Mediocre, November 6, 2005
This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
Nextel's Motorola i830 cell phone is a generally mediocre phone. The i830 has excellent service rarely ever drops any calls. The i830 is somewhat comparable to the i860 minus a few features. The i830 generally seems to have better service than the i860. Unfortunately good service is just about the only plus of the i830.
Unlike the i860 the i830 has horrible battery life which makes hard to go anywhere without worrying about having to take a charger along. For an average talker a brand new i830 will last about two days without being charged as opposed to the I 860 that will last about four. Sure the charge time isn't to long on the phone but it is still a hassle having to charge it so often. After a few months it will be noticeable that the i830 will need to be charged more frequently and eventually you will find yourself charging the phone whenever you aren't using it.
Sure the i830 is conveniently small but the downfall to that is when you drop the phone it will sustain some serious damage. It might not be noticeable after the first few drops but six drops later it will become evident how flimsy the i830 actually is where as the i860 will hold up much better. A common problem with the i830 is the antennae falling off which is unheard of with the i860.
The i830 does not come with a built in camera but it is possible to purchase an attachable one. This isn't a problem with the i860; it has a built in camera and a fifteen second movie recorder. It is possible to download different ring tones onto the i830 but due to the lack of memory it isn't possible to have a wide range. Where in the i860 this isn't a problem.
Overall the i830 is a mediocre phone. It offers exceptional service but lacks durability. This phone is made for an average talker. This i830 does offer several features that would be useful. One feature that the i830 doesn't have is an alarm clock, which is generally unheard of in the cell phone market. The i830 should not be number one on your list but I suppose it can be considered.

The sleek and stylish new Nextel i830, July 24, 2004
This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
The new Nextel i830 is UNBELIEVABLY small for a Nextel phone, and just a small phone overall. If you like a touch off class and style in your cell phone, (the broze is very sophisticated), then the Nextel i830 is for you.
Although this phone does not look to good in the pictures, it is SO much better looking in real life. The only complaint I have about this phone is that Motorola didn't change any Menu features or internal features from the i730, although the sleek new design makes up for that.
I have recieved nothing but compliments with my new phone, and I am enjoying it very much. Some people complain about the keys being to small and close together, but I do not seem to have any problem what-so-ever. The i830 is very simple to use once you get the hang of it. The ringer is the loudest I've ever heard, and you can download quite a bit of ringtones that Nextel has to offer, for 2 dollars each.
Overall, if you are thinking about upgrading to a Nextel or upgrading your existing nextel phone, definitly do it if you want the smaller size, sophistication, and Nextel's unbeatable services.

HORRIBLE, PLEASE BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS, February 26, 2006
This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
I don't honestly care if this review is helpful or not, but I must stress out the fact that the bad reviews for this phone are definitely true. Bad battery life, bad reception (or NO reception), awful design, small but not exactly to its advantage (too small of buttons - no I don't have fat hands) So yeah, don't get this phone.
