (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Motorola H700 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've gone through nearly a dozen different models of bluetooth headsets, and this is the best one yet.
The echo supression and noise cancellation features are excellent. I had qualms about getting a headset with such a short boom mic, but I have no problem driving on the highway with the sunroof open. Callers say that can hear me without a problem. High-winds can be a little problematic unless I shield the mic boom, but that's the case whether I'm on a headset or using the phone directly. Note that I have version B of this headset. I've heard that others with the original version have had problems with sound quality and noise cancellation. My only complaint is that it seems a bit more fragile than other headsets I've used in the path (like the behemoth logitechs) but so far its stood up to weeks of abuse being tucked into pockets or haphazardly tossed in a backpack.

Beware Counterfeit,
By Informed Shopper "hal2007" (CO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Motorola H700 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Oh boy have I got a story about the Motorola H700. Wanted two of these to go with our brand new RAZR phones. Obtained two in what looked like genuine Motorola packagin. Turns out that using the Motorola guide to counterfeit items these two ( obtained from two different online low cost discount places) were in fact counterfeit. Working with Motorola we were able to obtain two genuine Motorola H700s.
The counterfeits looked just fine and to the average consumer would never be questioned to be the real deal. The counterfeits are of low quality in actual performance. I am convinced that when you see poor reviews of the H700 it is because they have a counterfeit. The genuine H700 is a miniature work of art. The R&D Motorola has put into this headset is amazing. The quality of the sound is amazing. It has worked outside in strong winds, in noisy environments, in automobiles, and in nice quiet places and it is absolutely awesome. This is the type of product that makes Motorola a world class outfit. WOW! The difference between the fake and the real one is like the difference between a 1964 VW Beetle and a Marine Corps F-18. Just not a whole lot of comparisons are available. The old story. You get what you pay for. When you see this selling for $20 on Ebay its a fake and you will be unhappy with the product. If you obtain one from a genuine dealer you will have to pay more and you will end up with the real H700 and you will have a bluetooth headset that you will not believe. Its kind of like you just moved into the modern world. Just the difference between a H850 which is 4th generation and the real H700 which is 5th generation is impressive. The H700 is smaller, has the newest chip which is actually fantastic, and puts out such sound that even somebody like me with reduced hearing has to lower the volume. Wow! Get the real one. It is worth it. By the way this one is a "c" model. Talked with Motorola about the "A" & "B" thing being different for different models of phones etc. They said that was basically hogwash. The letters a, b, c, etc. simply are put on in the order of production. So a "C" is a newer model of the H700 than an "A" of the H700. There may be some advantage to that if changes were made but I don't believe there is any way for the consumer to know that. Buying genuine Motorola is the key. Avoid counterfeits. If you are shipped a counterfeit that you can determine using the Motorola guide I suggest: 1. find the F.B.I. online complaint form and fill it out. The F.B.I. is charged with combating Intellectual Property Rights violations. 2. If it was shipped via the U.S. Postal Service go find the complaint form for the Post Office and the Postal Inspector can get involved. If you are a criminal and you deal in counterfeits you make a mistake shipping that illegal product via the U.S. Postal Service. 3. Contact Motorola. They have a vested interest in having the consumer happy and not complaining about a product that is not even genuine Motorola. They have spent a lot of money in R&D and they are entitled to a profit on that item. They tell me they prosecute when possible.

Finally found a winner!,

I have to agree with Shannon Moon. I have tried at least 5 Bluetooth headsets without any success. And the most common complaint is that people cannot hear me without a lot of background noise and echoing. While I have only had the H700 one day, so far it appears to have resolved all the problems. I spent about 20 minutes using it in the truck, walking through the parking lot, in the store and back home again; "tech-son" said it was clear the entire time without background noise or echo. And I could hear him perfectly even with all the noises and music playing in the store. The only difficulty was when I put it in my pants pocket, there was some slight static, even on the same side of my body as the headset. I haven't tried a shirt/jacket pocket yet or perhaps clipped to my belt might work better.
Distance doesn't seem to be a problem. I have walked about 20 feet away from the phone and there is still a connection. But it will not reach 30 feet as most literature indicates. I am using the H700 with a Razr V3c. As for comfort and size, I love it. And this has been my biggest complaint with all of the other headsets I have tried. I am a woman with small ears and cannot stand something inside my ear; I have been trying behind-the-ear and over-the-ear styles. None of them have seemed to fit without flopping around, hurting my ear or feeling like they would fall off. And I wanted one that would feel secure even when working in the yard or with my dog, and was discrete. The H700 is it! Fits easily and securely over the ear, light weight and hides behind my hair. Does not seem like it will fall off very easily and you can hardly feel that it is there. If the rest of my life with the H700 is like the first day, this one is a keeper!

