Hubby and I got these back in '02 and loved them. Over the years, with Verizon's free upgrades to the fancier phones, we've taken advantage of those offers. None of the newer ones have been as sturdy, beefy, and dependable as these. The speaker is phenomenal! There is no camera, which is fine. Screen is not color, which is fine. For us, the style is sleek and much more attractive than the more modern phones.

Now that Verizon's "free" phones cost $30, there are only one or two basic devices available (we want no data plan), the phones are cheaply made, and planned obsolescence is an issue, I've hauled these old phones out of our misc. electronics box and will see if/how they charge. We've ditched the other devices we've used along the way every two years, but have always held on to these. I expect that the technology is so old that reception and battery life may be lacking, but we'll give it a try.
