Took a little getting used to with the new interface that appears but works great to play your music while using the navigation.

Bought this SPECIFICALLY because I have a Motorola car charger already, AND a 3.5 mm AUX cable, so who needs to pay for ANOTHER one? I didn't. Don't know why folks are complaining, comes WITH a 3M foam backed dash mounting disk, and EVERYTHING you need to mount your phone. My Droid Razr Maxx, went in, the car nav/music big clunky button app came up, and I was, pardon the pun, READY TO ROLL! Anyway, if you want a place to put your Razr Maxx in the car, you HAVE all the cables, THIS is it! Exceeded expectations...and the rest of you folks...READ THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION FIRST!

Pros:
1. They didn't stick me with yet another vehicle charger for my phone. I have roughly a dozen various chargers Motorola products in my house. I don't need more.

2. The phone holder portion of this thing is completely perfect. No joke. The Maxx fits like a glove, the bit that connects the charger is a snap and smooth as can be. Launches your car dock programs (I have a third part app that I prefer over the stock, but whatever you prefer, it launches it). Snaps out easily and both snap in and snap out are one-handed operations. It is, basically, perfect for the phone.

Neither pros nor cons:
1. Comes with an aux cable. I can rarely find one when I need one, but I also don't have an aux port in my car, so I'll probably lose this one promptly.

2. No, it will not work with your case. Of any kind. I don't use cases, so I don't care, but if you use a case, it won't fit.

Cons:
1. The arm. It's about four inches long and does not have any pivot points. So no matter where you mount it, it will be four inches away from the surface. This is completely unacceptable in my car. Mounting on the windshield puts it so far away from me that it's useless; mounting it on the dash makes it hover in my sightline. I can't put it on the left side of the steering wheel because a) I don't want to, and b) the charger doesn't reach that far. I had the Motorola dock for my Droid X previously, which was great because it had a pivot point in the arm in addition to the rotation of the plate that the phone hooked into. If this had that, it would be made of perfection. But it doesn't. So it's not.

2.

This dock is basic and works fine as a dock for the Motorola Droid Razr MAXX without a case. The past Motorola Droid docks, which I have used, have been superior. It's disappointing when you get used to great features and they get removed from subsequent products.

Here are features, from other docks (notably the Droid X), all of which do not exist on the Droid Razr MAXX Dock. The suction arm on the Droid X Dock had a pivot in the middle, making it capable of being mounted in countless configurations. The Razr Maxx Dock just has a little curved arm with the ball at the end. The Droid X Dock had a removeable back plate, which allowed the Dock to be removed from the arm/ball mount, without disconnecting the entire arm/suction cup from the windshield. The Razr Maxx has no way to do this, unless you unscrew the butterfly screw to disconnect at the joint, which is very difficult while mounted. The Droid X and Droid Razr (not MAXX) has the removeable liner, allowing the phones to be mounted with the Motorola/Verizon case. Not the case with the Droid Razr Maxx. It's frustrating when you get used to good products from good companies and they decide to start cutting costs/features/quality.

As mentioned the dock has decent build quality and works good as a standard dock. It does have the power plug, built-in, which is handy. The mini-USB that plugs in the phone slides left and right, which allows you to mount and remove the phone very easily. It's as simple as, slide USB plug away from phone, insert phone, slide plug back into phone. I found the plug to line up well with the receptacle on the phone.

I am really happy with the quality of this product. It mounts on the windshield very securely. It came with a little round plastic disk that you can mount to the dashboard. I stuck the disk on my dashboard (on a spot that about 30% of the disk wasn't making contact because of the rounded dashboard) late evening one day and left it in the sun all day the next day to make sure it stuck good. The day after that i mounted the dock on it and had been rock-solid since then. It doesn't block the front or rear cameras. It didn't come with any cables but i already had plenty of them.

This flaw just does not make sense. The Droid 1 car dock allowed cases. The Droid 3 car dock allowed cases. The RAZR car dock allows cases. The RAZR MAXX?????? Nope! Well, I am sorry but I will not take my protective case apart and figure out where to stick it every time I get in a car and need to use the dock.

What a design blunder!? And still no resolution from Motorola. This product has been out far too long for them not to have realized the mistake and fix it. It seems to be a big problem on many forumns with people like me who like to protect their $650 dollar investment. I will choose the case over the dock everytime. If Motorola would simply fix this with a re-design I would be a faithful customer of their accessories again.
