Motorola USB Charger and Cable

I have a bunch of Belkin 1A USB chargers that I noticed would not charge my Kindle Fire HD! I grabbed ALL of my USB chargers and went through each one to see which of them would work on the KFHD. The Samsung 1A charger from my Galaxy S3, the Motorola 0.85A charger from my Motorola Droid 2, and a 0.85A charger from a LG phone were the only ones that worked properly. My Galaxy S3 would charge fine from any of the Belkin chargers, but I needed a travel charger that I could bring with me. As a result I ordered another of the Motorola chargers from Amazon, and this works perfectly with the KFHD. It may not be a "fast charger", but it charges it up to 100% without any drama even on the KFHD without any error messages.

Overall: 5/5 stars, very very good price, works perfectly, great quality. May be only rated at 0.85A, but charges up my Kindle Fire HD 7" perfectly fine.

UPDATE 29 JUL 2013:
This charger works on the Go Pro Hero 3, Sony Action Cam, Kindle Touch, Kindle Fire HD 7", Samsung Galaxy S3, FujiFilm XP200, Motorola MotoActv, and BlackBerry Bold 9900 (the BB was REAL picky about chargers).

UPDATE 28 AUG 2013:
Using a Kill A Watt meter, I recorded 6.0 Watts with the Kindle Fire HD 7" (no error messages were observed, it charges up the KFHD just fine), 5.9W with the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930, and 5.2W with the FujiFilm XP200 camera. This charger is not rated at a full 1.0A, but my Samsung S3 charger (which is rated at 1.0A / 5VDC for USB) consumed 7.7W of power charging the KFHD7" and 7.5W with the BlackBerry. Assuming equivalent charging voltages, there is roughly a 0.3A different in current output between this Droid2 charger (rated at 850mA) and the Samsung S3 charger (rated at 1.0A).

I purchased this under the impression this was what everyone was using for the Raspberry Pi
After I got it I realised it did not output 1 AMP
If I remember correctly (and I think I do) it's 850 mAh wall-wart.

I tried to run the Raspberry Pi off this Power Adapter with a "Alfa AWUS036NHA - Wireless B/G/N USB Adaptor" and the USB Dongle for the "FAVI Entertainment SmartStick Wireless Keyboard with Touchpad Mouse" and was having issues with the Raspberry Pi running very unreliably. I switched the 850mAh adapter with a 1 AMP adapter I borrowed off a buddy and the issues that I was having with this Power Adapter stopped.

If you aren't going to be drawing energy from the Pi's USB ports or if you're going to be using a Powered USB HUB you can prolly get away with this Power Adapter and save a few bucks.

I would recommend to anyone who can afford a few more bucks to get as many amps as possible for the Pi just to be safe. I read an answer to a question where they asked how many AMPS and volts the Raspberry Pi could handle and the answer is as follows:
"The adapter should output 5 volts (volts are different than amps)
2.1 amps is fine,
1 amp is fine,
0.7 amps is the minimum for the Pi."

I will be buying 2 or 2.1 AMP Power Adapters for my Pi's that are only going to have 2 usb devices from now on just to be sure everything is getting it's fair share of power.

I keep losing these adapters and always seem to be short one or two, especially on travel. Some devices (like my Google phone) don't charge well over laptop USB and need a full charger like this. I like these because they are small, the cable detaches and can be used as a data cable and the prongs are oriented vertically such that the adapter uses up very little space in multi-port outlets. Also, output wattage is better than many other adapters that come with your device: rated at 800 mA (at 5.1 V output) compared to 500-750 of most other adapters I have. And they work internationally from 100-240 VAC. Very recommended.

I picked up several of these a year ago and never had any issue charging my older Galaxy Nexus phone. However, we recently upgraded to new Samsung Galaxy S4s. At first I thought something was wrong with my phone...I plugged my phone in and it said it was charging, but the battery level wasn't moving higher. I left it plugged in for 2 hours and it barely charged at all. I did check Settings, Battery and confirm that the phone said "AC" while charging--it did.

It turns out these chargers just don't charge fast enough for new power-hungry phones. You will need a wall charger that's specifically rated at 2 amps or more for your new phone. There are many to choose from on Amazon; read the reviews to pick a good one. I ended up going with this monster: Skiva PowerFlow QuadFire (4 Amps / 20Watt / Fastest Speed) Four Port USB Wall/Travel/AC Rapid Charger for iPhone 5 4 4s 3, iPad 3 2 1, iPod, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Android Smartphones and Other USB Devices (Universal Compatibility) which can charge both our phones and tablets quickly.

Hope this helps anyone else who has a new phone or larger tablet!

I bought this to be my charger at work, so I wouldn't have to drag the OEM charger back and forth between home and work. My OEM mini-USB Galaxy Nexus charger runs at 1.0A, and this Moto charger is 0.85A, but I do not notice the difference in charge time. I actually seems quicker in charge rate from 80%-100%. The cord is a lot shorter than OEM, but the cord is "meaty." It's ideal for backup/use at work. It is definitely a high quality piece. The connector that plugs into the phone fits tighter than the OEM cord's connector. Next time I place an order with Amazon, I will buy another to have one in my bedroom and leave the OEM charger in my den.
