Problems from the beginning,

I had some old cheap Jensen bluetooth headphones that worked great (I am not a Jensen fan. Had issues with regular headphones from them.) Unfortunately my Jensens broke in a recent move so these looked like a good affordable substitute.Initially they seemed to be a great solution. Unfortunately that was short lived. While listening to music they would suddenly begin to regularly beep without reason over the music. This was annoying and would happen more and more regularly. I would turn them off and start over. After days of this (yes I put up with it for days) I learned that if I pressed the on of button for a second or two that the beeping would go away with out a reboot. Still annoying but I could get by. About 1 to 2 weeks later on a business trip, the headphones figured it was a good time to be problematic in a whole new way. (I talk about them as an entity because they seemed possessed.) Now when the beeping started, the volume would increase as if the increase button was stuck, even though I had never touched it because the initial volume was always fine for me. Again, pushing the on button seemed to stop the beeping and then I could lower the volume. Not to be deterred the headphones went for the jugular. One morning the headphones beeped and the volume disappeared. No matter how many times it was recharged, paired, turned on and off, they never produced sound. That was the final straw. Since I was passing a Best Buy (who sells them), I had them look at it. They could not solve the issue. However, they did have the model up. The MotoROKR S9-HD for $99.00 (ouch). I still had 6 days on my trip. I figured I buy them and keep the receipt and return them if they act up. They have worked perfectly for 2-3 weeks now and sound better the these S9s. Perhaps someone has had better luck with the S9 version, but I say spend the extra and get the S9-HD version. I had nothing but issues with my S9 purchase for the entire time that I have had them. They started to work again, but it is too late. I'm looking into getting my money back.

If you have an MP3 capable phone w/Bluetooth and use it to listen to music you have to get one of these S9s. I have an iPhone 3G and use it all the time to listen to music.Concerning the last review here - I have turned about 8 people on to these (iPhone and Blackberry owners)and unlike the previous reviewer none have had any problems. All have paid less than $50 including shipping. The manual states that the first charge is for 2 hours not overnight. Manual also states that a purple light is "on call muted". When in doubt "Read the MANUAL! The manual is very detailed but not complicated. From just sitting back relaxing to cruising on my Harley, cutting the grass, etc..... I was always getting the headphone wires caught on something and to really enjoy my iPhone during physical activities was ridiculous. That is no longer a problem! The S9 works Great! The only thing I would change is the max volume, they're as loud as regular wired headphones but when riding I want a little more volume, above 40MPH you start to lose the music to road & wind sounds, but they're not coming off. I bought an "Altec Lansing" version before I found these and they were nice but much more bulky and couldn't wear them on the bike. These fit great and stay on up past 80 mph. All the bells and whistles, great as a hands free phone as well. My I Phone will pause the music on an inbound call and ring in your left ear, just hit a button on the headset and you're taking the call. These only have sound in the left ear when on the phone but sound great from both ends. All controls are at the ear pieces and are easy to use. Small and light weight they truly allow me to be JAMMIN NO STRINGS!

I've owned the previous Motorola bluetooth headphones (HT820) for several years. Was very happy with them, they did everything I expected them to from day one, never a problem. As they were a few years old, the battery life was getting bad and I normally like earbuds anyhow, so I figured I'd replace them with these. The buttons on the headphones for volume control and playlist control are semi-touchpad buttons. They require a very light touch and have no tactile feedback. Must be new, as Motorola doesn't seem to have mastered them yet. Got my first pair (not from Amazon, but from a different "reputable online retailer," so they weren't knockoffs), the buttons for volume control didn't actually work, and button to lower volume was stuck depressed, so the most i could get out of my headphones was the first few seconds of a song as it faded into nothingness. Not really a useful result. So I sent them back. Next pair. They would not pair with my phone at first, finally got it to pair but buttons on the headset (other than the volume) would not control phone -- track skip or answering incoming calls had to be done from phone. Buttons made beeping noises, but nothing happened. Contacted Motorola support, no help, tried to blame my phone (LG Chocolate 3). My phone works fine with my previous Motorola headphones, so I don't think so (they are both a2dp headphones, btw). Third pair (keep in mind, I'm paying for shipping each time, as the online retailer didn't cover it and neither does Motorola's sorry excuse for a warranty). Finally pairs with phone, buttons finally work, but now sound is way too quiet. Can barely hear music at max volume when riding a bike (my primary use of these headphones). Gave up on trying to find a decent pair, took the final pair to work where there's no background noise. I still use my old headphones when I'm riding my bike, so these were a complete waste of money. My recommendation -- if you want a pair of bluetooth headphones, buy the older HT820's.

These Bluetooth stereo headphones sound like a great idea, but using them I can't find one good thing to say about them. The sound quality isn't very good, they sound worse than any wired earbuds I've used. The connectivity isn't very good, I've tried them on 3 different smartphones to listen to MP3s and all of them had problems with the signal dropping out. And last, they are very uncomfortable. They never felt like they fit my ears and the bump behind my neck was uncomfortable whenever I sat down. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone, I'd recommend a good set of wired headsets or a simple mono bluetooth that fits in one ear, the sound wouldn't be any better but the single in the ear bluetooth is much more comfortable.

I have an iPhone 3G and bought this wireless bluetooth headset based on the Motorola brand and initial reviews. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in its performance and had to return it for a refund. The controls are relatively clumsy and don't work very well. When it worked, it was just OK. However, when it didn't work it was downright frustrating. After only a day of use, the volume control no longer worked. Maybe the next generation will be better.

I purchased this based upon recommendations from a few friends that had great experiences with the headphones. I however ended up returning the product three times for three different problems. I can't recommend these with the "Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging" but my friends had no problem with retail package versions.

When they arrived the headset linked up easily enough to my iphone 3GS but the left speaker did not work at all.. not for phone calls, videos or music. And once I had a chance to try them on they were not all that comfortable and I will not be getting a replacement pair.

I brought these some time back. A fairly pricey item, while very lightweight. Made of unforgiving abs or similar frangible plastic. the rubber boot ear pieces came off several times and could be lost.I eventually broke one of the earpieces in an attempt to make them fit better.they where so tight on my small men's head. I threw them out.

I was hoping these headphones would work, but I had a hard time acquiring and maintaining a connection with my iPod Touch. The signal would inevitably break off after several minutes of listening.

After borrowing a friends for running, I ordered two of these for myself and my wife. They arrived quickly and the Frustration-Free Packaging was great. I immediately plugged both headsets in with their accompanying AC adapters and let them charge overnight. The next morning, neither unit had a light nor would they turn on. I plugged them back in and ensured they had a red charging light, thinking I hadn't fully connected them the night before.Returning from work, I again tried to turn them on and neither headset would power up. (No lights) I moved one to a different outlet, although I knew all of my outlets are working, and the other I plugged into a USB port on my PC. Again, both units charged overnight. This morning, I managed to get the USB charged headset to turn on with a blinking purple light, which I took to indicate it was ready to pair, but couldn't get my iPhone 3G to see it. The iPhone had worked OK with my friend's headset. Finally, I had enough. I created a RMA from Amazon for both. It's too bad as we'd really anticipated using the wireless headsets. I'd seen a LOT of reviews about this and other problems with these headsets, but hoped my experience would be different. I must recommend that anyone looking for Bluetooth headphones skip the S9's. |
