This review is from: Motorola DECT Cordless Handset for the L3xx and L4xx Series, Black (L4) (Office Product)
I bought this product about two months ago to replace my Uniden phones which had terrible battery life. I did not know that Motorola made home phones, so I was interested because of my experience with their other electronic devices. I read some reviews and went ahead and made the purchase because of great price and Motorola toughness. These phones have great battery life so far. My other Unidens (don't remember the model), started showing significant less battery life by this time. So, I am happy about the batteries. The phone is just plain, but seems to be well constructed as I had expected. The remote features of the phone are not explained too well in the instruction manual, but a little common sense and trial and error has overcome much of what is not in the manual. Hey, they crank out products so fast nowadays, your head's a spinnin. When was the last time you bought a car where the manual was specifically tailored to your vehicle? The manuals are usually broad ranging to encompass many of the same kinds...I can't blame them. All in all, I am happy with these phones. I originally only purchased the base with answering machine and cordless. I waitied about a month and then, being satisfied, ordered two more cordless for the base. Hope this helps...later.

I just wanted to offer a comment about Motorola phones; a lesson I learned the hard way.
I bought a Motorola cordless phone H101. The phone worked fine for 6 months and then just stopped working. Motorola has engaged a company called "Encompass" to process returns for at least some models of their cordless phones, including the H101. This was a brand new Motorola cordless phone and I was surprised to learn Motorola itself was not handling problems. Encompass gave me the run around for a month after I mailed the phone back for replacement - we can't find a record of your incident, we can't confirm we received the phone back (even though I sent them a copy of the US certified mail receipt), etc... I truly view Encompass as a criminal enterprise after my experience dealing with them. I have no doubt they make money every time they wear down a customer seeking a replacement phone. I gave up - $30 is not worth the aggravation or time. I bought a Panasonic and have been happy so far. I contacted Motorola corporate to get help and they didn't even reply. That Motorola would associate itself with such a sham outfit as Encompass is disappointing. I have owned several Motorola phones in my life but I will never buy another. How am I to know that if something goes wrong I won't have to deal with an outfit like Encompass??? Fool me once....

I purchased this phone, because mainly the name. I've had Motorola cell phones in the past and they never failed me, so I thought I would look for a more suitable replacement for the Phillips cordless I had which was beyond problematic. It was hard to use, and the instructions were too confusing. Thank god for this phone. Not only is it user friendly, but I also purchased the corded version, and I love the way that you can still retrieve your voicemail messages from the base phone. Whereas with the much more expensive Phillips phone I couldn't. I highly recommend this phone.
