This review is from: Motorola MPx220 Unlocked PDA Phone with MP3/Video Player, SD/MMC--U.S. Version with Warranty (Silver) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I looked at a number of previous reviews on this phone and found them to be only 2 or 3 stars. All those reviews were made in 2004 and early 2005 when the phone was brand new. Since then, Motorola has made significant upgrades. The sound quality and quantity is VERY good. The reception is the best I've seen out of any phone, and Windows Mobile software is simple and a pleasure to use. Some people have expressed concerns about not having a "touch screen." However, getting around the screen, and selecting items on the screen are extremely simple with the joystick. Getting through the menus and selecting desired tasks is easy with Windows Mobile as well. In the past year, Motorola upgraded the firmware/software on the phone and fixed virtually all the concerns that people had previously. I definately recommend this very user-friendly, yet sophisticated phone

This is a great phone in general when you consider all the functionality built into the product. I love the memory card as I use it as a MP3 player. Never had any problems out of the ordinary regarding reception. In addition, you can store a billion contacts add tasks, review your calendar.
However, I have had to reset the phone once (never could figure out the issue) and I have replaced it once and will try again to replace the phone. The problem: the connection for the battery charger or USB data cable is sensitive and loses its connectivity. As indicated, this is the second time this has occured. Since I am past the warranty period (one year), I am unsure how Motorola will treat me. If I have a choice then I will move to a new phone as I am unwilling to risk Motorola not resolving the issue. I personally expect phones to last a long time and this is unacceptable (two phones over 15 months).

This phone offers an excellent range of features for an amazing price. The screen quality, music quality(through Windows media player), and other tools and options are quite good. The camera quality is forgettable, and even though it has a built-in-flash, I dont see any point of using the flash - its not powerful enough even for distances of .5-1 Meter.
I've used only Nokia phones before this, but was able to pick up on the nuances of the menu button and options pretty easily. User interface is pretty slick, and the listing of last used programs on top of screen is good. Sync with outlook for calendar is fantastic and very intuitive. Only crib is that I cannot directly use my MP3 files as ringtones. have to convert them first! A definite Thumbs up!

6 Months ago I would have rated this phone 5, but it has picked up a common problem that tends to affect them after 1-2 years of use. An internal component goes bad within the phone and the only way it will charge is via its USB sync cable. Needless to say this is quite annoying. Other than that it's been a wonderful phone with great features, but the charging problems that develop later kinda suck. I still love the phone...just wish I could charge it somewhere other than my laptop (it won't even charge in a ac to USB or dc to USB charger....it has to be connected to a computer)>

The phone is great, many options. The problem- the phone seems to have a mind of its own. It turns off when it feels like it, freezes constantly etc. The major problem occured when the phone would no longer charge. Luckily I had 2 days left on my warranty. THey were incredibly helpful and a new phone arrived the next day. 5 stars for features, 5 for service 1 for durability.