Motorola H700 Headset,

This review is from: Motorola H700 Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I purchased the Motorola Headset after receiving numrous complaint regarding the sound quality frmo the Jabra BT500 headset I had been using. The noise cancellation is excellent. No longer do I have people complaining that I sound like I am on an airport runway. Everyone speaks highly of the clarity of our conversation. The Motorola H700 is small, lightweight, and paired easily with my telephone. I highly recommend this headset for any user who depends on a mobile telphone. The only minus is the battery life seems to be short. 3 to 4 hours before requiring a recharge. This is probably good for most but I have to "feed" the headset at least once a day. Great headset - you should seriously consider buying one!

You may find a slighty better sounding headset,

But you wont find a better choice at this time. The on off switch by folding the headset and the easy to push buttons make all the difference in the world. Don't believe me, then purchase the Jabra or one of the other headsets, place it in your pocket or purse and answer a call from your phone. Chances are you will have forgotten to turn the unit off and your caller will be live wherever you left your Bluetooth headset within 30 feet. The H700 folds when you take it off your ear and when it folds, it turns off. Sounds good reasonably priced and effective, Its that simple !!

I paired the Motorola H700 with a Samsung M500 by following the instructions and it worked perfectly. I charge it at night and keep the mike closed when I'm not using it. I wasn't sure I would benefit from the wireless technology, as the wired earphones worked just fine. I use the wireless H700 much more than I used the wired earphones both at home and in the car. I like the voice dial and the Sprint Voice Command service to make the connection and I use I make more calls due the extra convenience. I added a Contact called Voice with the phone number of *, which then connects to the Sprint Voice Command list I uploaded earlier. I sounds kind of geeky, but it saves me from entering lots of phone numbers that I may only need occasionally. I haven't had the occasion to leave walk too far from my phone, so distance is not an issue. It is comfortable to wear, despite some rubbing on the back of my ear at first.

I have a drawer of rejected bluetooth hardware. This one, will not be added to the pile. I thought I would give this model a try as a replacement when I lost one of my HS850 models. I worried about its super tiny size and the performace output. I am not disappointed, in fact, I am delighted with this little unit.
*Lightweight, very comfortable on ear. Because it is tiny, it does not have the weight to make it flop around on my ear or against my cheek. *I was impressed with the battery life of my HS850s, averaging 5-6 hours of active use, but this one far surpasses it with a first day talk time of over 10 solid hours and was still going when I hung it up for the day. Superb battery life. *Similar features as HS850. I will have to read how to turn off flashing lights, I hate the attention they bring. What do I care if it is a slow or fast blue pulse for active or nonactive, I cannot see it on my ear! People look at me like a freak, or complain that I am on a call, when I am not, because I walk around with it active to catch calls as they come in. *Favorite feature: the VOLUME! Other than a premium in the ear Bluetooth (Plantronics)I have used - and only quit using because after duration it causes great inner ear pain - this is the first bluetooth I do not have to shove against my ear while driving or in noisy environments (such as a store). What is the point of handsfree use if I have to hold one hand against my ear to hear? This one has not been above volume 5 yet (max is 7), and others say I am coming through loud and clear enough. *As with all bluetooths, because of the extreme amount of frequencies there are now days in the air (microwaves, wireless remotes, wireless laptops/computers, wireless phones, iPods, etc.), the bluetooth signal will break up when moving too far from phone. I can usually move around to a few rooms of my home before the static. It is not any better or worse than any other bluetooth I have used. Bottom line, a great bluetooth, this merchant is the cheapest around for this model number, and not a junky refurbished unit either, like others I have ordered in the past elsewhere. Very pleased.

Used it everyday for one year,
By Carl E Perry (Indianapolis, IN, USA) - See all my reviews

I used this headset everyday for a year before the battery went dead. I would charge it over night and it would last over an hour straight when it was new but over time the battery life would only last about half an hour. As for the sound quality, As the listener, I thought it was great. It was as clear as the phone. My wife would complain though when I would use it while talking to her. She could tell a difference on the other end and didn't like me using it.
All in all after considerable use of this product, I would not recommend this product. I love my Motorola Razr phone, but with the H700 the negatives out weigh the positives. It is compact, wireless, and good listening quality, but the battery time/life are small, and the microphone quality are poor. |
