5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bike Hands Down, August 26, 2010
By
This review is from: Motus USA M-RACING FUSION Indoor Cycling Bike (Sports)
I have been an avid Cyclist for over 20 years and cross-train at the Gym on a regular basis, where my favorite activity is Group Cycling/Spinning.

My Gym has some Spinning Bikes which are nice, so when I started shopping for one of these for my home I was surprised that they were priced pretty high and came with almost no added accessories, these were all up-sells. By the time I was ready to check out, I had amassed over $500 in pedals, PC and upgraded seat, add that to the $1,600 price tag and I was at over $2,100

Enter the Motus NRG Group Indoor Racing Bike...
Sleeker Design, Belt Driven (as opposed to Chain), On-Board PC, Dual Pedals for my SPD Cleats, Upgraded Seat and other design improvements which quite simply blew the competition out of the water...and all for $1,000 less than the competing model.

I then did some additional research, and learned that this is one of the fastest growing brands and products in the Gym Industry, and that these bikes are found in club, YMCA's, and other commercial facilities Nationwide and Worldwide which further improved my confidence on a product which I had never personally seen.

After making the purchase through Amazon, the bike took 3 days to arrive. The delivery crew was friendly and professional, and when is saw the bike physically for the first time I was surprised, as it eclipsed my expectations. After riding the bike daily for well over 2 weeks, I am pleased to note that this is the smoothest and most impressive Indoor Cycle that I have ever used. It is destined to be my favorite activity as the rainy season begins.

I am a very happy buyer and would highly endorse this product to anyone who is serious about riding, and better yet, anyone that want a great piece of exercise equipment, which they will actually be enticed to use!

I wanted a training bike that could give me realistic feel to my road bike. The only reason I'm not giving it top marks is the ridiculously poor computer and ratcheting tension for the flywheel. There 8 positions when it's only possible to use 3-4. They should have engineered the positions in smaller increments.
I like all of the positioning adjustments other than the handle bars don't have tilt, just height and lateral. Bike is made well with good long lasting materials that should not wear out anytime soon. Bike has belt drive which is quite after a touch of silicon spray.
The computer does not read out rpm's comparable to road riding. 90 rpm is more like 350 on the Motus. Mph and Elapsed are ok, but Heart Rate is far from accurate. Unit displays 110 when it should be more like 150bpm. Complained to supplier and they eventually sent another computer which corrected nothing.
Very good saddle with cutout for pressure points, or you can replace with your own. The underside of the pedals are made to adapt for clip less shoes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great spinner, December 7, 2011

Ok. Let me start off by saying that while I have cycled all my life I currently am not in great cycling shape and I decided to bite the bullet and get a piece of equipment the whole family could use, whether it be an elliptical, treadmill or stationary bike. I wasn't even looking at spinners but quality ellipticals are HUGE and very expensive and treadmills are the same way.

Once I narrowed it to exercise bikes, I started looking at the spinners as well. I discovered they simulated real bike riding better than anything and once I realized a spinner was just a solid hunk of metal with a flywheel and adjustable seat and handlebars using pretty much what amounted to bike parts, I was sold. No motors to break down or strange parts where they would have to send a service tech.

I was looking hard at the Lemond RevMaster Pro but they were out of stock so I went with the Motus--the Keiser spinners look really nice, too.
Of course, once I ordered it I scoured for more reviews on the net and though the complaints weren't too harsh there was one that seemed to be repeated: the resistance range is too limited, not usable after gear 4. (There was a funny one too of it being hard to get on or off, which was funny because I get on it exactly like I get on my real bikes!)

Now that I have had it a couple of days I can say I am very happy with the resistance levels and am so glad I got the Motus with the shifter versus the knob style of resistance. I'll give my description of how each gear feels to me, but let me start off by saying I am a fairly large guy (220lbs) and have large thighs so YMMV.

Gear 1: This is like riding on a smooth road that is slightly downhill. Not downhill enough to build up speed, but enough for there to be little effort to pedal.
Gear 2: Like gear 1 but on a flat road instead of downhill. This gear and gear 1 really don't give a workout but are good for warming up and keeping things limber.
Gear 3: I ride this seated and this is a really smooth, not too hard gear. This is my main gear for now.
Gear 4: This is pretty hard. I ride seated but it puts a good amount of strain on my legs. In a couple of weeks, when I get my riding legs back, this will be by main cruising gear.
Gear 5: This gear is pretty serious. A tweener for me as to riding on seat or standing. This is like making a solid push but less than a sprint.
Gear 6: Full on sprint.
Gear 7: This gear is great for simulating going up a very steep hill in a low gear where after each downward thrust the bike comes to a complete stop and you have to bring the other foot down to keep moving.

While those descriptions are subjective I actually did a little more scientific of a test where you can test to see if your resistance is set up like mine, which came from the factory.
So for each of the gears I pedaled to 240 RPM and then took my feet off the pedals and counted how many full rotations it took to come to a stop.

