5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality a Little Expensive November 27, 2011
I just bought a Droid Razr. I took advantage of the one cent sale Amazon Wireless is having. My former phone was the Samsung Code, which was a Windows 6.1 version. I was with MetroPCS. I'm in Tampa. I really like the Razr so far. I've only had it a week.

HD Station: I did my usual google and youtube research. I was going to buy the regular HD dock which is half the price, but doesn't have the USB ports on the back like the HD Station does. I couldn't find any of the HD docks available for shipping any time soon. After doing some more research, I just went to my local Verizon wireless store and bought one of the HD Stations. The Station comes with an micro HDMI cable. It's actually almost 4 feet long. I'm running the dock into my pioneer receiver with the included HDMI cable. From the receiver the signal goes to a samsung led tv by HDMI.

I thought about using bluetooth for a mouse and a keyboard. I found out there might be some pairing issues or even some slowdowns when playing audio or video when pairing both a bluetooth mouse and a bluetooth keyboard. So before i bought anything else, I hooked up a wired usb mouse and a wired usb keyboard to the back of the dock. well, that worked fine. The sound works perfectly also thru HDMI. There is a mini stereo port on the back of the dock to plug in some computer type speakers if that's your setup. I could navigate the dock image on the tv with no problems. Scrolling worked fine as did the mouse cursor. Mouse clicks worked good too. Typing text worked perfectly. Next I was considering the Logitech 400 model keyboard. It has the mini 2.4 ghz usb receiver. It also has a track-pad built into it so I wouldn't have to have a mouse. I finally ruled that on out because there was no back-lighting on the keys. I tend to be in low light conditions when I'm on the computer or watching tv.

I wondered if I could use the Logitech mini 2.4 ghz usb receiver and if it would work with a 2.4 ghz mouse and 2.4 ghz keyboard paired. What i found out is that I had to have the mouse and keyboard paired first with a computer. Maybe your setup won't require this setup step. I am using a logitech performance mx mouse and a k800 keyboard on my laptop. All I did was take out the little usb receiver from the laptop and plug it into the back of the HD station. the mouse and keyboard worked perfectly. That's my current setup and it works for me. I've ordered another keyboard and mouse for my laptop. I love the k800 keyboard. I'm spoiled with the back lighting. the performance mx is a very good mouse, but I'm going with the Marathon mouse this time for the laptop. It's slightly smaller than the performance mx and the battery life is supposed to be much better. I can use up the battery in the performance mx in a day and a half.

You will have to play with the Dock screen modes to see what you like. It's just a little different than being on a regular windows computer. You can however access all the features of the phone on the tv screen and have a web browser going also. I'm using the standard hd dock firefox browser. I think I saw a video with someone using the dolphin browser.

I believe the performance of the HD dock and the HD station are exactly the same. There are just a few more features with the station. Something else to think about is the new Motorola Smart Controller. This looks like an interesting accessory too. It's a bluetooth device. I don't think it's a good idea to have too many bluetooth devices attached at one time. Sometimes there can be pairing issues. The tiny Logitech and other brand 2.4 ghz usb receiver makes more sense for my needs instead of a bluetooth mouse & keyboard or track-pad. I'm happy with the dock. The price will come down eventually.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid webtop docking station! Recommended! March 2, 2012

This dock really offers quite a lot to the droid razr. I bought one and use it for firefox web and document editing on a large tv screen rather than my laptop. This "HD station" versus the "hd dock" are different enough to make it worth the extra bucks - namely having more USB ports on the back. I was able to plug in mice, keyboards, wireless audio transmitters and other nifty things. I like being able to access the mobile features on the TV as well as being able to see the full version of the firefox browser. I can send texts, answer calls, browse maps, and run any other application from the mobile view (a replica of your phone face) and then I'm able to multitask and do online activities. I really enjoy the simplicity of the docking station- plug your phone in, turn on your TV and it loads up rather quickly. They just released an update for the droid that made the webtop run smoother. Another nice use is while traveling. Leave the HDMI cord home, but with the extra USB slots, you can charge all your other devices without using 840 outlets. Works well when I'm on the go. Overall, a well designed product!

1.0 out of 5 stars You won't get what you ordered! May 25, 2012

Ordered the item and it came quickly, but without the HDMI cable or the additional adapter plate that I need to use with my RAZR MAXX. Contacted Customer Service and they gave me the number for Motorola. I told them that they, Customer Service, had to take care of it. They responded by telling me that the product was not available for exchange (though the item still shows as available on the website) and offered me a $15 credit for the missing cable. They did not deal with the missing adapter plate at all.

The HD Dock works great. Combine it with a Bluetooth keyboard and track pad and you have yourself a PC on the big screen. Also a great way to watch Netflix, HuLu Plus, etc.
