Book Description

0567085716 978-0567085719 June 2002 6 Revised
The original edition of this concordance, published in 1897, was primarily based on the Greek text of Westcott and Hort but gave all the variants in the edition of Tischendorf and in the Greek text underlying the Revised Version of the English Bible. This sixth edition retains all the features of earlier ones, but it is primarily based on the Greek text in the Greek New Testament (fourth edition), which is identical with that in "Novum Testamentum Graece" (27th edition). It incorporates the main marginal readings in the former of these texts, and references to the variants in the older editions are preserved, so that the student has to hand every reading which by even a remote probability might be regarded as forming part of the true text of the New Testament. The supplement incorporating the prepositions has been included in the main text of the concordance. Where the same word occurs twice in the same verse, these occurrences are now printed on separate lines and individually verse-numbered so that it is easier to count the number of occurrences of any given word. Special new Greek fonts have been created to enable greater clarity in the printing.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The two advantages of the [sixth edition] are more information on OT citations and on text-critical matters." -- Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, March 2003

"it's beautifully produced...even in a fast-changing age it's likely to be a standard reference book for a long time." -- Expository Times, November 1, 2002

This review is from: Moulton and Geden: A Concordance to the Greek Testament (Greek Edition) (Hardcover)
I bought a copy of this in 1974. For anyone who can read Koine' Greek, it beats a Strong's Concordance by far. With it one can see how a particular grammatical form is used. For example, one can find all instances of 'eph (h)w' (see Romans 5:12) in the New Testament. Yet, in recent years I find a good computer program with a Greek text of the New Testament keyed to Strong's numbers serves almost all of my needs. Since the advent of computer Bible programs my copy of Moulton and Geden has gathered a lot of dust, sadly.
