Mr. Morris has crafted a unique book. It provides a special insight into famous individuals and their fascination with motorcycling as a means of escape, a declaration of personal freedom, and a vehicle for their philanthropy. The book also reminds us that these people value their membership in the family of motorcyclists as much as they value their success. Morris' eloquent text, and the excellent photographs as well, make this a must-have for the enthusiast; and a great introduction for the neophyte.

This richly illustrated 168-page companion to the exhibit at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum presents a comprehensive examination of the relationship between celebrities and motorcycling. In addition to exploring celebrities' fascination with motorcycle culture, the book delves into the impact of celebrity culture on the motorcycle industry. Written by respected motorcycle journalist David Morris, whose articles and features appear regularly in Robb Report MotorCycling (now MotorCycling) magazine. From the introduction:"For all their power and means, the renowned individual, no matter what their fame or fortune, are confronted with the inescapable reality of a machine that defies them, yet enchants them. Get it wrong, and the motorcycle communicates with brutal consequence. Get it right, and one escapes all the preoccupations and troubles of the material world. "For the celebrity whose every breath and utterance is monitored by both general public and immediate entourage, the motorcycle offers a more than a ticket to heaven. On a motorcycle, one rediscovers oneself."

I purchased this book because I am a fan of any work created by Mr. Morris. Although I have no real relationship to the subject matter, I was blown away by how the insights, facts and antedotes somehow intimately drew me into this uncharted territory. I felt quenched, enriched and entertained. As always with Mr. Morris, I was completely satisfied.

This review may see a bit bias but it's important to understand that I bought this book (two actually) from Amazon just like you might. I had a reason that was more than just "browsing"... I was fortunate enough to have one of my designs included in the book (Delta Bravo 9iner - a bike that I designed and built with my business partner Mike Londo).I feel that Mr. Morris has brought together what could be the ultimate collection and celebration of the lifestyle that is motorcycling. Including world famous riders and people that have had enormous impact in the industry including world class bike builders and the stars that love them. To say that this book is worth every penny would not do justice to the massive collection that is contained within its pages. Buy this book. Love this book. I know I do. Mr. Morris, thank you for the honor of being a part of this amazing body of work... Kindest regards, Joshua M. Davis |
