4.0 out of 5 stars good little phone
I like this little flip phone. The service has been good and the features are easy to use. The only reason I give 4 stars is because I am not sure how long the phone will last. The flip part is a little weak, but we will have to see. It was really easy to add minutes, and you can do it right from your Net10 phone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Customer Service
They may have the cheapest rate, but you'll pay for it with the worst customer service on the planet. Just try and get the correct address to return your phone....good luck. Phone tree hell is more like it. Once you get there, the outsourcing to overseas operators who haven't a clue should just about kill anybody's patience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works just fine, August 16, 2006
This review is from: Motorola V171 Prepaid Phone (Net10) with 300 Minutes Included (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've been using this phone with the Net10 service since March, and have to say I am very happy with it. Coverage areas have been great.
I don't use a cell phone very often, so this was the most economical way for me to go. Although the phone doesn't have all the bells and whistles like other phones have....it gets the job done!

In case you need to return your phone, here is the correct address: Tracfone Return Center, Bright Point Reverse Logistics, 1251 Perry Rd, Plainfield, IN 46168.

I'm sending my phone back today....I'll let you know if I ever receive my refund. Yikes, what a terrible company to deal with.....you are warned!!!

update: Sorry, I forgot to post this long ago. I did receive my refund. I'm re-living the nightmare as I write this...I may not sleep tonight.

4.0 out of 5 stars it works fine, July 22, 2006
This review is from: Motorola V171 Prepaid Phone (Net10) with 300 Minutes Included (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have not had any problems with this phone.I dont use it for long periods at a time ...only in the car and for text.Adding minutes is easy and i REALLY GET MY MONEYS WORTH WITH THE ROLLOVER.I averaged it at less than 10 bucks a month with 600 minutes to spare...so its great for me.I got better ringtones online and still waiting to see about wallpaper.Overall,I would recommend this phone if you dont need more than 100 minutes per week.

First, Motorola makes a fine little phone. The problem is NET10 service, or serious lack there of. In a year of owning four family phones through NET10, I've yet to make an on line purchase with out having to call customer support. Get ready for the mother of all phone trees! After 15 minutes of push 1 for English 2 for .... you'll get a person who says "I apologize for any inconvenient you have been having" every time they answer or ask a question! Of course, if your not skilled in listening to broken English you may never understand what they say.
Coverage is a real issue. NET10 likes to say they have the same coverage as any plan phone, but it just is not so. You'll find some serious holes in the service while my business plan phone is showing full strength signals. Is it a cheap way to go for a phone? Yes, but at a high cost of service and coverage. One Track Phone we have seems to be a little better, and you can buy more calendar time at a cheaper rate than NET10.
Good luck,
Your going to need it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stop the Insanity, January 5, 2006
This review is from: Motorola V171 Prepaid Phone (Net10) with 300 Minutes Included (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is a excellent product and will serve well as a emergency and "use every now and again phone". If your plan is to use it for everyday use then get a paid plan.

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrated and I don't even have service yet., June 15, 2007

I spent weeks to find what I thought was the best plan for the money, sent away for the V171 (it was only 30 bucks through Net10) and waited. The first problem I encountered was them sending it Fedex with the signature required option. I work late and it took me a week to finally get to the Fedex warehouse to pick up the phone.

My next challenge was to have my old number transferred. That was 10 days ago and nothing yet. I checked the website which said if the problem hadn't been resolved within 24-48 hours to call customer service. Since I live on the West coast, by the time I got home, they were closed. I finally got through to them today and all they would say was "it will be 24-48 hours" with absolutely no information on where the transfer process stood.

As if the bad Net10 customer service isn't frustrating enough, the phone looses it's charge within 3 days when it's turned off and only lasts about a day when it's on. My old Virgin phone would last a week on one charge.

Once they get my number transferred I get to find out how long it takes to actually activate the thing. Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for.

1.0 out of 5 stars INSANITY HAS A NAME, NET10 CUSTOMER SERVICE. Outsourced to Belize, CA, January 20, 2009

I had used my Net10 (acquired by TracPhone) cell phone for nearly 3 years with great satisfaction. NO MORE! They sold out and have outsourced their customer service department and have finished my association with NET10 or TracPhone! In Dec. 2008, I Placed a call to their Belize, CA customer service technical dept. (no American center to reach) talked with rep. (who was very hard to understand) and was put on hold for a total of 1 hour. My second call placed on January 6th, 2009 and after two more wasted hours (and another english impared rep.) I was once again promised a 3 to 5 day delivery time and then I would get my sim card. NOT! It is now Jan 20th, & no such luck. Not going to waste anymore of my time or money with NET10 or TracPhone company. I've e-mailed 3 times voicing my displeasure at the lack of good tech. cust. service, I then received a call from another rep. in Belize, CA who asked about my e-mail and once again I was given the standard "I would receive my new sim card in 3 to 5 bus. days." It's become laughable with their promises! With their communication problems, they apparently like to send FedEx a shipping label request but no actual product to ship. Then they tell you it's FedEx's fault, NOT! I've been told "thrice" now, by a heavily accented and hard to understand Belizian rep. that it has already been sent; and I need to check with FedEx. I have wasted over three hours due to language barriers that would not have happened with "American" workers. Shame on you NET10 or is it TracPhone now? Keep jobs and your service plans here in America and maybe you won't lose all your customers. Net10 Tracphone KEEP YOUR NIGHTMARES FOR YOURSELF!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleased so far, April 18, 2008

I actually have the Motorola V 176 phone with Net10. I purchased it locally and it would not activate. I called Net10 and immediately got a tech. Yes, they are from out of the country, but I was able to understand them. The next day I still did not have service, but I got a tech immediately. Was pleased with that. They could not resolve the problem from their end and said they would send me a new SIM card. It actually arrived in 2 days, special delivery. I was really impressed with that, called and the phone was activated.

This phone does not have bells and whistles, but it actually has better coverage at our home than my daughters fancy expensive sprint phone. I only want a phone for quick calls and/or emergencies. It seems clear, has caller ID, and voice mail. Thats all I need. I am really pleased to not have to have a 2 year commitment. I haven't had to add minutes yet, but so far, I am pleased with their service, and pleased with the phone for what I need. If you don't need fancy gadgets, try the Motorola V176 and Net10. 10 cents a minute and 5 cent text messages. Its great!

2.0 out of 5 stars net10 customer service, February 2, 2008
This review is from: Motorola V171 Prepaid Phone (Net10) with 300 Minutes Included (Wireless Phone Accessory)
having dealt with net10 csr's , i can honestly say they suck big time, i don't care if they are paying you to use it, stay away ! every time u have to call, and you will, count on waiting at least a half hour before getting connected, then , they will not understand English , they are unable to grasp what is going on , and, they will not fix your complaint , this is one company that should fold, or open up a call center in the USA, because the ones they use now are totally incompetent
