I just got off the phone with motorola and they told me that these don't have a problem with these shutting off even though they are known for that all over the internet! They also told me that using them at a business voids the warranty because they are not made for daily usage. They are toys. Wow. Way to go motorola. They did not want to help at all with this situation. I bought four of these for where I work and ALL four have the same problem. They just randomly shut off. I did check the timer on all of them and they are all have the timers turned off. It could be 5 minutes after I set them down it could be 3 hours. AVOID THESE AT ALL COSTS!!!

I purchased these for my paintball scenario team, and i went with the smaller size to keep my loadout lighter. I do not recommend these particular units to anyone.

Like a few others, they cut power at the slightest tap, bump, whatever. Its particularly frustrating when you dont realize that the unit has actually been off without you realizing it.

There i also no belt clip loop or anything, so carrying the unit becomes another issue.

and i do not know if it was just mine, but the micc jacks did not work at all. Either unit. I tried numerous mics on both radios and it was almost like the jacks purpose is cosmetic. stay away from these. unless your kid wants some walkie talkies which they would be fine for, pass these up.

It turns off every by setting it on a desk without hitting any buttons. And there is no clip or sub-channels - don't even consider these.

I didn't even try the radio. No belt clip made it useless for my purpose. Otherwise, it was small and Motorola so I was hopeful yet disappointed.

These walkie talkies didn't even make a quarter mile range on flat ground with few trees.

I purchased these walkie talkies to communicate with my son when he gets out of school. I figured with a 10 mile range they would work well. I was wrong. My son's school is not even a mile away and the communication with these devices don't even cover 1 mile. There are houses that are in the area that may interfere with communication but, the coverage range is not even 1 mile around houses.

These were purchased by me for my spouse. There was a problem and he finally got to someone and they advised returning them for replacements. The replacements were OK.

Bought these for backup communication for climbing on windy days. Charged them up, turned off the auto-shutdown feature, and put one in my pocket. Pulled it out later and discovered that it had turned itself off. Found out later the other one had done the same. This is apparently a very common problem for these. The time it takes is unpredictable. Lack of a clip, and a microscopic tether loop are really the final straw.
