The Nextel i930,
By Weirdo (FL, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Motorola i930 iDen phone (Wireless Phone)
I have had my i930 for almost two months now. It does not have the newest version of Windows Mobile software since the phone has been in development for some time now. There are a whole lot of applications that you can obtain at handango.com. The wallpaper and ringtones from nextel.com will not work with this phone. Also, you can not send text messages with this phone. Receive, but not send. I purchased a 2gb smart card for my phone, and it is more than plenty. you can play mp3, wma, and even video on your phone. You can use a picture that you have taken and use that for your background. it also works with telenav, but unfortunately, weather.com's application isn't available yet. I miss using that with my old phone. You can make your own ring tones with this phone. The phone includes a disk and windows sync software along with a cradle to sync your phone with your pc. You can even access your bank account with the webbrowser on this phone as the encryption is high enough. It comes with Jawbreaker and Solitaire for the games. I like it a lot, but there are things that I miss about my old nextel phones.27 july 06. i wanted to add that you can send text messages from the phone. You just have to use the MMS feature, and it has a spot where it says add photo, and you just send the text. So, you can't send an SMS message, just MMS.

Stay with the i860 unless you need the internet.,

I love this phone, but if I didn't use the internet a lot I would have stuck with my i860.Pros: -Internet Explorer (great for gmail) -Sync with PC -Windows Mobile -Operation GPS -TeleNav (free to mark GPS coordinates) -Windows Media Player (Music, Video, Pics) -Best Nextel on the Market -Good keys -Speaker Phone -Headphone Outlet ($10 for the nextel headphone on eBay, great for music) -Big operational external display -Walkie-Talkie Cons: -Huge Phone (It's very thick.) -No BLUETOOTH -Poor Battery Life -Windows warns low battery at about 1/3 battery life (thus making the battery life even shorter.) -Windows Mobile (crashes sometimes.) -Very Overpriced (considering a Motorola Q, Trio, or Blackberry) -Heavy -No Keyboard (if you want one) -Only Using GSM out of the USA!! iDen is used in the US, which in only 2nd gen (slower). -No Off-Network Walkie-Talkie

Get ready to do some hacking.,
By
This review is from: Motorola i930 iDen phone (Wireless Phone)
I have had my i930 for about two months. I travel quite a bit so I really need the GSM feature. Nextel didn't do their regular customers any favors with this phone. I've been a Nextel subscriber for ten years and expected something better. I do have some good news for those owners that are daring enough to do some hacking. Sign on to [...] and pay the nerd that runs the sight $9.95 and you can download a program and a set of directions that will unlock this aggravating beast. From then on it will run anything that runs on any Windows smartphone. If Sprint really intends to continue selling this model they should unlock it. If I had a choice (I use it for work) I'd get rid of it and get something else.

Worst cell phone I've ever used,
By M. Rae (Athens, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Motorola i930 iDen phone (Wireless Phone)
I've had this phone for about a year and a half and I CANNOT wait until my contract is up. I originally got this phone because I was going to Italy and needed a phone that worked overseas. This phone is extrememly heavy and large as far as cell phones go and I am very disappointed with the options. You can't even change the volume of the alarm that goes off and it's unnecessarily loud. The battery life of this phone is the worst of any phone I've ever had. I have to charge it up at least once a day whereas with other phones, I could go three days without charging them. This phone is overpriced and nowhere near worth the money it costs. I would NOT recommend it to anyone.
