1.0 out of 5 stars A fake, not a genuine Motorola
This item is not a genuine Motorola H700 headset; it is a China-made ripoff of the same. This item is not a genuine Motorola H700 headset; it is a China-made ripoff of the same. There are tons of these clone products sold on the Internet today, for everything from cell phones (e.g. Nokia N95 clones, iPhone clones, etc..). Sometimes the clone makers bother to change the name of their company slightly from the original -- e.g. "Motonola", "NOKlA" (where the second last letter is a lowercase "L", not an upperase "I", and so on); in other cases, they release products named such things as "Motorola H700" (where the "Motorola" is part of the product name.

In this case, the clone performs much worse than the original. The authentic H700 headet by U.S. equipment maker Motorola has exceptional voice quality and durability.

I am a bit disappointed that Amazon condones this practice by selling such products (even as an intermediary), but you need to be very careful when reading the product description. There is no such thing as "Bulk Packaged" or "OEM" labelled products made by the US Motorola that we all know and... well.. know.

FWIW, here and here is the real H700.

This review is from: Motorola H-700 Bluetooth Headset - Blue and Silver (OEM) - (Comparable to Motorola H700 Series) (Electronics)
Product appears to be good. Charger stop working after initial charge. The Seller email they would send a new charger. Just didn't say in what YEAR. I like the product but thanks to the Seller it comes without a functioning charger. Amazon how often do you review your Sellers?

3.0 out of 5 stars first time bluetoother, April 2, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is the first bluetooth I've ever owned. I was hesitant because I wear glasses and thought that it would bother me around the ears. The H-700 doesn't do that. It is light, comfortable and easy to use. It is color coded so to speak to let you know when it needs charging (red), is almost charged (yellow) is charged (green) when it's in use (blue) and when pairing (purple). It is very small which means it fits into pockets easily and is clear most of the time. I gave it three stars because sometimes it isn't clear. I'm not sure why this is but it can pick up static and just as quickly the static will disappear. The other reason was that while the mic boom is retractable, it sticks out on your cheek when retracted and ends up being too uncomfortable (think bug on your face.) I end up leaving it open so I don't really get much battery saved. When I do decide to leave it closed it takes a while to link to my phone... like 8 seconds so that I have to open my phone answer there and talk THEN the bluetooth starts. All in all probably worth the money but I'm sure a better product is out there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Short-Term life yields unfavorable opinion, January 19, 2008
I was thrilled with the purchase of the H-700 Motorola, for only $35
thru Amazon. Ther Headset worked great for a month, however then sound quality deteriorated so badly I cannot use at this time. So how do you troubleshoot a 3 button gadget?
I guess buy a different one. Shame as this was very highly rated by Consumer Reports, which was why I purchased

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd time around made me a believer!, November 9, 2007

(REAL NAME)
I initially purchased the H700 from a popular online retailer who's claim to fame is the Hot Sheet. Prior to purchasing, I called the retailer to confirm that the product was being sold as new being it was being sold for much less than any other retailer. (Ever seen the word being used so much in a sentence) I did receive it in just a few days in OEM packaging, which wasn't a surprise. However, the unit only worked well for about a week and then it completely crapped out. I called Motorola's support and a soft speaking and courteous gal answered the phone. She took some info and had a replacement set to ship. After a week, I had not received the replacement so I gave them a call back and apparently, the gal made a error on the shipping address. So the fellow who answered this time shipped the replacement out 2 day air. I am now in the possession of the replacement unit and it's working great. People think I am on a corded phone and that is saying a lot for any bluetooth headset. The reason why I gave this unit 5 starts is because Motorola customer service was fantastic. There were no hassles and they were very polite. I would only caution you to buy a new unit as refurbs only carry a 90 day warranty.
