I am returning the mount (Amazon has great customer service); however, I'm suprised that this problem hasn't been reported in other reviews. Maybe mine was just faulty and most of them are fine, but I'm afraid to take a chance of just exchanging it for another one and possibly damaging my phone. I wish it would have worked.
I was able to get the inner sleeve out easier than most had described, this piece of plastic needs to be taken out in order to put a phone with a case into the cradle. I held the unit upside down and put my fingernails into the crack near the power connector. Then just push the inner piece down, it should slide off of the main unit.
I like how the phone knows when it is in the cradle and brings up an easier to navigate while driving menu.
-Quick charger shouldn't have been "strechy", that way I could have routed cord around my steering wheel
-Does not work with my phone's Seidio SURFACE Case, even wiht the spacer piece out
The rapid charger cable plugs into the back of the car mount and the phone connects with a plug mounted inside the cradle. Since this mount gives a glove-like fit to the phone, it won't work if the phone is in a protective case or has a thicker, high-capacity battery installed. However, since the plugged-in car mount supplies power to the phone while it's guiding you to your destination and the car mount provides solid protection for the phone as well, neither of those other two accessories will be necessary until you remove your phone from the mount.
Overall my wife has been pleased with this purchase, which works for her as well as my similar Droid X car mount works for me. She has also been delighted with her Droid 2 phone.
I bought it from Verizon Store at the time of DROID 2 purchase (Extra discount on phone accessories that makes most of the genuine accessories much cheaper than anywhere else).
Anyhow, it is good to know that Motorola seem to redesigned their navigation mount this time around for DROID 2. Now, you can have your phone stably place on your navigation mount while keeping the case on!
I'm not sure if all the DROID 2 navigation dock comes in a package in a way that the "insert" is already tightly inserted onto its main dock. Well, mine did... and I hated it. I wished if I could have the navigation mount that is usable while keeping the case on.
It took me a while to figure this out...
I actually spent a good one month or so without knowing it and did take the case off every time I'm in my car. Yeah...It was a huge drag... (I still loved it's stability though)
Because of the hassle, I came to very close to just abandoning it and getting an universal navigation mount that would fit my DROID 2 while keeping its case on. And then I found out that Motorola DROID 2 A955 Multimedia Docking Station can be used while I keep the case on after removing the insert (please read my review for the product IF interested)...
And I thought, "Hmmm... so if things worked out with the multimedia docking station, shouldn't it work with the navigation mount too??"
So I tried to see if I could remove the insert from the main dock.
It didn't come off easily. This is because the gap between the main dock and the insert is practically none and I didn't want to damage the dock body.Read more ›

Awful mount wouldn't stick to windshield, every bump and it would fall off. Don't waste your moneyPublished 11 months ago by Kayleigh Childs
This does not stick to the windshield no matter how clean and dry it is. Kept falling off, so I trashed it. Sadly a waste of money.Published 17 months ago by Jeep_Girl
