We bought these based on the 20 mile range for a recent move. They were really helpful for chatting while on the road.

The drawback is that I have no idea where the ideal conditions really work. We tried these out in FL (very flat) at just a few miles and they didn't work. Since the grocery store locally is just a couple of miles away and my wife has a pay as you go cell phone, we had hoped these would replace day to day cell phone use, but so far no such luck. For short range, I recommend, but don't expect to get 20 miles.

I purchased the T9680SAME radios about a month ago and took them on a long trip with a family of 4 that included the Grand Canyon and Philmont Scout Ranch. We used the radios to communicate with the kids to explore the areas and when my wife and I had to go in different directions. They helped a lot to keep the trip running smoothly. The voice quality is very good (as long as the volume is set just a bit lower than max). I also used them on a Cub Scout Pack hike so the lead to keep in touch with teh people bring up the rear - a nice way to keep the large group together and in sync. Overall the radios performed great! The only thing I did not test was the range limits. The weather info was a interesting but not extremely useful but we did not have any true weather emergencies.

After have bought a Cobra LI-5600-2 DX VP Micro talk 20-Mile Range 2-Way Radio - 2 Pack, I have decided to return these to Best Buy Store, because it doesn't charge the lithium battery completely and additionally it has a bad reception between radios, so I have decided to buy a Motorola 2 Way Radio model T9680RSAME. It is a solid, comfortable and reliable 2 ways. It has a great sound and clear communication between radios in or out of the city. I live in Monterrey Mexico and I can communicate with them easily in anywhere place due Monterrey have several Mountains around the city. Great Radios and the cost it's cheap really.

While in the US, I have decided to purchase Motorola radios to use them in different places such as Disney parks & shopping malls. It was really good to have them and communicate with my wife specially if we split.

At the parks, the voice was clear, no interruption by other radios due to the variety of channels, it has saved us a lot of tele-mobile cost.

We had a problem using the device once at the Tyson Mall in Washington DC where I was at the lower level of the mall and my wife was at the second floor, other than that, the device worked perfectly.

I recommend having the device. And use a regular batteries instead of the rechargeable ones which in the box, they give you a good power along with long usage time.

The radios were purchased for local (Virginia ) use as a result of using a like item while big game hunting in Wyoming. The radios have excellent range and surpass in every operational mode our previous Motorola radios.

The Motorola T9680RSAME IS POWERFUL, CLEAR, AND IT FUNCTIONS AS ADVETISED ON A NON MOUNTAINOUS AREA. That is what I purchased them for.

Radios worked good for hunting. Able to turn off roger calls. Didn't test the distance too far but worked for under a mile. Overall, would buy them again.

Radios work great and the weather stations are a real bonus. Speach is clear and understandable.

I would recommend these radios to everyone. I have been playing with radios for over 30 years so I know quality and clarity in radios.

Great radios. SAME works perfect and can be a lifesaver here in the Midwest. Radios work well for our intended use. Haven't tested extreme distance yet. Seem very rugged.

I have had no problems with these radios. I use them in my Jeep and hiking/backpacking. In either sport I am usually not very far from the folks I am talking to, so I have not had any distance transmission issues. Use with the aux mic for additional flexibility and think it is a great combination.
