PROS
The phone works. Easy to set up favorites.

CONS
The user interface is not so intuative and the hinge on the flip phone seems a little flimsy. Camera does not take great pictures.

The Motorola W490 is a great phone....until it breaks. This has happened to me twice and the problem is exactly the same.

After using the phone for 10 or 11 months, the keypad goes haywire. Flip the phone open and suddenly it will start dialing numbers at random or making menu selections, all without you pushing anything. Or you could be in the middle of a call and suddenly the phone will self-dial numbers at random, totally drowing you out with key tones and effectively ending your call.

When this happened the first time, T Mobile replaced the phone because it hadn't been quite a year, so I was still under warranty. Again, everything about my new phone was great....until the very same problem happened again after about 10 months.

So I'm on my third phone now! Since experiencing this problem, I have read other reviews across the Net saying that the W490 barely lasts a year, if you're lucky.

I give it only 1 star because although it's a good phone when it works, it doesn't work as long as it should. Breaking down after just 1 year is pathetic, and to make matters worse, that's exactly when the warranty expires.

I love my phone! I have the purple one, got it with a contract for about $30. I've had it 2 years now and all was fine until 2 months ago when I dropped it into a cup of hot tea! It still works, but has lots of problems now (won't vibrate, won't hold a charge very long), so I'm looking for a replacement without having to sign another contract. I would definitely recommend this phone!

I bought this phone for my wife September of 2008. She loved the phone, but it broke less then 2 months after the year warranty ran out. And since we are 10 months away from when she receives a discount, we have to go buy her a new phone. The LCD display on both sides of the top stopped working. The big display is solid white while the outside just shows the T-Mobile logo. We have tried pulling the batter, re-seating the SIM card, etc. but it has definitely went defective.

I have heard other people that have the W490 that say they last a little over a year. Again my wife loved the phone and wants to get it again, but I can't buy the phone again with a track record like that.

I purchased this phone one year ago from a t mobile store to use with their pre paid service. Exactly one week after my one year warrenty ran out all of the sudden the phone will no longer find a signal. If that doesn't sound like a set up I don't know what does. Nothing else wrong with the phone other than can't find a singal. If t mobile or motorola think that they are getting another $250 for a phone they are out of their minds. DO NOT BUY JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