Gear 1: 9 3/4 rotations
Gear 2: 3 1/2 rotations
Gear 3: 1 1/2 rotations
Gear 4: 3/4 rotation
Gear 5: 1/2 rotation
Gear 6: 1/4 rotation
Gear 7: 0

Pros:
-Very smooth and quiet, just a very slight hiss. Nothing to disturb TV viewing
-Rock solid
-Extremely adjustable seat and handlebars. My son is 4'11" and the lowest adjustments are too small while I am near 6' and I am nowhere near the largest settings.
-Easy to assemble
-Looks great
-Dual clip-on/strap pedals
-Pulse monitor works fine--but you have to maintain continual contact for at least 30 secs
-Computer keeps track of your workout. So if you workout for 15 minutes and then come back again later it starts from where you left off
-Warranty. Five years frame and 2 years full is pretty darn good nowadays.

Cons:
-Computer doesn't take into account resistance level so that the speed, calories burned, etc are pretty meaningless.

Overall, a great indoor riding experience that I highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Motus Fusion Review, November 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Motus USA M-RACING FUSION Indoor Cycling Bike (Sports)
Just recently purchased the Motus Fusion indoor bike and over all I think it is an excellent, commercial quality unit. The bike's design and styling are very cool which make you wanna hop on! The rear flywheel belt drive system delivers very smooth, quiet operation with a crank arm length which is almost comparable to my road racing bike. The geometry along with the adjustment capability of the bars and seat make it very comfortable to ride; much more so than my outdoor road bike on the indoor trainer. I sweat alot when I train so the rear flywheel set up along with the stylish plastic frame covering is a big plus for the overall operation and longevity of the bike. I also like the shifter style tension mechanism vs the knob style. Once adjusted correctly (you will have to adjust the control mechanism to get the total 8 tension settings) you can more efficiently and consistently shift through the "gears" as you train! Much more like a real bike. The computer unit has all of the necessay function to track your workout though it is not perfect. It is not Polar compatable and the readout from the pulse palm mechanism is not accurate over 90 bpm (tested with my polar wrist unit). An example is the unit was reading 91 while my HRM was displaying 142. However this is not unexpected for these battery powered units and not a big deal to me. The bigger drawback for me is that it is not back lighted and therefore difficult to see in my home gym but it is better than nothing and worth the money in my book. As a cyclist I found the saddle a little bulky and the provided pedals clunky for my taste but they are simple to replace. However they are fine for normal fitness use. For those folks that are instruction driven, the instruction booklet provided by Motus is very lacking in detail on setup and adjustments. I had to read a review on this site to find the plug in for the pulse palm reader to the computer unit and wing the shift adjustment on my own! If you are not mechanically inclined like I am it may be a little tough.

Overall I am very pleased with the bike and my wife and I are sure to put many hours on it.

This exercise bike is like a dream come true. Assembly was quite easy, I did it alone. It took me a while to figure out where to plug in the short cord coming out from the front of the handle into the exercise monitor TZ-2120 computer. (It plugs in under - top - right hole). This enable the monitor to read your heart rate (pulse). I'm extremely happy with my new toy, it was placed in the living room. Believe me, it looks better than a couch and it gets used a lot more too. It truly deserves a five star.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock solid and smooth!, December 2, 2011
By
Michael A Sills (Bloomfield Hills, Mi United States) - See all my reviews

Okay, I've just had it for a day and went for an hour ride, but that's enough to tell. This bike truly is rock solid and it is smooth and noiseless. It has quality hardware and attention to detail and isn't likely to be falling apart anytime soon. The assembly was very straightforward and took about 1/2 hour and I'm no mechanic. One of the biggest complaints I've read is the "gears" providing too narrow a useable range. Right out of the box, mine was the same way. Gear 8 is supposed to be your brake, but I couldn't budge the pedals in 7 or 8...even standing on them...and barely in 6. 5 was a difficult "out of the saddle ride" and 4 was a taxing seated workout. With just a little help from a reviewer on this forum, it took just minutes to adjust the spring tension so that there is fairly smoooth tension increase across the range. I find this bike very comparable to the Lemond Rev Pro in quality, but if you shop around beyond Amazon (hint: Costco), you can find a price that makes this a sure winner. Sadly, it is made in Taiwan. I have no comment about the computer because one is not included at the price point I paid. From what I've been reading from others, I'm not missing anything. My only regret is not American made.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a riding experience!, August 26, 2010
This review is from: Motus USA M-RACING FUSION Indoor Cycling Bike (Sports)
Great purchase! Love the cool design and comfortable ride. The ergonomic design supports your back so you can go the distance. Other helpful features on this bike include a heartrate monitors and a body fat calculator. The gears are located in the perfect spot so it doesn't interrupt your workout when changing resistance. My workout on this bike has been very rewarding. The Motus M-Racing Bike stands out from all the rest!
