I have D-40 Moultrie camera that eats batteries. Once I added this and located in a spot that utilizes the sun well, I have yet to replace the batteries. I made a mount out of a couple of old 2 foot 2x4's that extends this panel about 2 feet from the tree and faced it south, as I'm in Montana, and it works great. The daily average solar readout gives you good feedback for adjusting this to maximize the solar energy from the sun.
The only complaint that I have is like many others that have written reviews. The 12 volt plug doesnt fit very tight. To overcome this I tucked the cord under the camera straps to help support it.
I recomend this for anyone using a Moultrie camera.

Up date. After playing with this in the field I have found that if you push the plug into the camera harder, it snaps into place and the camera holds the plug great. I have many great pictures of elk and deer that have passed under my tree stand.

This product will enable you to not have to pop into the woods every few weeks to switch out camera cards or batteries. It is simple to use and adjusts very easy. I do recommend using a small tie-down strap to secure it to a tree. Don't strap it to tight against the tree because you might put to much stress on the mounting points. I have seen a squirrel sit on my panel while it was fully extended and it did not budge.

The panel comes with a long power cord, so the panel doesn't need to be right on top of the camera. This aides with positioning the panel to capture more solar energy.

Once you have the panel positioned it will read the amount of solar energy it is collecting at its secured position. Also the panel will calculate the daily and weekly solar data to ensure the panel is positioned to capture the most available solar energy.

It probably extends the battery life pretty much by running on the solar panel instead of the batteries.
It does not charge the required camera batteries like you would hope.
It does require full force sun all day. That's hard to come by in the woods. With no leaves on the trees to block the sun it will charge to 72%. It has a small internal battery that it charges with solar power. A couple of cloudy days and it is out of juice.
It works, but there's room for improvement.

I put this on my Moultrie D40 game camera. The 6 D-Size batteries were lasting about 250 pictures (2 weeks), but after installing this I went for about 700 pictures (6 weeks). I would buy it again.

I purchased this power pack to go with the Moultrie D-55 IR trail camera, after being in the woods a month the origional batteries still show 88% whereas our other camera would burn thru 6 D cells in about 3 weeks, this pack will pay for itself in just a a few months!

I recently purchased my 2nd Power Panel and it works great. I purchased my first one over a year ago and it has allowed my camera to run uninterrupted for 14 months without changing the batteries. I have noticed times with extended cloud cover that my night infared pictures begin to get dim (this happened more frequently with regular alkaline batteries and no panel). I would say on average my cameras take ~25 pictures per day and the panel seems to have little problem accomodating that. Make sure to place the panel in direct sunlight or it will not work well. I am very pleased with this product.

Have had it for 2 months in all sorts of weather and it has worked great. I'd recommend it and buy one again if I had the need for it. The only constructive criticism is that It does not come with a strap. Instead it comes with lag bolts. The strap would be more convenient for when you are out in the woods. I use a length of rope to attach it to a tree. I haven't had any issue with the cord falling out of the bottom of the camera, in fact it fits pretty snug.

I got tired of going through all the batteries... it was expensive. The power panels have worked out great! Now, if the Moultrie cameras were just as good.

We love that this charger has a built in 12v battery. It Has really saved us money on gas since we don't have to go out every other weekend and replace regular batteries in the game camera.

Contrary to Moultries description the Moultrie Power panel DOES NOT WORK on all Spy Cams made from 2007 on. The panel itself is a nice unit but the connector WILL NOT fit properly and falls out of the Moultrie D-55 Spy Cam. I have researched this problem since I bought it and found out that Moultrie is aware that customers are having problems. I contacted Moultrie about it and they said in an email that they will ship a different connector to me to fix this problem. I have read that others received the other connector and it didnt solve the problem. Let the BUYER BEWARE of this item
