4.0 out of 5 stars Great phone, more features than I can use!
I posted more detailed comments under the grey or black phone, but i have the Fire Red and it's a great color! Easy to see in purse, car or on desk. Yes it's shiny on front side - and I love it! If too many fingerprints - then just wipe it off! Has a "textured" back side, so no sliding around on desk or in car - great feature.

I got this phone as a "New Every Two" deal for free with my service renewal.

Pros: The phone is very sharp looking and has some great features including a 1.3 mp camera (average quality) and an MP3 player. The battery life is much better than my previous LG phone and the signal strength is very good as well. Verizon wireless service has always been very good in the Tampa Bay area and most of my family is on the service, so the IN calling plan saves me money.

Cons: Verizon has disabled the use of the Multimedia Studio in Motorola Phone Tools 4.x so they can persuade you to subscribe to the VCast service and pay for content. You can, however, use VZW's free PixPlace to upload or email content to your phone to avoid having to pay for content. Also, the Verizon interface is loaded when you activate the phone, so those who like the standard Motorola interface will likely be disappointed. The VZW interface also appears to disable the vibe-then-ring feature that so many Motorola phone users enjoy.

I like the phone, but I wish VZW didn't feel the need to kill the features. The reports I've read indicate that other wireless companies do not cripple the phone, so let's hope VZW takes the hint soon.

Overall: Great features (the ones that aren't crippled), great reception, good battery life, and great service with VZW in the Tampa Bay area.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great phone, more features than I can use!, April 4, 2007

I posted more detailed comments under the grey or black phone, but i have the Fire Red and it's a great color! Easy to see in purse, car or on desk. Yes it's shiny on front side - and I love it! If too many fingerprints - then just wipe it off! Has a "textured" back side, so no sliding around on desk or in car - great feature.

Camera is very easy to use, two step process - this is faster and simpler than some I saw a year ago. I think it's fine for a phone camera, but beware it's lower than 2.0MP - a separate digital camera may do your photos more justice!

Have not yet tried to download music, maps, ringtones etc...extra fees and I'm not into that. Plenty of decent ringtones come standard and you can customize rings/alarms to people or events you have marked in your calendar.

Pros - whole item! I like the calendar, ease to set "quick buttons" or shortcuts, Phonebook is pretty easy to use (different steps than older Motorolas, but you figure it out!) You can set the phone to answer when you "flip open" or if you want to press a button....great for clumsy hands!

Another pro is there is slot for extra memory card - you'll have to buy the card separately. A little tough to get in (under battery & rubber thing), but it's a one-time deal, so really not an issue.

Have not yet tried the Bluetooth headset...I have used the adapter that comes with phone to hook up wired headset (from prev. phone) and it works fine.

minor cons - missed/received calls list only holds 8 (old motorola's held 10 calls)...and it does not fit in my other "standard" cell phone cases I already own from 2 other phones. This phone is thinner, but taller, so you might want to grab a new case.

Note phone comes with only 2 accessories - an adapter for wired ear-buds and the charger for house (110v) outlet only...you'll have to buy separately a car charger, bluetooth headset, case, longer life battery, etc....

This is a great quality item (I am a Motorola fan, except for the(RAZR)) and am pleased with reception / sound and it's overall performance. I would definitely buy again / suggest to friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice phone, March 21, 2007
This review is from: Motorola KRZR K1m Red Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I have nothing negative to say about the phone. I really like my KRZR. It is just the right size, not too big or too little, good reception, quick to connect, easy to text. The battery stayed charged for over a week while I was out of town, something my phone before this would never have done. I am not experienced in all the whistles & bells that phones have now, but have been able to download ring tones & ringback tones very easily. The camera is very easy to use. For users who have compromised vision, the krzr will be helpful.

1.0 out of 5 stars pretty, but not worth it, August 26, 2007
This review is from: Motorola KRZR K1m Red Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I bought this phone 5 months ago because it was pretty, small and had decent reviews.... well it was a big mistake!

The phone is pretty, but it needs a protective covering because the sleek shiny finish scratches easily and the cover makes it bulky.

The battery life is unpredictable. Sometimes it will last 12 hours with 2-3 hours worth of conversation. Sometimes it won't even last 6 hours just resting.

The phone is slow to bring up functions like messaging or pictures. It often freezes and needs to be reset.
(On a positive note the camera takes really nice photos)

The predictive text function is a joke.

I have used Nokia and LG phones in the past and have been way more satisfied. Longer battery life, better and faster phone functions, and more durable phone.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it but..., September 10, 2007

After months of research for my new-every-two upgrade, this is the phone I decided to get, mainly because of its battery life and the overall attractiveness of the phone. All I do is talk on the phone and use it for picture/text messaging, so all the other features (and there are many) this phone comes with I cannot really comment on. But here was my experience so far, and I've owned this phone for six days so far.

