5.0 out of 5 stars The sleek and stylish new Nextel i830
The new Nextel i830 is UNBELIEVABLY small for a Nextel phone, and just a small phone overall. If you like a touch off class and style in your cell phone, (the broze is very sophisticated), then the Nextel i830 is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre
Nextel's Motorola i830 cell phone is a generally mediocre phone. The i830 has excellent service rarely ever drops any calls. The i830 is somewhat comparable to the i860 minus a few features. The i830 generally seems to have better service than the i860. Unfortunately good service is just about the only plus of the i830.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre, November 6, 2005

This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
Nextel's Motorola i830 cell phone is a generally mediocre phone. The i830 has excellent service rarely ever drops any calls. The i830 is somewhat comparable to the i860 minus a few features. The i830 generally seems to have better service than the i860. Unfortunately good service is just about the only plus of the i830.

Unlike the i860 the i830 has horrible battery life which makes hard to go anywhere without worrying about having to take a charger along. For an average talker a brand new i830 will last about two days without being charged as opposed to the I 860 that will last about four. Sure the charge time isn't to long on the phone but it is still a hassle having to charge it so often. After a few months it will be noticeable that the i830 will need to be charged more frequently and eventually you will find yourself charging the phone whenever you aren't using it.

Sure the i830 is conveniently small but the downfall to that is when you drop the phone it will sustain some serious damage. It might not be noticeable after the first few drops but six drops later it will become evident how flimsy the i830 actually is where as the i860 will hold up much better. A common problem with the i830 is the antennae falling off which is unheard of with the i860.

The i830 does not come with a built in camera but it is possible to purchase an attachable one. This isn't a problem with the i860; it has a built in camera and a fifteen second movie recorder. It is possible to download different ring tones onto the i830 but due to the lack of memory it isn't possible to have a wide range. Where in the i860 this isn't a problem.

Overall the i830 is a mediocre phone. It offers exceptional service but lacks durability. This phone is made for an average talker. This i830 does offer several features that would be useful. One feature that the i830 doesn't have is an alarm clock, which is generally unheard of in the cell phone market. The i830 should not be number one on your list but I suppose it can be considered.

5.0 out of 5 stars The sleek and stylish new Nextel i830, July 24, 2004
This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
The new Nextel i830 is UNBELIEVABLY small for a Nextel phone, and just a small phone overall. If you like a touch off class and style in your cell phone, (the broze is very sophisticated), then the Nextel i830 is for you.

Although this phone does not look to good in the pictures, it is SO much better looking in real life. The only complaint I have about this phone is that Motorola didn't change any Menu features or internal features from the i730, although the sleek new design makes up for that.

I have recieved nothing but compliments with my new phone, and I am enjoying it very much. Some people complain about the keys being to small and close together, but I do not seem to have any problem what-so-ever. The i830 is very simple to use once you get the hang of it. The ringer is the loudest I've ever heard, and you can download quite a bit of ringtones that Nextel has to offer, for 2 dollars each.

Overall, if you are thinking about upgrading to a Nextel or upgrading your existing nextel phone, definitly do it if you want the smaller size, sophistication, and Nextel's unbeatable services.

1.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE, PLEASE BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS, February 26, 2006

I don't honestly care if this review is helpful or not, but I must stress out the fact that the bad reviews for this phone are definitely true. Bad battery life, bad reception (or NO reception), awful design, small but not exactly to its advantage (too small of buttons - no I don't have fat hands) So yeah, don't get this phone.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible, November 25, 2005
This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
I have had this phone for about 2 years and it is horrible. There is no reception, the battery dies after about an hour, and its impossible to send text messages. By far one of the worst phones out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best East Coast USA - Baja Mex long distance mobile solution, July 2, 2004

Received the phone last weekend. Very satisfied with i830's performance and with Nextel's costumer service. Phone is unobtrusive and light, yet solid and functional. Coverage around the Hartford, CT area is excellent: no drop calls yet. Direct Connect feature is outstanding: can talk indefinitely with friends and family in Northern Baja California, Mexico (no more costly long distance bills). Overall, a complete solution to mobile communication in a striking, exceedingly elegant package.

Clearly the worst cell phone if not the worst designed piece of electronics I have ever had the misfortune to own. Very flimsy, very poor battery life, multiple software glitches, losing addresses, losing appointments, turning off randomly, very poor reception, unable to send text messages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Phone, February 10, 2005
This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
The I830 is perfect for people who need to carry their phone in their pocket, purse, or belt with increased comfort. The I830

weighs only 3.6 ounces and comes in your choice of Silver

or Bronze color. But had ordered it off of Nextels site. They even gave me a code that saved me $50.00. Here it is for you all to share (CL897L) case sensitive. On the shopping cart page. It is like an invoice thing. But I think it is a very good choice. You will enjoy the phone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great phone, love the size, but a bit overpriced!, October 11, 2004
This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
This is the smallest Nextel phone I've ever owned and I really like it overall. The bronze design is cool and really gets attention. The features are all pretty good. What I don't like is that the battery hardly lasts a day and it's a bit overpriced compared to other phones from other carriers. But, it's the best option for Nextel!

My daughter has owned almost every phone Nextel has made and this was by far the worse. It was broken more often than not. Thank God I purchased the additional insurance on it or I would have gone into bankruptcy just trying to keep it working. She finally sent it to the cell phone cemetery where it belonged. Nextel needs to make another updated verson of the i95. That was the best phone they ever made.

3.0 out of 5 stars So So..., August 24, 2005
This review is from: Motorola i830 Phone - Bronze (Nextel) (Wireless Phone)
I just received my i830 in the mail on Monday and so far I am very satisfied with the service BUT my biggest issue is the lame battery life. This morning I took my phone off the charger around 9:30 an dby 1:30 I had lost one bar of battery life. Other than that the phone and service is pretty good but not good enough for me to recommend this phone without some sort of extended battery life.
