![]() Put a little luxury in your pocket with the RAZR V3i Dolce & Gabbana. |
Design
At .55 inches thick, the RAZR V3i is virtually the same thickness as the original RAZR. And like the original RAZR, the phone's design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, fully-anodized aluminum construction. A large 176 x 220 color display with 262,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display caller ID pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The 1.23 megapixel camera lens is housed above this display. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control.
Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A mini-USB port is provided, which, while useful for fast data transfer, can also be used with compatible USB stereo headsets. Note that the phone does not have a standard 2.5mm headset jack.
And don't forget, Dolce & Gabbana and Motorola wouldn't think of offering a phone without making available a special edition gold plated Motorola Bluetooth H700 Headset. Coordinate your phone and Bluetooth headset in style.
Calling Features
The RAZR V3i's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. The phone also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. Speaker-independent technology allows any speaker to dial numbers with the voice dialing system. And because the RAZR V3i is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the RAZR V3i including a calculator with currency converter, a calendar and an alarm clock. The phone can also be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar and other data with your PC.
Imaging and Entertainment
The V3i's 1.3 megapixel camera bridges the gap between phones and quality digital cameras. The digital zoom-enabled camera is also designed to capture video. You can even print your shots on a Bluetooth-enabled printer. Embedded animated screensavers and full screen wallpapers are built-in so you can set up the RAZR V3i to suit your tastes. The phone supports games, as well as gaming connectivity via Bluetooth.
Into bringing your music with you everywhere you go? With the V3i D & C's hot-swappable MicroSD memory card slot, you can stylishly take all of your favorite music with you. Your music library is now limited only by how much memory you bring along. And don't forget, the V3i DC's music player runs on one of the most popular music software system's of all time-- Apple's iTunes!
Vital Statistics

Looks good, but...,
By G. Edwards (Fort Bragg, CA United States) - See all my reviews

This phone sucks. The software is slow, especially when the phone is loaded with lots of pictures. The buttons are clumsy to push, especially if you have big fingers. Ergonomically you would do better with an older model Motorola cellphone. The buttons on the side are laid out in a manner that when you handle the phone you frequently tend to change the ringer to off inadverdently. That is a real design boo boo.
The RF section is, however, pretty sensitive and stacks up well against any other phone in terms of talk distance and reception. Don't waste your money.

Gorgeous, Functional,

If you're looking for a phone that is the best value for your money, stop reading right here. This phone isn't for you.
If, however, you're looking for a functional phone that is attractive and garners a lot of attention from passersby and fashionistas alike, you're in the right place. The Motorola V3i DG is a great phone - it is a RAZR after all. Some people don't like the RAZR because they think it's been played out or overdone, but this phone is unique and has a definite "cool factor". The phone's features are a standard late 2005 or early 2006 featureset - there's an MP3 player, a transflash slot, a camera (that could be a lot better, but that's Motorola for you - it's a phone), a video camera, support for real-song ringtones, and a nice set of screens. If you're looking for a device for e-mail, this probably is not your phone. If you like to text constantly and IM casually and you talk often, this is a great phone for you. My one gripe is that the speaker phone is of a low quality compared to the RAZR I had for Verizon. Other than that, it's an excellently-crafted piece of work. I highly recommend this phone (with the awesome-looking DG case).

In the end...it's still just a cell phone,

This phone I found is over priced, and doesn't work any differently than my mom's razor phone that she got for free from her cell phone provider. If you want a phone that looks like it belongs to a pimp, by all means buy it. In the end, it's still a cell phone. Wasn't worth my time. Hope I spared you from losing some hard earned cash. The phone will lose the ringer or not ring at all depending on how you handle the phone. The buttons on the side are not very ergonomical. I wish I had read the reviews and saved my money.