The first phone I ordered from Verizon via telephone, and they shipped it to me. It took 5 calendar days. That first phone had this very annoying, high pitched buzzing sound it made any time I made a call, almost like feedback. I thought after a day or two it might go away, but it did not, so I took it to my local Verizon store and they exchanged it for me, no problems. The second Krazr had a problem with the software; it would not play the assigned ringtones to individual contacts, it just played the default ringtone all the time. Back to the Verizon store I went, and about 30 minutes later the tech person there was able to fix it simply by re-installing the software.

Now, I think I finally have a quality phone that does what it is supposed to do and sounds like it is supposed to sound. But, it took me almost a week to get to this point with several trips back and forth to the Verizon store.

I will say that Verizon was more than cooperative and helpful in this situation. I'm not sure if Motorola is at fault here because I've never owned a Motorola phone, but this phone certainly is not without it's technical glitches I suppose. I hope I don't have to deal with any other inconveniences with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Crzr, August 30, 2007
This review is from: Motorola KRZR K1m Red Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I have this phone and I love it but I has a few problems. When I talk on it, the keypad heats up and gets really hot. The pictures it takes are not that good and sometimes the battery will go in 12 hours, other times it will stay on for 2 days.

Besides that, I've dropped it a few times and their is not a scratch. It is eady to text and call people. It can hold lots of music and it plays it really clearly. When I make calls and use speaker phone, it sounds clear and the other person can hear me well. I really like it and, if you are looking for a nice, good looking phone, I would get this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, February 1, 2008
This review is from: Motorola KRZR K1m Red Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I bought this phone from Verizon Wireless almost a year ago. I loved the size of it, but was quickly disappointed in its reliability. I had the phone less than two months before I deployed so I didn't get a lot of use out of it initially. I've been back five months and this phone is awful. I can not hear people half the time. I will either hear the background noises or dead silence but not the person talking. The call hasn't dropped, I just won't hear several seconds of conversation. Also the battery depletes very quickly. It doesn't matter if I don't use the phone at all one day or use it all day long. I have to charge it every day. If I don't the battery will be completely drained (and it's not constantly searching for service - I have several bars showing all the time). I have taken it in to get an update in software and that helped for a week. Verizon has given me the option of getting a refurbished phone (exact model) for free since it's still under warranty or wait until I've had it a year and get a new one at the price listed with a two year plan. I've only got a couple months left so I'm planning to wait out the time so I don't have to pay full retail price on a new phone. I never loaded songs on it so I don't know how good it is as an mp3 player. I wouldn't waste money on this phone. You will be very disappointed.

***Update 14 Mar 09*** I had a couple instances in March 2008 where after taking the phone off the charger, I talked to LESS THAN 10 MINUTES and the battery completely died. One time it was 7 minutes of talk time. I was able to get a new phone a week earlier than my contract normally allowed. I got an LG (http://www.amazon.com/LG-VX8350-Phone-Verizon-Wireless/dp/B0017O6GRO/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1237027764&sr=1-26). It's not fancy, but it's a good phone, it's reliable, and has none of the issues I had with the KRZR. I've been able to go up to a week without charging and hear everything the other person says. I have always had LG cell phones with the one exception (the KRZR). I will stick with LG.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone -- Pretty, Compact, and Light, December 10, 2007

I love this phone. It's pretty, compact, light, and functional. It's Bluetooth compatible and the camera works great. I get a lot of compliments on it for its looks.

My only complaint would be that the screen size is small. That's probably not a problem for teenagers, but the over 40 crowd might want something a little easier to see!

4.0 out of 5 stars Love Hate, May 4, 2007
This review is from: Motorola KRZR K1m Red Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
Pros:
Design
Size
color

Cons:
Finger prints are very visible. IF you like your phone clean and somewhat finger print free go with either black or white.
Can't transfer anything from my computer to the phone.
You can only do that with VZW Vcast, which will cost you money.
Ringtones that comes with the phone.
Phone is very sleek up to date design but the ringtones that comes with are very old tones. Which means you gotta spend money on the ringtones.

3.0 out of 5 stars low quality, April 5, 2008

This review is from: Motorola KRZR K1m Red Phone (Verizon Wireless) (Wireless Phone)
I've had my phone for about 9 months now, and am going to get a new one. While not a *terrible* phone (i.e., it WORKS), there's a lot of little annoying things about it. 1. text messaging is difficult -- you have to go through about 4-5 screens before you can start entering text, and it's a pain to switch to symbols or caps etc. 2. battery life is short -- after 9 months, my battery can barely hold a charge. 3. the center button on mine started playing a fun trick on me the other day -- where it's literally sliding around when I press it. Turns out the button is only held on by some gooey gel. Thus my getting a new phone. 4. while pretty, the "metallic" casing gets dirty FAST.
That being said, it's worked fine, I can hear my calls fine, camera is what you would expect for a cell phone...
I think I'm just not crazy about how motorola designs their phones. i've had several samsungs and loved them all -- guess what i'll be buying this next time?
