4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, short life span (1.5 years)

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, bad product
If you just want this to listen to music when you walk around, it's a great idea for a product. But if you sweat, don't waste your money. Within two weeks the buttons stop responding and then it's over. Sound quality for calls is also poor in general. 1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, bad product, August 11, 2008
This review is from: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Stereo Bluetooth Headphones [Bulk Packaging] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
If you just want this to listen to music when you walk around, it's a great idea for a product. But if you sweat, don't waste your money. Within two weeks the buttons stop responding and then it's over. Sound quality for calls is also poor in general. This thing is marketed as a sport headset, but after going through the death and exchange of three of these, I gave up and got my money back from Motorola (after an hour on the phone with CS reps). Again, don't waste your money on this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, short life span (1.5 years), September 3, 2008

I've had this headset for over a year. I've been using it with my phone as a hand-free headset and as a stereo headset. I also used it with my computer to make phone calls with Skype but mostly as a mic with a speech recognition software. Speech recognition requires a quality microphone and the S9 really delivered beautifully; I used to wear it around my neck and talk for hours until the battery was drained.

The problem is that after less than two years, the battery died for good. I called Motorola and I was told that the battery is not replaceable and they usually replace the whole unit when it dies. But since my headset was over one year old, they can't do that.

That's too bad because the headset is really good but it'll only work for a little over one year and then it's useless.

Pros:
1. Price Bulk Packaged $42
2. Works perfectly w/ AT&T Tilt (calls & stereo bluetooth)
3. Lightweight, forget I have them on.
4. Intuitive controls (media player & phone)
5. Battery life

Cons:
1. A little tight on the my head (will squeeze sunglasses if your wear them). I think I have a somewhat normal sized noggin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy, May 29, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Stereo Bluetooth Headphones [Bulk Packaging] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
since this was a bulk item (arrived in Amazon packaging) I was a little skeptical about purchasing this item. I had done some research on the S9 and had read mixed reviews of the item. I had planned to use the S9 with my AT&T Tilt on a recent vacation trip. Well the item was ordered only days before my departure and arrived on time as promised.

Intitially after pairing the item with my phone the connecting wasn't that great. I needed to tweak my setting and the S9 has worked great ever since. Although the item arrived in an Amazon box, all items and documentation was included. Great buy for the price!!

1.0 out of 5 stars **NOT** designed for active user, August 17, 2008
This review is from: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Stereo Bluetooth Headphones [Bulk Packaging] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This product is absolutely false advertising. One of their product features described on Motorola's website for S9:
--> Water and sweat resistant

I bought this item for the main purpose of working out and it was a complete disappointment. I already own a Motorola HT820 for years and I've had no problem using it during my workouts and runs. The only thing that is somewhat anoying with the HT820 is the fact it's a little bulky on the ears when running. When the S9 came out and I saw this *sweat resistant* feature, I decide to get it. Boy was I wrong in making that decision. It was fine working with my laptop and my phone without doing any activity. I then went on for a long run and I was sweaty. Guess what - The headset's volume went all the way down to min and I had no way to adjust it upward. All my volume buttons were completely broken (shorted out). Pressing on them would not yield any result. After spending a lot of time thinking that it was my phone and tried to fix my phone, I tested with bluetooth from my laptop and I came to conclusion that something was wrong with the S9. I started googling around and sure enough, I found numerous other users having the exactly same issue:

http://blog.treonauts.com/2007/05/treo_a2dp_stere.html.

So bewarned: Sweat and your headset is gone. Don't even think about the rain.

I had no doubt that if I contacted S9 and got another pair, I would have run into the exact same problem since other people tried that solution already and nothing was better after getting their 2nd or 3rd pair.

Motorola. Fix the product feature description to reflect what your product can really do!

5.0 out of 5 stars Why doesnt everyone get the Bulk package?!, July 5, 2008
This review is from: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Stereo Bluetooth Headphones [Bulk Packaging] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I received the item on time in full working condition and it even came with the charger, cd, a manual and replacement ear buds. The bulk package is 20-30 dollars cheaper than the retail box and comes with almost the same stuff and works just as well (I think the retail version comes with a car charger). No reason not to get this! The headphones' quality is better than I expected and it's quick and easy to sync with your bluetooth device.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap - don't waste your money, November 6, 2008

I've bought 2 of these in the past year or so. The first pair died when I touched the buttons with sweaty fingers during a workout. I guessed that caused permanent damage to the buttons - thereafter the buttons randomly and frequently pressed themselves - very annoying.

Second pair worked great for a month or two, then the same weird thing happened with the buttons: it's like someone is pressing them repeatedly - but this time I was very careful not to get moisture near the headset.

Several calls to Motorola and no one was there to take my call. Seriously - customer service rings and then a recorded voice says "No one can take your call - try back later."

5.0 out of 5 stars iPhone OS 3.0 and Motorola S9, June 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Stereo Bluetooth Headphones [Bulk Packaging] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
A quick report:

I purchased the S9 headphones to use with my iPhone 3G running OS 3.0.

The iPhone and S9 automatically connected and all is working well. So far I am pleased with the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plays nicely with iPhone 3.0 firmware, June 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Stereo Bluetooth Headphones [Bulk Packaging] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The good:

Music playback quality. Sounds great.

The fit. While a bit snug (for me and my head) the earpieces stay in and provide excellent noise isolation.

The controls. The buttons are easy to find and use.

The lack of a cord. It's a lot easier to carry these around without worrying about a cord tangling.

The phone interface. Clear sound in both directions.

Paring. It was effortless.

The bad:

Song skip forward and back doesn't work. That is a fault of Apple and the lack of a full headset profile in their stereo bluetooth implementation. Hopefully they'll fix that soon.

Sweat resistance. I'll yield to the many other comments and suggest that people sweat differently; it may be impossible to make a consumer quality headset that is immune to sweat in all cases.

Because of the design you cannot listen comfortably while lying down.

The ugly:

You have to live with the dorky headband and its red accents.

Summary:

Great for the office and probably while doing light exercise. Not so good for marathons if you sweat a lot.

1.0 out of 5 stars BROKEN!, October 30, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Stereo Bluetooth Headphones [Bulk Packaging] (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The product arrived and the buttons to control the volume and music didn't work at all. I tried to exchange it for a new pair, but they were out of stock. I did get a refund from Amazon though. A pair my husband has broke also, but MOTOROLA is fixing that. I guess they're just prone to breaking, I wouldn't buy them again.
