Build Bridges

The superior audio quality and durability of the RDX Series allows you to build bridges that expand the capabilities of individuals and teams, enabling them to get the job done right, fast, and safely. That means powerful productivity that's perfect for:

Maintaining order and enhancing student safety are priorities for any school. RDX Series radios keep everyone in touch, from teachers and administrators to crossing guards and maintenance personnel. That enables a quick response to any situation, often preventing small problems from escalating into bigger ones.

Success in industry depends on two things: efficiency and responsiveness. Clear communication, often in noisy environments, is essential to avoid downtime--and to enable the fastest response to production problems or injuries. The RDX Series delivers. Its rugged construction stands up to industrial environments, and its long battery life meets the demands of overtime and multi-shift operations.

Excellent service and customer satisfaction are the keys to loyalty and repeat business. RDX Series radios keep your staff connected, from the front desk and concierge to event planners and maintenance personnel. That means a more productive staff and fast response to guest needs, special events, spills and emergencies.

Responsive service is essential to sales and customer satisfaction. RDX Series radios make responsiveness easier to provide, whether it's an answer to a customer's question, a price check, a clean-up or an emergency. With clear, constant communication ensured, customer satisfaction can be taken to the next level.

Property Management
With RDX Series radios, building managers, maintenance technicians, groundskeepers and security personnel can respond fast to tenant needs or emergencies, minimizing costs and enhancing tenant satisfaction.

To keep any construction project on track, you need timely coordination from management to foremen, subcontractors, and individual tradespeople. RDX Series radios make it easy, helping keep projects on schedule, avoid errors, meet deadlines and keep costs on budget.

Excellence in Design; Exceptional Durability

Rugged and reliable, the RDX Series radios undergo rigorous testing in the design process using U.S. Military 810 C, D, E and F Standards--so you can rest assured they hold up under demanding conditions. These tests are designed to simulate the very harshest environments, including:

  • Blowing Rain
Steady rainfall and wind for 30 minutes on every surface.
  • Salt Fog
    48 hours of exposure.
  • Vibration
Up to nine hours of exposure to vibration that simulates the rigors that a radio could undergo while being carried or transported.
  • Blowing Dust
Six hours of blowing dust on all surfaces.
  • Shock
    18 shocks with a minimum G force of 40 G each.
  • Temperature Storage
Multiple hours of exposure to storage temperatures as low as -67° F and as high as 160° F.

IP54/55 Standard
In addition, the RDX Series radios are tested to IP54/55 standards, highly demanding tests for water and dust resistance. The IP54/55 tests include subjecting the radio to a high-speed, high-volume shower from all directions for three minutes. In this test, the radio must endure conditions so harsh that a human being could not survive them.

With their Military and IP ratings, the RDX Series radios have proven they're rugged enough to handle the harsh conditions they'll be exposed to in daily use by your customers--and provide the maximum uptime that helps drive productivity while providing exceptional value.

We'd been through many of the cheaper motorolas and they all failed quickly. These units are fairly tough and great for our 23-acre farm, we've got about 10 of them. We don't really need long distance and in our hilly area the signal fades if you drive more than half a mile away. Most annoying quality is how they slide into the charging base, must be done carefully or else the contacts don't line up. Regarding the person who complained about interference, you can program other frequencies and these do require an FCC license, so in theory the FCC should be giving you distinct frequencies to use. If you splurge for the overpriced cable you can program these using a PC, which is nice.

UPDATE: a few years later we've had a lot of problems with the transmit buttons failing, they are cheaply soldered on.

I purchased several of these in September of 2012 and I'm having to purchase more because the batteries don't last and the reception is terrible. My maintenance staff uses these with the office staff on an apartment community. I'm so disappointed that I spent so much money and am now having to buy more. It won't be of these, that's for sure!!

we used it in two cars on the road. The signal would only go for about 1/2 a mile but the voice quality was good.

I have used this on many job sites and one major issue that has always come up on this line is that the buttons pop off and the internal button breaks easily. I am talking dozens upon dozens of radios breaking from standard work. Bump into something to hard? Damaged. Drop it once? It's probably toast. Also, the belt clip attached to the batteries fails often. Almost as often as the talk button. Repairing them is often not worth the time, where in previous model lines of Motorola you could solder pieces back together, piece out parts from one to keep others working. On these models? Forget it.

No internal volume adjustment, so one person might come in really quite at 10 db and the next one sounds like its coming in at 110db. Always nice, especially while wearing an earpiece.

Range? On a perfect day, in a field, probably a mile. On a poor day with normal structures in your way? Probably 1/2 mile.

Clear voice and buttons stand up to a lot of abuse. Wish I would have got the headsets to go with these units so we could have saved a few more.
