4.0 out of 5 stars Overall Great Upgrade to Razr - Not without problems though, October 28, 2007
This review is from: Motorola RAZR2 V8 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
First and foremost, this phone is gorgeous! I have the V8 from T-mobile and its the dark blue color which looks amazing. Okay now to the phone itself:

Pros:

1.Design - this phone has touch feedback on the front screen which can be used to change tracks with the built-in 2GB worth of storage! The number keys are a little bigger than in the original Razr which makes it easier to access without looking at the phone.
2. Speed - the operating system of this phone is definitely faster than the original Razr. It has a much cleaner menu system and its much easier to customize it to what you use most.
3. Reception - I had some problems with the original Razr but with this phone I have yet to have a reception issue which in itself was worth the cost of the phone.
4. Battery life - I dont just use this phone to make calls and as a result my battery life would be less than those who do just use it for a phone. However with playing music, making calls, surfing the net I still get about 2 days worth of usage before having to charge...which is definitely a plus over the less than 1.5 days I would get w/ the original Razr JUST making phone calls.

Okay so now to the annoyances:

Cons:
1. Price - This phone, although a great upgrade to the Razr, is a little expensive at $250 direct from T-mobile with a contract/upgrade. I needed an upgrade right away but if you can wait I would say do so because the price will definitely fall through the holidays (or right after)
2. Internet speed - T-mobile does not have 3G (yet) so Edge is all you have when surfing the net, which even compared to dial-up is hard to bear but I try to just use it for checking email and not just for random surfing.
3. Design - Although I listed this as a Pro, there are some issues i have with this phone. It has too many grooves and places where dust and hard-to-reach particles can get in. So I definitely recommend a case for this to protect (especially) the front of the phone, which can easily get smudged with fingerprints because of its reflective nature.

Overal:

A great phone with many improvements over the original Razr and may just be the boost Motorola needed to get back in the game after making so many mistakes with the "In-Between" Razrs. Price and some design issues keep me from making it a 5/5 but definitely deserves 4/5 and even a 4.5! If you were looking for the Razr design but needed major improvements to make this worthwhile, this Razr2 is it! Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good phone!!! but T-Mobile dropped the ball, February 15, 2008
This review is from: Motorola RAZR2 V8 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
To start with let me say that this phone is gorgeous!! so if you like fashionable phones, this is the one for you. The this is that Because it took T-mobile so long to start selling this phone, I would go into Verizon and play around with the V9 version that they sell. I don't know about other people, but I for one thought that the only difference in between the V8 and V9 was that the V8 didn't have a slot for a memory card. Well Now that I bought it, I now know that thats not all it doesn't have. I do not understand why T-mobile has stripped this phone down to the bare essentials I mean what would it have taken for them to allow more operating control from the closed position on the phone just like the V9 versions.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the phone and I'm not one of those guys that really cares about how fast the OS is and I didn't buy this phone to play a lot of music on so that being said I still like the V9 better I just don't like the color of it.
I would have given this phone a perfect 5 if T-mobile hadn't drop the ball and stripped it I mean let's face it the phones not cheap!! My advice is if you are not a T-mobile customer... Stay that way and buy the other versions of this phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Phone! Exceeds expectations!, March 21, 2008
This review is from: Motorola RAZR2 V8 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
This is bigger than the original razr but bigger is definitely better. I am usually not fond of battery life of motorola due to previous experience but this battery life is the best of the last 4 motorola purchases. You can download music, it reads your text messages to you if you choose and the internet is really fast and downloads full pages. No regrets.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best phones for T-Mobile, January 13, 2008
This review is from: Motorola RAZR2 V8 Phone (T-Mobile) (Wireless Phone)
Hi, I was looking for a phone to buy, for a while and this Razr for the price looked really good. I paid 199$ with one year contract. About the phone, love the design, and the fact that to activate touch screen buttons like for music player you have to open phone first, and then select music. That way you wont start music accidentally in your pocket. Talking about music player it's pretty good if you looking to buy an mp3 player and a phone, shop no more, that if you don't need crazy space because phone comes with 2GB memory no expansion slot. But 2 GB is plenty, for few hours. Battery life is an ok, not great but about 4 hour talking time, music. last thing you can customize allot, like themes, beeps, ring tones, screen saver and so on. And did I mention that sound quality is the best I heard in any GSM phone. The biggest problem i think is the menu. It's deep and sometimes confusing. In order to change ring tones you have to do 8 steps. You will have to read manual. Oh and it's quite big comparing with other flip or slide phones, guys will love that fact, petite ladies will probably hate it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this phone!, January 30, 2009

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love, love, LOVE my Blackberry Curve. I used to own the Pearl, which I thought I loved until I used this. If I would have gone from a full keyboard to the Smart Type or whatever it's called, I definitely wouldn't have liked the Pearl. But this review is about the Curve. It's very easy to use, big screen, good reception and more. If you're looking for a Blackberry, I highly recommend the Curve.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Plan ATT has to offer, January 6, 2009
With rollover minutes, you can't go wrong. I travel often, and end up not using my minutes for a given month; and its nice to have them rollover. I am not too happy with the SMS rates; but oh well...thats the best out there.
I purchased a BB8310 and its a nice little phone with lots of bells and whistles. Also got 75$ cashback for the phone!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible product-no customer service!, November 5, 2008
By
The phone does hold a good signal and is easy to use-those are the only good things I can say about it. The plastic faceplate has started to crack in both upper corners-as did the side rails. This phone has never been dropped or suffered an impact. When I contacted Blackberry to inquire as to availibility of a replacement faceplate I was told they would not "deal with me" as I was an ATT customer. Blackberry did offer to replace it at a cost nearly 200 more than I bought the phone for-or for 300 they would refurbish mine!!! ATT stated since I had "damaged" the phone I had also voided my warranty with them. Do some checking online-you will find the cracking faceplace is a common problem. Neither company was willing to help in any way. In the end I had to buy a faceplace on Ebay and find out how to install it on Youtube. For the price of a 20 piece of plastic (I'm sure it costs Blackberry much less) both ATT and Blackberry have lost any further business of mine. I can only hope others read this-do further checking online and take their business elsewhere as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars I am not satisfied, March 24, 2008
The blackberry curve 8310 is a great phone. My problem is the fine print attached to this phone that is supposed to be just a penny. The agreement that is made when you purchase this phone is to not pay your bill late or change your plan for six months straight. In the case that you do either you will be fully charged for the phone which is $250.00 on the card you used to pay the penny for it initially. You also can't purchase this phone without signing up for a $30.00 unlimited data plan. If removed before six months that is also grounds for Amazon to charge you for the phone at full price. The other issues that I felt where not explained at all is the fact that the blackberry curve 8310 is not covered under AT&T insurance at all. If you lose your phone or it gets stolen you will need to pay to get a new phone because now you are stuck with a two year contract. I wouldn't have gone with this phone or this carrier had I been aware of all these things before hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars BB 8310 Curve, January 31, 2008

This is a great phone. Lot's of features, good sound quality. This is my 4th generation Blackberry. The keyboard is a bit smaller than my prior phone but not much of an adjustment. My wife liked it so much she just bought one as well.
