Let me start of by telling my little headache with this product. I purchased it as a combo with the motorola bluetooth adapter for ipod only to come to the horrible truth that the transmitter did not worked with my ipod touch 2nd gen. I had high hopes for this headset. I had 2 of the older S9s and eventually gave up trying to get it working and felt cheated by Motorola, but as I needed a new BT headset to use for running I thought I would give the newer S9-HD a try. Well 1 run, and only sweating a bit, not overly heavy, and the buttons do not work properly. This is just another piece of junk from...

Let me start of by telling my little headache with this product. I purchased it as a combo with the motorola bluetooth adapter for ipod only to come to the horrible truth that the transmitter did not worked with my ipod touch 2nd gen. I had to go back and buy the sony TMR-BT8iP (Black) adapter. This definitely fixed the problem for $50 more. Now the good one. I heard from a friend that it was possible to use to head set with my computer to stream music and use any VoIP application like skype. I again started the search in Amazon and found a USB Bluetooth adapter for $5! And guess what? It worked perfectly. I originally purchased this product because I got tired of breaking regular headphones in my ipod like if there where $1 a piece. Problem solved. No more cables tangled in the weights at the gym and an extra gift, a head seat for my VoIP calls. The sound is amazing. And yes like other reviews said they are only one size fits some. I wear a size 7 3/8 hat and these headphones fit perfectly on me. I hope that you find these review helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Motorola S9-HD Very Good, March 21, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had been looking for some kind of wirless stereo headset for my iPod Touch and my Blackberry Curve. I came across the second generation Motorola headset S9-HD (first gen was the S9). I have been impressed with the quality and the ease of use and set up. The buttons on the side are easy to navigate. If you carry our phone and or iPod with you there is rarely any inerruption in sound. However, if you leave your devices and walk around your house there is the technical limits of bluetooth. For iPod Touch I got a sony bluetooth adapter, that is easy to use as well and you can actually have the headset connect to the iPod for music and the phone for calls. If you get a call the headset rings and you can take the call. When finished you can go back to listening to the music. I have not found them to be uncomfortable, it was a matter of finding the best placement on my head. I have a bit of a larger head, but I can wear them for long periods without a problem. The call quality is very good, it isn't like a wired set, but I have been impressed in that I can carry on a conversation and the person I am speaking with on the other end has no problem hearing me. The headset has been better than two other devices I have used, but then again, this headset was more expensive.

Summary - if you are looking for a great bluetooth stereo headset to work with multiple devices (or single device) and good call quality - I would encourage you to buy the Motorola S9-HD.

As an FYI the sony adapter is model TMR-BT8iP

4.0 out of 5 stars Sound awesome. Bluetooth connection touchy., July 22, 2010
This review is from: Motorola Motorokr S9-HD Bluetooth Stereo Headset (Black) [Retail Packaged] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this item so I could listen to Pandora and MP3 files on my HTC EVO 4G while riding my motorcycle. I wanted the ability to easily advance songs and adjust the volume while riding. I also liked the idea of not having a headphone cord to restrict my head movement potentially.

Most of the functions of the headphones are great. It paired right up with my phone. After the initial pairing the headphone mounted controls would only control the phone's media player, but not Pandora. I restarted the headphones and the phone, and this issue was cured. The sound from these headphones is pretty amazing. It puts out a deep rich base, and clear high range. Can easily hear all the lyrics even at highway speeds on my Harley-Davidson (FLHRSI with a windscreen). I love being able to advance songs and adjust the volume.

I have no intention of using the item to communicate on the phone, so I have no review for this function.

I only have 2 complaints with the item:
1. The fit of the ear hooks somewhat interferes with my sunglasses. On the motorcycle I like a tight fit of the glasses around my eyes, and it takes some jockeying to get everything comfortable the first few times.
2. The Bluetooth connectivity is pretty sensitive regarding line of sight. If I have my phone in my breast pocket, the headphones will cut in and out. This is very annoying. If I put my phone in my saddlebag on my bike, there is no cutting in or out. At work I can wear them and get a good distance away, even through walls and have no connection issues. For some reason communication between the devices with human tissue in between seems to cause cutting in and out.

DO NOT BUY if you plan to use for exercise at all it is a poorly designed waste of money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great while it lasted (6 months), May 16, 2009
Overall this is a great product. Bought the package (headphones with Ipod adaptor) to use with my Iphone with the specific intent of using it for my workouts. I got it as a gift for myself in Dec 2008 and the buttons finally stopped working this week. Now all I can do is lower the volume. Anyway, basically the headset is awesome. It was one of the best investments I'd ever made for working out. I was able to move around without the wire, no tangles, good signal, no problems. I workout practically daily. So i'd say that since December the headset has been used daily for about one and a half hours and recharged every night. I tried to use it with my mac but the sounds quality wasn't as good and sometimes I had connectivity issues and could not get the mic to work... it's possible that it works better with the USB adaptor but I just found out about this while reading the reviews. The fit is good, not excellent or bad, just average. A bit difficult if you are doing bench press or laying on your back to do any exercises since they wrap around the back. Oh, and they do a pretty good job of canceling outside noise, at least better than the average headset.

Bottom line is, they are a great buy, but don't expect them to last very long under heave use. If I was in the States I would buy another pair, but working in Algeria makes the whole exchange/warranty/purchasing a bit more difficult so still thinking about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars S9 is better than S10, November 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Motorola Motorokr S9-HD Bluetooth Stereo Headset (Black) [Retail Packaged] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
After reading reviews about the S9 and S10 headsets, i decided to purchase the s9 to see if it actually did sound better and fit more comfortable than S10. It does sound a lot better and is way more comfortable than S10. The S10 hurt my ears from the pressure of how tight they fit from only wearing them an hour or two....The S9 fit snug to where you wont loose them, but comfortable.

I did some Google searching prior to purchase to learn whats the best bluetooth headphones. This set came highly recommended by many reviewers, including PC World. They really are great. I normally cannot use inside-the-ear audio products, but the design of these are excellent in the way the headpiece goes around the back of the head, looping over the ears, before entering the ear canal. They have a springy nature which presses them gently into the ears, while the over-the-ear shape holds them up. They stay firmly yet comfortably in place even while exercising.

Purchased the unit for listening to music while at the gym; cords just had the potential of getting my iphone dropped since I prop it up on stand and read my ebook. Now I do both without the cord. Great, and phone calls at the gym work well too.

4.0 out of 5 stars great product!!, August 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
as other reviews, this is a great item to be use during workout, and any out door activities. it can even be wear out door during light mist. the only problem I have with this unit is the lump at the back of my head, which makes very diffcult to lay your head back while driving (it's not all that bad once you get used to it.) the sound quality is GREAT! this unit has no noise cancling ability. it's a head set first, blue tooth phone device second. :)
