HS830 Helmet Headset,
Bluetooth HS830 Helmet Headset
This is not the HS830 Helmet Headset. All that is shipped is the HS830 Pendant Headset. I contacted eMallGroup and they assured me the photo is correct. This means eMallGroup does not ship the Helmet portion with the boom noise-cancelling microphone. I would love to be able to give a proper review of this device, but since it doesn't not come with the Helmet portion it is useless to me. Thanks for your time.

Description is Misleading,
This is not the HS830 Motorcycle Helmet Bluetooth. The dealer is posting a misleading advertisement. What I bought is not as advertised and the vendor is NOT replying to my emails. I will have to ask Amazon to intervene and recover my money.

Good,
The only problem I have is that when riding and trying to talk the noise from the engine is too loud to talk with the engine off you can hear and talk.

I've had a Raxr V3 for about 6 months. Returned the original Bluetooth (best available at the time) as it contiually fell off me ear. Went back to an ear bud which did not last. Needing a new one I found Bluetooth on a neck rope, very light and the ear bud can't be bounced around too much. Great range and clarity. Hooray!!

Exceeds the performance of any ear-based device currently on the market. The key is the in-line speaker bud and it's proximity to the mouth when the earpiece is inserted into the ear. No other device can match the distortion free clarity of this design. In fact, I feel that it's less obtrusive than the large "look-at-me" cauliflower styles that designer's keep porting to the masses. Yes, I could do without the large blue beacon but still.
UPDATE: The unit died so I purchased another one which also died within a month. I can no longer recommend this product due to the high failure rate. ~ Digital Dude

I have previously used five other Motorola bluetooth headsets. I started with a HS820, while it was quite comfortable to wear, people often had a hard time hearing me with its total lack of a boom microphone. I next used two HS810 units, then two HS850s. The longer boom made them somewhat better for picking up my voice, but the perforated "skirt" that seals the earpiece to the ear has an annoying habit of tearing off, making them uncomfortable and making it much harder to hear the caller's voice. The only reason I can see for the perforation of the "skirt" is to make them fail, a very annoying feature.
The HS830 eliminates this problem, but to maximize voice pickup, the ear bud is best placed in my left ear with the microphone portion of the cord resting upon my chin. The ear bud/ mic cord is a little short for this arrangement. So far it seems far more durable than the "on ear" designs. An ideal design would probably have the LED control from the HS820 (lights up solid when talking), and a long, skinny mic boom that extends all the way to the mouth, for better voice pickup, like some of the Plantronics headsets that are designed for telemarketers. All of these bluetooth headsets could all use higher volume capabilities for the ear speaker. The slightest amount of background noise means holding the headset tightly to the ear to hear better. That takes the "hands free" feature away, annoying while driving.

I love the lanyard and the earpiece (even though it looks kinda dorky w/ the flashing Motorola logo facing out), but (1) my phone (also a motorola) doesn't automatically detect it when it's on [maybe I'm doing something wrong, but if I am there are no instructions as to how to do it right]; (2) my friends often complain that they can't hear me very well when I'm using this bluetooth device .... so I end up not using it very much! Boo hoo

A Big Design Issue,

I bought HS830 last December but was never able to use it since the ear bud was big and silippy which could never stay in my either ear. My husband could wear it but still felt uncomfortable because of its size and stiffness. I contacted Motorola twice who just try to ignore the issue. If you cannot try the ear bud before you purchase it, avoid this product.

I CHOSE THIS DEVICE BECAUSE OF PRICE AND WHAT THE DESCRIPTION SAID IT WAS CAPABLE OF. I EXPECTED MORE FROM MOTOROLA. I THOUGHT I COULD LISTEN TO MUSIC ON IT, BUT I CAN NOT. IT ALSO DROPS CALLS AND CONNECTIVITY FOR NO REASON.
