Equipped with 1.9 GHz DECT 6.0 technology for sound clarity, you can feel comfortable your little one will come through loud and clear when they need you. The MBP16 Digital Audio Baby Monitor by Motorola is the perfect choice for any parent or caregiver.

Motorola MBP 16 Baby Monitor
LCD display shows real-time sound and activity levels, as well as ambient temperature
1.9GHz DECT 6.0 Technology with LCD Display

The 1.9GHz DECT 6.0 technology offers a more reliable wireless connection over previous cordless technologies such as 900MHz cordless antennas. That means better range and less chance of missing something important in your baby's room due to a weak or dropped signal.

A monochrome LCD display shows real-time sound and activity levels, as well as the ambient temperature of the room that the transmitter is sitting in, letting you can keep informed of what's going on visually as well as audibly.

Room Temperature Monitor

The MBP16's transmitter is equipped with a room temperature sensor which is reported on the receiver's LCD display. You can ensure that it never gets too hot or too cold for your little one.

Data Encryption for Security

The Motorola MBP16 encrypts the audio data it transfers for added security and peace of mind.

Up to 300M Range with "Out-of-Range" Warning

The superior wireless range of the MBP16 lets you keep connected to your baby up to 300 meters away. So even if you have a larger home, you don't have to give up safety or the ability to stay connected to your little one. An alarm sounds when you're getting out of range of the transmitting unit, so you'll never have to wonder if you're close enough to hear what's going on.

So it activates when it hears a sound above a certain level instead of constantly playing all sounds in the room.

I think I should start a career reviewing baby monitors at this point, I've tried so many of them. I had such high hopes for this one, I pre-ordered it and waited for it to arrive while using the Angelcare monitor (piece of junk--although at least I could hear my kids even through the static--unlike this one...).

The low down:
It's nice looking and has a lot great features (talk back, temperature, good battery life, clear sound, DECT so no interference and wifi friendly, good range)...

BUT the biggest problem is there is no way to adjust the child unit (box in kid's room) microphone sensitivity. And there is no way to set either unit to hear constant sound from your child's room. The parent unit is sound-sensitive. So it activates when it hears a sound above a certain level instead of constantly playing all sounds in the room. But just in the first week of using it, there have been at least two occasions where my son was crying for me and I heard him from down the hall (after who knows how long) instead of the monitor. The monitor was totally silent. I felt so horrible, knowing he was calling me and I didn't hear him. Isn't that the whole point of a monitor??

I called Motorola and the customer support guy agreed that being able to keep the sound on full time or at least being able to increase the sensitivity would be a good feature. Yeah, I know.

So now, I sit here next to my silent monitor. (if you hit the talk button, you will hear all sounds in the room including ambient noise like our white noise machine--but only for about ten seconds and then it goes back to "stealth mode")
So I am compulsively waking up and pressing that button just to make sure it's working. I can't stand this.

Sending it back. I'm going back to Philips DECT.
Don't waste your time with this one. If they get it worked out, it'll be a nice machine. Maybe the next model will work properly.

Had this monitor for almost a year. Unplugged the base unit accidentally and now the parent units will not link. Searching on Google shows hundreds of the exact same complaint and no working solutions. Be warned.

Overall I am happy with this purchase. However there is one (1) Major draw back, that is the baby unit does not have any battery and is required to be plugged in all the time, if there is power cut or a failed breaker during the night you will lose contact with your baby.

If you accidentally unplug the unit you will lose communication. Not good hopefully the next release will have rechargeable batteries in both units

This unit worked fine for a year and a half then we unplugged it to move furniture and it never worked again. Parent units will not link, spend your money elsewhere.

This monitor unlinks itself throughout the night and beeps insanely loudly every time!! we live in a small apartment and the monitor is pretty much 10 feet from where the base is in baby's room, and we are all asleep until it happens, so it isn't out of range. so frustrating!! going to return it.

There appears to be a chronic problem with this products power button. A video of the priblem can be found at [...] (I could not upload it as it is over 100MB). I have already gotten a replacement for 1 unit that had this problem, and the second one I received has the exact same problem. I called Motorola customer service, and they were no help at all. All they would do is offer a warranty replacement with no assurances the replacement would be better! They deny having an issue with their power button, but I am now two for two! I'll acknowledge, it is probably the best baby monitor I've ever heard in regards to no interference, great sound quality, etc - but in order to power it off and back on, I'd have to remove and reinstall the rechargeable battery - too much trouble for me! I was thinking of replacing with the MBP20, but it has the same exact switch and I'll assume that would be problematic as well. Unfortunately, I'll be looking for another brand. By the way, if you buy one, be sure to keep your packaging until you know it functions okay for you so you culd return it if need be. Final note: Amazon, as always, was terrific in it's customer service and return assistance...

This monitor worked fine for about 5 months and then one day refused to connect to the base unit for no apparent reason. No amount of tinkering, swearing, or pleading could get it to connect again. Returning it for a refund was essentially impossible as it had been a gift off of our registry. 1 star.

The sound is actually very good and there is no interference with any wifi, but there are a couple major flaws. The Power buttons don't always work or you have to find the exact perfect spot to turn it on/off. The biggest issues is that it unlinks/relinks from the base unit often, and the 2 units are all of 20-25 feet apart. This can happen 2-3 times per night and it's a fairly loud beeping, so when you should be getting that rare sleep, the baby monitor is waking us up. It's too bad b/c otherwise it's a nice unit and we would have overlooked the power button issue. We will be returning and purchasing a different monitor, most likely one with video now that our baby is moving around a lot. We are between the summer model and the motorola. Given the issues we've been having with this motorola unit, we will likely try the summer video monitor.
