Cracked after 5 weeks,
By Joe (Raleigh, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Motorola Holster for Motorola V710, E815 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I owned this item and under extremely light use the part that clips to the top of the phone cracked off. The item looks rubberized but it is really hard plastic with a rubberized "look" to it. Luckily the reseller gave me my $ back after purchase. Simply put: not a good product.

Typically I like this type of clip holster. There is no sloppy fitting leather cover to get in the way of buttons, camera, ect. or plastic covers to trap dirt. However, those plastic/leather covers protect from scratches and probably buffer small drops a little bit.The last Motorola clip holsters I had for a different phone worked great. This one is another story. First, the clip does NOT ratchet like the description says. This makes it very uncomfortable when sitting...the antenna digs right into my side. Also, the clip does not seem to be very secure. My phone has fallen out of the clip immediately after it seemed to snap into the clip. It has also popped out a couple times when I have bumped things. I am actually considering buying one of those plastic/leather covers instead.

Don't bump into things,

That's good general advice, but it especially applies to this holster.Actually, it's not so much a holster (into which an item slides) as a clip. You put your phone face-out into the holder, push in at the top, and it clicks into place. It doesn't look like it will hold the phone securely, but once you snap it in, it won't release unless you press the release tab at the top. I got one at a Verizon store, clipped it to my belt, snapped in my E815, and loved it. It's minimal, lightweight, and has a pleasant grippy texture. It also rotates, locking into different positions with a solid click. I pointed it horizontally. A half-hour later, I bumped into a doorway (I would normally have cleared the edge, but I was unaccustomed to having a phone sticking out from my hip) -- inadvertently hitting the release tab -- and the phone clattered to the floor. And that was the end of that experiment. If you never bump into things, this is probably a really good phone holder. I know myself better than that, and I'm returning mine to the store.

This is a quality holster. It is lightweight and holds on to the phone well. It even fits with the extended life battery!

design flaw that could cost you your phone,
This review is from: Motorola Holster for Motorola V710, E815 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Seek out a OEM Motorola holster if you want one that really holds your phone securely. These imitations have a design flaw that allows your phone to fall from the holster unintentionally. On these knockoffs, the small notch that snaps into the slot on top of your phone is not long enough to snap in securely. Even the way it sounds when it snaps in tells you it is not secure. The slightest bump or the routine jostling your phone takes while you are sitting or riding in a car can release the phone. Next thing you know, phone gone. The OEM holster does NOT swivel and has the Motorola logo embossed on the clip on back. When you snap our phone into it, it is IN until YOU decide to release it. I wish the OEM ones swiveled but I can live without that.

Discription said OEM but turned out to be a cheap non-OEM product. Fell apart about a week after I got it.

But it has worked just fine, no complaints about it's quality.Previous review 5-5-07; Update 6-11-07 Top part broke off after 5 weeks of use. Just like in some other guy's review. I'll have to look for a different one now.

Gets the job done....,
This review is from: Motorola Holster for Motorola V710, E815 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I read that lots of people are having problems with these type of holsters. Its true that if you drop it on the floor there is a potential for it breaking. With that said, I've dropped this a few times and its been ok. I'm happy with the purchase, I prefer it over the body glove type case I had before.Since it doesn't actually protect your phone from gettting scratched, I wouldn't recommend it if you are concerned from getting your phone scuffed in the event you do drop it or something.

Broken two so far. Bought a 3rd one because it cost $.01, and less than $5.00 including shipping.
