Nice, but not Perfect,
By
This review is from: RB Motorola V3c Razr Camera Bluetooth phone for Verizon (Electronics)
The Verizon Wireless RAZR V3c in "orchid pink" is a great looking phone. I'm 100% girlie girl, so I had to have it. The sound is great, and it has a lot of great features. My three previous phones had been LG, so it took me a day to get used to the interface of this Motorola. Also, I've heard Verizon changed some of the features so customers have to use their Get-it-Now and V-Cast features. It would have been nice to have both options. Also, the phone's key pad DOES NOT glow pink. In the ads and pictures it looks like it does, but nope. It's a blue backlight just like all the other RAZR phones. That's really not that big a deal, but I thought I'd throw it out there. The camera is nice-- much better than any other I've had on any of my phones. I like the feature that allows you to close the phone and see yourself in the window while taking a picture. The video features are also great. I bought the matching bluetooth headset, and this is my FAVORITE part. All I have to do is say call whoever, and it dials. I didn't have to program voice recognition or anything. I LOVE that. The only disappointing thing is that you don't have the flexibility to change the color scheme. There's a Verizon red border and you can't get rid of it or customize to match your wall paper. Granted that's not a big deal, but it sure would be nice. Other than that, it's a fabulous phone and I'm loving being Pretty In Pink! :)

Could Be SO Much Better!,
This review is from: RB Motorola V3c Razr Camera Bluetooth phone for Verizon (Electronics)
Let me say, I love my pink phone, but thank God I didn't pay full price for it.Pet Peeves: 1. Changing display themes does not get rid of the RED Verizon bar across the top and bottom of the display. 2. Banner length too short - Can't fit my first and last name. 3. No Memo space in the contact list. 4. No Work2 phone number space in the contact list. 5. Groups (Business, Personal, Friends, Family, etc.) each only hold 10(!) names. Only ten!!! I don't know about anyone else, but I know a lot more than 10 people to put in a business category and LOTS more than 10 friends and more than 10 family. My KIDS each know more than 10 people to put in each of their Friends categories! 6. The pictures loaded on the phone for wallpaper and screensavers are locked, can't be deleted individually, and you have to delete all of them BEFORE you start adding other pictures or you end up with them cluttering up your gallery forever. 7. The ringtones loaded on this phone suck eggs, and Verizon's Get It Now site doesn't have any others to choose from for this phone. Third-party websites don't seem to support this carrier and phone combo, yet, either, so I'm stuck with the sucky ringtones. So, that's my laundry list of things that are bad about the operating system on this phone after having it for two days. I have to admit I was lured by the uber-coolness of the phone and a cut-rate on the purchase price and the fact that it's Pink!

Not a 'real' RAZR, poor performance, not worth it!,

Verizon's CDMA phones all have external antennas. This RAZR V3c doesn't which explains it's poor performance. It has weak reception compared to other Verizon phones, and very poor battery life.I think Verizon only lobbied to carry this phone because of the popularity of the RAZR on GSM networks such as T-Mobile and Cingular. Note that the GSM networks don't require an external antenna and also those phones are typically smaller and lighter as well. Which brings me to my final point-this RAZR V3c isn't even the same size as the GSM RAZR, it's larger and heavier! So, while this phone says "RAZR" it's really a different phone than the slim, light and tiny GSM RAZR that is so popular everywhere.

Despite a handful of negatives, the compact design & bluetooth ability make this a great phone. Those are the main reasons to buy the phone, especially since Verizon offers very few thin phones with bluetooth as alternatives. Bluetooth & voice recognition are great. Pretty accurate voice recognition all things considered.Regarding the previous post about the ringtones..yes, the default ones suck but you can add your own using the Motorola Phone Tools software (sold separately). If you do use the MPT, be sure to overwrite the "modems.pac" file that can be downloaded from a variety of online forums (ie - Use Google and search for "motorola razr v3c modems.pac"). The pac file enables the full suite of functions so you can copy & edit mp3, pictures, & phonebook to your phone using your computer (ie - no need to pay extra to use Verizon's Get It Now ringtones). DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE. After mail-in rebate, you can get this phone for less than $100 & new 2-year contract. The 10 contacts per group limitation is VERY ANNOYING. Why in the world would they ever limit the phonebook in this manner? Too much emphasis on the "cool" stuff and not enough on the basics of a phone (ie - phonebook). Unfortunately, I think they intended these as "distribution groups", not contact categories.

