Sure, you may get some strange looks walking around spurting commands, but it's just so techy. 20 years ago you would have undergone psychiatric evaluation - now it's normal.
For incoming calls the CommandOne will speak the caller ID of the incoming call. You say either "answer" or "ignore" - Ignore will send the call to voicemail.
The charger uses the standard mini-USB cable - the same one the Droid uses (and many other newer phones) so you can use the same charger cable (USB from your laptop, for example) - just plug it in and go. An A/C charger is included - so you can use it with the CommandOne or your cell phone! Nice additional benefit.
When you first turn on the CommandOne you hear a battery status - the CommandOne actually tells you how full the battery is (there's also a colored status LED.) Not paired, or cell phone Bluetooth not on? The CommandOne will give you instructions. After you pair, make sure the phone's Bluetooth is on before the CommandOne is turned on - then you won't hear the instructions- You'll hear "xxx connected".Read more ›
Enter Motorola's CommandOne Bluetooth Headset. WOW! I had the opportunity to use this first. I found it much more comfortable to wear and easier to use. I enjoy how the device tells when the status of the bluetooth. I also like how it respond to my voice commands to pick up the phone when it's ringing. It easily connected and worked smoothly with my Samsung Flight A797. I really enjoyed this headset while I had it.
Eventually, I gave the Motorola Bluetooth Headset to my husband. I figured this would be the true test on the sound and voice quality of this device. He uses it with his iPhone 4. WOW AGAIN! This bluetooth made a huge difference in the quality of our communication! Way less background noise and more of my husband's voice. It works so well that there are times I ask if he's still there. HUGE difference from the cheap headset he had the last time. (I hated that thing!)
However, these are the problems my husband has encountered. The Motorola seems to take longer to connect/reconnect to his iPhone 4. (I did not have this problem with my Samsung, so I'm wondering if the issue is with the iPhone itself.) The rubber piece that covers the charging port falls off. (My husband, despite being a truck driver, is not rough with his stuff and neither is he heavy-handed. This is why I knocked of a star on this otherwise 5-star device.) Other than that, he's been very pleased with his headset.Read more ›
The sound quality is great. No echoes, repeated "WHAT?!"s yelled on either end of the call, and no weird tinny sound like some other Bluetooth headsets I've tried. This is all thanks to the "dual-mic noise cancellation," I gather.
What I love most about it is the voice-activated answering. When a phone call comes in, you can say "answer" or "ignore" and it will do whichever you command. And it's big selling feature: if you download MotoSpeak (a free app for Blackberry and Android devices), the headset will let you know of incoming text messages and read them to you! There's a tiny lag between when my phone receives the message and when the headset tells me about it, but if you're driving, it's super handy. And if you have a Droid, you can dictate your reply back! (Haven't been able to test that out -- with my BB I can only hear incoming messages.)
The battery life is great so far. I have only charged it once, but it's still at level "high" (according to the voice that tells you battery level when you start it up) several weeks later. Granted, I only turn it on when I need to use it, which is only for a half hour or so a day, but I expected typical small battery drain from non-use, which I've not experienced with this model thus far.
My one qualm is the power switch -- it feels kind of flimsy. Not that you could break it off, because it's inset, but someone with big fingers might find it hard to turn on and off. Definitely not a dealbreaker.
The package (which is hard plastic and very un-green, btw) comes with the headset, different-sized ear cushions to get the right fit, charging cord, MotoSpeak app instructions, and headset manual.
