Need to trim down? The Motorola L6 is the answer. This stylish, quad-band world phone has more than just great looks, with features like Bluetooth, mobile email, a speakerphone, voice dialing, a camera, and more. Now you can have a skinny phone that's big on the features that make your life easier.

This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.

Nicely thin, the SLVR L6 measures just 0.41 inches thin (11.5mm).
Design
At less than a half-inch thick, the L6 features a large 128 x 160-pixel color display with 65,000 colors that resides above the handset's backlit control pad. Most of the phone's menus and features are controlled by a circular control pad just above the numeric keypad. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side, and there's also a highly accessible mini-USB port on the right side of the phone for data synchronization. The VGA camera unit is placed on the back of the phone.

Calling Features
The L6's internal phone book can hold up to 500 contacts. The phone also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3-based ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. It's compatible with polyphonic ringtones, and there's a vibrating alert for times when you want to be discreet. Picture and ringer ID functions let you assign photos or ringtones to incoming callers, while a voice dialing feature lets you call your contacts by speaking to the phone. Plus, a built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear.

Because the L6 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total hands-free operation.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The L6 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, and sound via messages. Instant messaging is supported via AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, and ICQ, and the phone also ships with a built-in email client. Plus, there's a wireless Web browser for mobile web browsing. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the L6, including a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. Use the phone's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth accessory or connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data.

Imaging and Entertainment
The L6's built-in camera is ready to take 640 x 480 pictures whenever you need to--so you're always ready to capture life's unexpected moments. You can even capture 15-second videos with the camera. The phone also supports custom graphics for wallpapers so you can dress it up to suit your mood.

Vital Statistics
The Motorola L6 weighs 2.82 ounces and measures 4.33 x 1.93 x 0.41 inches (113.5mm x 49mm x 11.5mm). Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5.8 hours of digital talk time, and up to 380 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent fashion statement, July 9, 2006

This phone is so hip -- I can go out at night and not bring a purse because this slips easily in a back pocket and doesn't give you that tell-tale lump. The phone is comparable to the Razr, which I've had before, and is slimmer than the Razr and slightly thinner than the L7 (more advanced model). I own a mac, so I linked the phone up via Bluetooth, and dropped in a few mp3's into the phone's "sounds" folder, as well as some pictures for wallpaper, etc. It worked like magic!

It is hard to hold the phone in the crook of your neck for hands-free talking old-school style, as it muffles the voice and your caller can't hear what you're saying. It's also so thin it's hard to hold it even in place that way! The camera and video recorder are mildly good, VGA so no megapixels and the like. But I don't know about you, I just don't use the camera that much. I usually bring along my very slim Nikon S1 when I actually want to take pictures, so the camera is pointless to me. But it's nice to have just in case, and it works very well for sending goofy picture messages!

The phone comes standard with some pretty rockin ringtones already, MUCH better than the Razr's. I'm told this is software-dependent (phones have software?? firmware?) so it may vary, but I was impressed with my phone's selection.

All in all, a great buy, and at so slim and pink, it's a girl's best fashion accessory.

This review is from: Motorola SLVR L6 Unlocked Phone with Quad-Band GSM, Camera, Speakerphone, MP3, Video Player and Bluetooth--International Version with No Warranty (Pink) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Nice styling, not TOO pink as it appears in the photos. Signal quality is better than my bberry bold, better than my wife's sony-ericcson z555. Speaker quality is excellent. If you read it sounds tinny, they just didn't dampen the speaker. Try putting a pad of paper or a cloth under the phone and the tinniness goes away. Overall very pleased.
