2.0 out of 5 stars Terrible user interface
I chose this phone because I wanted something sturdy, with good battery life, and that had excellent reception. I wasn't looking for a lot of bells and whistles. I will say that this phone does deliver on all of those points. But when it arrived there were two crucial aspects to it that made it a deal-breaker for me.

First, I find the user interface on this...

This review is from: Motorola V365 PTT Gibraltar Phone (AT&T, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
CNET gave this phone a less than stellar review, but they utterly missed the point. Not everyone wants a phone/computer/camera/e-mail retriever/Klingon translator/backhoe/satellite TV. Some of us just want a dependable phone with outstanding battery life, solid reception that doesn't drop calls and sounds good. This sturdy little unit does all that with aplomb, takes bearable pictures, has a very decent speakerphone, is bluetooth capable, and has PTT for those so inclined. I weathers abuse well and the battery life runs circles around every cell phone I've had previously. If you want a phone that does everything under the sun, but none of it very well, this is not the phone for you. If you're intent on a phone that is an outstanding phone, this unit should be on your list.

5.0 out of 5 stars An affordable phone with all the great features!, November 7, 2006
This review is from: Motorola V365 PTT Gibraltar Phone (AT&T, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've had this phone for 2 days now and I do feel that the product description provided by cingular wireless was accurate. I researched extensively the week before I bought this phone to find a phone that would have all the cool and necessary features. Frankly, I was a bit disappointed upon my initial search b/c all the phones had some elements but not all the elements I was looking for in a phone. Even the Motorola Razor fell short in several categories. On November 1st I check Cingular's website and came across this phone. It not only had all the features I wanted but was priced well too. Upon receiving the phone and using it I am still not disappointed. It has lived up to its description. I feel very good about owning this phone for the next 2 years. I also purchased the 1 Gig mem card on AMAZON! Get it here! It's way cheaper than Cingular's website!!! The memory card is very cool and works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of features. A solid product., February 2, 2007
This review is from: Motorola V365 PTT Gibraltar Phone (AT&T, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have had this phone for two weeks (Ebay), and am very happy with it. As others have noted, battery life and sound quality are excellent. Voice dialing works very well, as well as blue tooth function. Icon clearly identifies whether info is stored on phone or SIM card. Another plus is that back light time can be extended. Some may find the phone a touch thick and heavy, but it is too good not to overlook these potential drawbacks.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! What a phone!, September 16, 2007

I am happy! I finally found a cellphone that can handle my work
environment. I work outdoors most of the time in noisy conditions, and
my Motorola V3 Razr just wasn't making the grade. I needed a good,
basic phone that is TOUGH, has good battery life, and is loud enough to
hear and be heard on. When I need to talk to someone, I don't give a
darn about how small or "cute" a phone is, or about extra features like
walkie-talkie capability, web-browsing, or how many mp3 music files a
phone can store. The Motorola V365 meets and exceeds my needs:

1. An extremely strong, durable case that can withstand almost anything
but intentional abuse. An internal antenna with great transmit and
receive (at least with Cingular/AT&T), not an external type that can
get caught on something and break-off.

2. GREAT battery life. After four months of use, I have never been at
risk of losing power. With other phones, I used to carry a spare
battery. Not any more!

3. Excellent volume on the earpiece and main speakers. Now, I don't
even have to crank up the volume to its maximum setting except in the
most extreme conditions.

Now for you gadget freaks, all those extra features are there.
Push-To-Talk (PTT) capability, Bluetooth wireless, MP3 player,
mega-pixel camera, and 1gb micro-disk storage capability for plenty of
songs, snapshots, and video. Motorola also has a large assortment of
accessories such as headphones (both Bluetooth and wired), signal and
data transfer cables, and chargers. In addition to the memory on your
SIM card, the phone has about 6.6mb of onboard storage for lots of
phone numbers and ringtones.

Most of the V365s on the market are the three-band GSM version like the
two we have, but I have seen some quad-band GSM "world" versions
advertised (info on these has not yet been posted on Motorola's
website). I was able to buy both of ours brand new for less than
$100.00ea on eBay, but they normally retail for about $150.00ea with a
service agreement.

The V365 isn't a piece of jewelry, but it isn't a brick-phone either.
It measures 3.5"h x 1.8"w x 1.1"d. Other owners have commented about
how "thick" the phone is, and complained about the bulge showing under
sports coats, etc. This is NOT an issue for me; I kept my V3 for
"dress" occasions.

Bottom line - We couldn't be more pleased with the V365, the best
product of any kind that I have purchased in many years!

5.0 out of 5 stars A little big, but durable and reliable, May 1, 2007
By

This review is from: Motorola V365 PTT Gibraltar Phone (AT&T, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This phone is not as fancy as other phones I have seen. The screen is not great like with Samsung, the camera is not very good and it doesn't have an MP3 player.