Pink and loving it!,

I have had the pink razr for several months now and have been pretty pleased with it. I waited several months before purchasing it upon hearing rumors that it wasn't exactly the greatest phone. Finally when the price went down I decided to take the plunge anyway. I must admit my needs are pretty simple- give me something sleek, pink, functional and pink and I will love it- and I did! I am also a ringtones junkie and have been very impressed by the sound quality of my ringtones- although the con being that I haven't been able to find COOL free ringtones yet (You have to pay for the VCAST pack)The only downer I have experienced with the pink razr is not the phone itself but to pink bluetooth motorola headset that matches it. While it looks cool the maximum volume is too low, even with other verizon customers.

Maybe by throwing it against a brick wall or running over it with my car. Why did Verizon cripple this phone so badly? Well of course, the answer is money. You can't do anything on this phone without paying Verizon for the privlidge. Think the ability to have mp3 ringtones means you can assign your favorite tunes to each friend? Only if you happen to like Verizons very limited selection of rings because unless you're willing to void your waranty and possibly ruin your phone by flashing it you can't really do anything on it that isn't filtered through the Verizon condom.Having gotten that off my chest it handles the basics well enough. The reception is good, the sound clear, the calendar is really very wonderful when paired with Mobile Phone Tools software (29.99 that should have come free with the phone) which allows you to sync up with your PC and the keypad is actually comfortble even for text messaging. It isn't a bad phone really, but I expected so much more from it that its a disappointment. Shame on Verizon for crippling this potentially great phone and shame on me for being lured in to buying it by its pretty face without getting to know it first.

I love my pink phone but there is somethings that make me want to throw it out the window:1. The battery doesn't last long at all! Maybe a day, MAYBE. 2.You can't change the color of the red bars at the top and bottom of the screen. They drive me nuts! 3.You can't see the time and date on the front screen. After about 20 seconds it just goes off. 4.The games that were on it were demo's. I mean come on! I paid alot for this phone and all they give me is demos? 5.The ringtones are so horrible! But you can download them off of get it now. 6.You can only take 15 second video's. That is all the things I hate about my phone but I do love some things too! I love the camera, the get it now feature, the calendar, and of course the color!

well im 16 [writing kids review because i dont have my own amazon account] and when i first got my pink razr from verizon wireless i loved it especially because its pink, but now that ive had it for 2 months or so im not so fond of it. first off, it takes about eight seconds to clear to the home screen, and that takes forever, the phone in general is slow. also theres an obnoxious buzzing in the earpiece. Im stuck with this phone for a while, and am not to happy with it.

I love it and its Pink!,

I had a samsung and didn't want to give it up but I dropped it! ooops. I bought the Motorola Razor and I absolutely love this phone! And it's Pink, cause I'm a girl! The voice dialing has improved and is now software controlled instead of your own voice. It is more acurate and uses a one touch button on the side of the phone. I'm a lazy dialer so talking to my phone to dial out is fabulous. This phone is so thin it fits in my wallet which is great when I don't want to take along my purse. Way to go Motorola! Update 11-27-06 After talking to numerous people who own this phone I found that your cell company service makes a big difference when using this phone. I have Verizon and it is totally compatible with their software and works fine. I heard from other people and read that there were alot of compatibility problems between this phone and Cingular service. Supposedly that is better now...(?) The only glitch I have had with this phone is every so often the voice dialing does not connect and goes back to the main screen. It does not happen enough to bother me because I really like everything about the phone. A nice feature of this phone is the ease in which to scroll through menus, take photos, videos and download ringtones. This is my first phone with those features. One of the reasons I bought this phone was to have personalized ringtones. You can set a photo and a ringtone to each person in your address book. When they call their song plays and their picture shows on the screen. I know most phones do this now but I didn't have one prior to my Razor. I downloaded songs from the VZ site and it was painless once I figured it out! My Mom recently bought the newer version of this phone (VC3M-I think) and her phone does not seem to work as well as mine. But she likes it anyway. Another thing I did was buy the matching Pink vehicle charger, I just had to, couldn't help myself. Bought one for my Mom as well. Hope you find this review helpful.

I had my doubts with this phone before I bought it. Particularly with the no-exterior antennae thing. However, I've had no difficulty at all getting reception with this phone. I happened to be in a limo with a wedding party and two other people had razrs trying to make calls. Alas, they had cingular and their calls were dropped. But not mine! ;)The things that aren't so great about the phone? Dumb ringtones....but with the ability to download one, I didn't care too much. Also, the ok button is tiny and kinda hard to push. There are not as many customising features as I've been used to on other phones, such as being able to change your background colors, etc. I've dropped my phone a few times already on my hardwood floors (by accident!), and it seems sturdy. Although I wouldn't recommend dropping it on purpose! At least when its closed, its sturdy. All in all, I've been happy with the phone. |
