Great Smartphone,
By
This review is from: Motorola Q9c Phone (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I've had my new Motorola Q9c from Sprint for a week now and I have to say that I am in love with this smartphone.
This is my first smartphone and my first time having service with Sprint and so far I've been impressed on both accounts. Pros: Great full QWERTY keyboard Fast EV-DO speeds Full internet browsing Awesome e-mail and messaging support Exceptional battery life Beautiful screen Sprint TV Great call quality Fully functional GPS (great with Google Maps) Cons: Not enough memory Slight lag at times switching between applications Thumbwheel implementation could be better I live in an area (RTP in NC) with excellent EVDO coverage by Sprint so a lack of built in Wi-Fi is not an issue for me like it might be for others so I do not include that as a con. Thanks to the included extended battery I have had exceptional battery life never once running lower than half a charge a day. And that is including considerable amounts of internet browsing, liberal use of Sprint TV, and having my e-mail set to download every 10 minutes. While some may argue that the extended battery adds to the bulk of the device it's great for someone like me with rather large hands. The phone seems to just balance better than the original Q that a friend has at work. The weight of the device is not an issue as it feels lighter than the MOTO KRZR K1m that this phone is replacing. I purchased this phone primarily for it's internet capabilities and rarely use it as a true phone. When I do use it to make calls though the voice quality is great. Unless I mention I'm talking on a cell phone no one knows the difference between the Q9c and a land line. Overall this is a great first smartphone for those new to this category of device. [Added 11/5/2008] I've now had my Q9c for eight months and have done the Windows Mobile 6.1 update and I still like this phone very much. It's held up fairly well to eight months of wear and tear and my only real complaint is that dust does collect between the lens cover and the LCD screen but that was an easy, five minute fix at a local Sprint store. The 6.1 update has made the already good features of the phone great and I still highly recommend this phone to anyone looking for a good beginner smartphone!

Best smartphone on the market today,

First of all let me just tell you that if you have bad or No credit you will have to put down a deposit of something like $50.00 before the order will go through. This is the case here on Amazon and the Sprint website. That being said, this is one outstanding device. With the Moto Q9c you can Watch videos,Listen to Music,Play games,Create and edit word documents,Browse the FULL internet at High speed,Download items right from the web browser,Listen to streaming Radio just as you would on your PC,Get live directions using the GPS feature,Take Pictures and Record Videos(and the videos can be over 30 Minutes in length depending on how much room you have on your Mini SD card). This smartphone can do it ALL!No longer do you have to carry around a Laptop,Cell phone and Mp3 player because this device is all of these things and a lot more.Aside from all the great features the Q9c has, what makes it even better is the Sprint everything plan. There are a few different versions of this plan and you get to choose which one is best for you.I chose the Everything 450 plan which includes 450 anytime Minutes,Unlimited Nights and Weekends,Unlimited Texting,Email,Internet,GPS and sprint TV.This plan costs $69.99 a month. If you REALLY like to talk a lot you can get the $99 Everything Plan which includes all the things i have listed above but also gives you Unlimited talk time. The other nice thing i like about the Q9c is that it has a solid feel to it.This phone fits nicely in the hand and you can hold it for hours on end without your hand cramping up.There isn't one bad thing i can say about this device.Buy it and enjoy.:)
Update:After using this phone for a while i still think it is amazing BUT i do have to say that Windows media player is garbage. It wont play live Mp3 Streams so if you try to listen to an online radio stream and it's in Mp3 format you get an error message. If you want to get the most out of this phone you should ditch Windows media player and just buy a program called CORE PLAYER for windows mobile. It will let you listen to ALL the live radio streams including those in Mp3 format and also play all your other media like Mp3's,Videos and pictures. The sound quality of Core Player is also MUCH better than Windows media player.Just download Core player,go to the settings in the program and check all the boxes of the media you want it to play.Whatever file types you checked will make Core Player the default player for that format.Just check ALL the boxes so Core Player will open all your Streams,Mp3's,Pics and Videos.Trust me,you will be better off with this thing instead of Windows Media.;)

After doing a lot of researches, i picked this phone with Sprint.I have it for more than 2 weeks. Here are my 2 cents.
pros: - Styling is better than blackberry pearl or samsung blackjack. The form factor is above average for smart phone. I can put it in a sideway pouch and wear it comfortably. - Battery life is superb thanks to 1800 mh extended battery. I just need charge it every other day after heavy data and voice usage. - keyboard layout is good for big thumbs. - voice quality is excellent from both sides. - mini SDHC slot can hold up to 32GB (according to manual), which leaves a lot of room for software upgrade or music storage. - mp3 (no more than 1 minute) can be used as ringtone and can be put on storage card. - GPS is a big plus. Not many smart phone has this feature, even Iphone doesn't have it. Install google mobile map then it is good to go. cons: - Windows mobile 6 standard interface is slightly more awkward than touch screen windows mobile 6 professional. - it froze once. but i think it is Microsoft's fault not the device. - the usable system RAM for running applications is less than 20 mb, so i have to frequently kill some applications to free up RAM. again, it is windows mobile that eats too much RAM. - camera is claimed to have 1 mega pixel but the photo quality looks like VGA, very grainy. It is my first smart phone and I like it. Motorola has done a great job upgrading its first generation Q.

The Morotola q9c is great for communication. With the Sprint network, I get better phone reception than anyone I know. When I am driving, I find it convenient to use the voice recogonition, rather than scroll through all my contacts (I know, it's not safe to use a phone while you drive either way). I don't have frail woman hands (despite the fact I am a woman) so the large keyboard is great. I find it's easy to type fast without accidentally hitting five buttons on such a keyboard.I love the windows mobile, although I experianced some troubles getting music I had put on it to play playlists.
Problems I have had with the Q9c are limited. The Q9c is definantly not a phone for clumsy people. If not protected, the screen is easily scratched and the whole phone is very prone to smudges, finger prints, dust collection, ect. Apparently the Spint stores (even when first purchased) don't carry products for the phone and such must be bought special. Even with the extended battery, the constant usage of my phone tends to kill it off. I have to be careful about my phone usage, as to not drain the battery before the end of the day. The phones camera has a nice flash. I don't use the camera too often, but when I do it proves to be convenient enough, no trouble finding how to use it ect. As for storage, I have a storage card and all of my pictures, ect are immediatly transferred to that. Oh, another benifit is that the warrenty I have has been honored well. I had some sort of malfunction with the screen and I took it in to a local store and the problem was solved with in the day. When I first got the phone, I had a problem with the backlight and they completly replaced the phone. I love the service.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you order through amazon someone assigns you whatever security question and pin number they want- then doesnt allow you to access your account.
You will prob have one difficult time any time you need to call customer service. No thanks to Brad in Sprint escalations in AZ who accused me of being a hacker. Thank you Adam for sending my pin number to my phone to read back to me! Giving sprint 3 stars for better phone call quality in hill-y Los Angeles than AT&T had. This phone has been better than my AT&T phone on calls.

I've owned 3 of these phones. It's a great phone. One of the best on the market in my opinion. But, it will freeze up. Mine has twice. It's been covered twice with my warrenty, but it's annoying losing my contacts. But, the phone is great when it works.