However, I don't have a LAN line and I use my cell phone A LOT. So, I needed a phone that was reliable and would not break easily -- this phone is good for that. It is basic, but works well.

PROS
1. Good reception. I have had one dropped call, but I normally have four bars.
2. Sound quality is clear and loud.
3. Durable. Phones like the Razer feel and look like they will crack/shatter if they are dropped. This phone feels like it can be dropped a few times and will still work.
4. Simple menu.
5. Good battery life.
6. Really good speakerphone. The speakerphone mic is really big on the back of the phone and it is loud.

CONS
1. This phone is thick. It is not huge, but the pictures on Amazon do not really show how big the phone is so you should look on another site and see it being held in someone's hand or a good side view to understand its size.
2. I don't like the Push To Talk feature because I will never use it, but the button is on the side of the phone and I keep thinking it is a menu or volume button. Whenever you push it, the phone will ask if you want to "turn on" the PTT feature.
3. The inside screen is a little small.
4. I wish it came in other colors.

All in all, this phone is a great choice if you really need a good phone and can live without all the extras. My biggest problem with this phone is really the size. However, while it is a bit bulky, it isn't very heavy.

I bought this phone straight from Motorola over a month ago now, and I haven't regretted one minute of it. It took me a week or so to adapt to Motorola features after having Nokias prior, but now it's smooth sailing. The speakerphone others have talked about is awesome - I have Bluetooth, but often I'll just click the speakerphone on in the car and talk easily. I suppose the phone is bulkier than most nowadays, but that really doesn't matter to me since I appreciate a phone I can handle and not feel like I'm going to break in half.

I can honestly say there's nothing I don't like about my Moto.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tough, January 29, 2007
This review is from: Motorola V365 PTT Gibraltar Phone (AT&T, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I've had this phone for almost a week, and so far I am very pleased with the performance. It's a little thicker than most flip phones, but seems a lot more durable. My previous phone was the V220, and the transition to this one is seamless. This phone has everything I was looking for, bluetooth, mp3 capability (with purchase of micro-SD memory card), camera (VGA) with video capability. I used the phone mostly to check e-mail, but calls I've made with the phone are clear and loud. The duplex speakerphone is clear and loud, the music tones sound great! This phone also has Push-to-Talk capability (optional, service plan required), which if it's not used, doesn't get in the way. The phone has 5mb of storage built in, plenty for pictures and sounds.

4.0 out of 5 stars moto v365 has 2 versions, July 6, 2007
This review is from: Motorola V365 PTT Gibraltar Phone (AT&T, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I love my v365 however it took a while to locate its mp3 player due to it being a different version than the v365 shown in a demo on the motorola site. I purchased mine through ATT and they advertise that its not an mp3 phone although it IS. (see moto site for more specs and info) My mp3 player is located under sounds as "playlist". You need the memory card to store music due to the phone's small 5mb memory. Moto advertises that you need the phone tools software to download music but I simply inserted my card into an SD adapter that came with my 3-in-1 memory card then inserted it into my pc's card reader and began opening mobile>audio file then dropping ripped music files into the audio file. On the other version of v365s, there is a DPA (digital audio player) under the games/appl. area. I don't know why the mp3 players are in different locations but maybe this will help someone when they open it. I love the loud speaker and great signal that I always have. I also love the long battery life. I don't use the PTT as I thought so no comment on that. If you don't want it,don't use it. Overall, this is an excellent and sturdy phone. I love the bulk design. I don't have to worry about it slipping from my hands. Other than the difficulty locating its mp3 player, this is an excellent phone. This is my first moto. I might just stick with them a while.

Solid phone. I've yet to have a dropped call. Bluetooth connects effortlessly. The feel of this phone is most excellent. These other thin phones and my big hands don't blend well. I like the feel of the v365 in my hand. I can't say enough good things about this phone. I have had RAZR's, L2's, E62's, and Treo's... this is my favorite phone ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars mostly good, a little bad, April 21, 2007
This review is from: Motorola V365 PTT Gibraltar Phone (AT&T, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Firstly, this is a good phone. It's durable, decent battery life, and good features. The sound quality is also very good. The bluetooth is great.
Now my gripes...
You have to pay extra for the software to connect the phone to your computer. I can't believe this is not included right out of the box. The PTT (push to talk) button is in the worst place ever and is always getting accidentally pressed. This is particularly annoying because PTT is a pay service. It is a fat phone too, and wont fit in the cell phone pocket in my pants. The camera is so-so, but not unusual for most phones.
All in all, I am moderately satisfied with this phone. It's big, and no software was included, but it is reliable and durable.
