Motorola H605 Bluetooth Headset

This is my first bluetooth headset, so I did my research for a while to find one that seemed to work well without breaking the bank. I love this device because it doesn't make you look like a cyborg with a giant ugly thing hanging off your ear. I have average size ears, and the device is really comfortable...I sometimes forget I'm wearing it! As for performance, I have a RAZR with T-Mobile (GSM) and it works perfectly. I spoke to my grandmother for an hour on the day I got it, and not once did she complain about the sound quality. Her only complaint is that, "it sounds like I'm on a headset," which is the same complaint she gave when I used the wired headset that came with the phone. I suppose that the only solution to this would be to have a microphone that sat directly in front of your mouth. Otherwise, I am completely satisfied with this purchase, and would recommend it to anyone not looking to drop loads of cash for a decent device, elegant device.

So I needed a replacement for my trusty Jabra 250 that had excellent incoming and outgoing sound quality as long as there was no wind. So my wife spills a soda all over it and its shot. I look around for a replacement and thru numerous reviews I come up with the Motorola H605 which looks good and is a Motorola.
When I get it and try it on, it fits excellent and the sound quality incoming is great. Then I make a call...

My wife complained that she couldnt hear a word I was saying, as everything was really muffled. I was in the vehicle at the time so I left myself a voicemail to confirm this. Its was bad, I couldnt make out half the words I spoke. My car is fairly quite (Audi A6) and the background noise sounded like I had all the windows open. I really wanted to like this thing, but its just not functional. I read about people contacting Moto tech-support and they claim this was designed for GMS phones and not CDMA phones. Bluetooth 1.1 or 1.2 is bluetooth. Shouldnt matter. I even went to motorola website to see the specs on this headset and they specifically list this compatible with ALL Bluetooth devices.
I never save the packaging so this is going in a box with all the other devices I bought and don't work.

I bought this unit because of the classy form factor. A behind-the-ear unit is much better (in my opinion) looking than the floppy, obnoxious over-the-ear units.

I used to have the Moto HS810 and lost it somewhere. It was a great headset, everyone could hear me, and it had great battery life... but it was an ugly little bugger.

This H605 is gorgeous and I can hear everyone who calls with extreme clarity. Unfortunately, no one can hear me (that seems to be the overriding theme in these reviews). I tried and tried to make this work, but everyone I talk to complains that I am impossible to hear. There is either too much background noise or my voice sounds too distorted to understand. My wife refuses to talk to me when I call her using this headset.

So, with much sadness, I am sending it back. Looks like I'll be back to the ugly HS810 or HS850 until someone can invent a decent behind-the-ear headset.

I believe this to be the first posted review of the Motorola H605 bluetooth headset and so I'll try to cover all bases.

The headset comes with an AC adapter with a mini-USB connector. The headset takes 2 hours to reach a full charge and can be charged using a standard mini-USB cable, the included AC adapter or car charger with a mini-USB connector (like my Razr!!!!!)

The fit of this headset is amazing. It is extremely light and fits very snug behind the ear. Takes a little getting used to when putting it on but once its on...it stays on. I believe you could do somersaults with this headset on and it wouldn't move from its position. If you are comparing this headset to the Jabra over-the-ear style, you will notice that there is absolutely no give in the headset itself. It is solid. So you have to pull your ear into it as opposed to stretching the headset itself to fit your ear. Very comfortable fit.

OK...now as to sound quality. I have been reading this board for the past 2 months, review after review and have actually been very disappointed by what I have heard about bluetooth headsets. Static appears to be a recurring issue, as well poor range.

All I can say is that the H605, paired with a Motorola Razr v3, provides excellent sound quality, both incoming and outgoing. I have the phone in a leather Monaco pouch which sits on my left hand side, while the headset sits on my right ear. A combination which appears to result in static as reported by many reviewers of other headsets. I have absolutely no static issues with the H605 to report in this configuration.

In addition, I had the H605 connected to my PC using a Belkin Bluetooth dongle. I had to walk away from the computer a distance of more than 30 feet before I noticed any static on the headset. I suspect that the range may be even greater although this may be due to the dongle itself as opposed to the headset.

If you like the behind-the-ear design, I would definitely look out for this unit.

I've had the unit for one day and will update this post if any new issues arise.

Got this to try along side a mot H700 (another disappointment). The comfort level is VERY good on this unit. VERY easy to pair and operate and very good incoming sound. Ougoing is another matter. What good is it for you to hear and others to not hear you? This seems to be the way Motorola works.
I called Motorola tech support and was told "I don't have that unit as they don't make a 605". When I read the pkg. the "tech?" told me well just return it. We don't make these units to work with CDMA (read I have a Motoroal E815 on Verizon) but for GSM.
So I don't know what I will do at this point. BTW the outgoing voice on this is so bad that in even a VERY quiet car with no windows open and no radio on you are rendered unintelligible. I only gave it 2 stars because of incoming quality and comfort. Otherwise for performance and support I'd have to say -2

I used it for about 7 months. It was just acceptable but the worst is the sound quality. Not good at all in noisy or windy environments. It is comfortable and very easy to use. Very good distance range from my cell. I am changing it due to complaints from people who could not hear or understand me while using it.

Just returned the Moto headsetH700. It was constantly loosing communication with my Razr V3.#@!%$@! It also felt like it was going to fall off and I looked like an idiot with it on. I know you might be thinking,"this guy probably looks like an idiot anyway", but thats a matter of opinion. I took a chance with the H605 because the reviews are mixed. Most complaints are on the receiving end of the person you are calling.
So far it is great!! Sound is clear to the receiver outside and in. So comforatable and communication with Razr is perfect and steady with no diconnections!!. I was told it works best with the Razr and maybe that is the reason it gets and excellent rating from this satisfied user!!! Robert

This bluetooth headset is comfortable and easy to use. It connected without any issue to my Motorola RAZR V3m and did not drop any calls. The earpiece provides good sound quality and I had no trouble hearing. HOWEVER -- during every call that I made or received, the person on the other end said I sounded like I was talking through a "tin can tunnel". I was also constantly plagued by static ... no matter how close I was to my phone ... even on my desk, right in front of me, with only 18" between phone and headset. I returned it to Amazon and have ordered the Jabra BT250, since it was rated highly rated by Consumer Reports -- not to mention that the overall rating on Amazon is 4.5 stars (the Motorola H605 is only rated as 2.5 stars). I'll be paying much closer attention to the "star ratings" in the future.

If anybody could hear me with it - I would love it. Unfortunately, they can't. I have tried this with my Verizon CDMA Razr and Cingular Blackberry 7290 - the Razr provides slightly better performance, but still not usable.

The headset wears great, pairs nicely with the devices and I can hear fine. But the people I have called can not hear me at all in my car and barely hear me when I call from a quiet room. It is going straight back.

This is my first bluetooth headset.... If you wear glasses it really sucks. In the wind you might as well not use it. I called my own voicemail to leave my self a message and the sound quality was horrible!!!
